Everything must end

We are home. It was a great national and relaxed and no one seemed to get up tight.

I thought that was a factor of the show last year, but it is the reflection of Bill Burgraff. He is everywhere working on details and showing how much fun a dog show can be. He lets his personality reflect in the show, and the people who attended appreciated it. There was more laughter this year than most. I also did talk to Bill and he was thinking of resigning from doing the National. I did all I could to get him to change his mind. I will know in a few days what he decides to do. Either way, we all should thank him.

I loved what Ed did. He has always said that the first four or five Selects are what is meaningful and after that, if they are good enough to go Select the placing are not important. That is what he did. Now, some may not like that, and might want to brag about being Select 8 instead of Select 11. But, I have to agree with Ed. It is important for the top few, and the rest are quality enough to be Select. I have never seen anyone else with the ability to know and remember so much about dogs and bitches as Ed, and it was very sad for me to hear he was not going to do another National. We have four years to change his mind. I know it must be hard on him, but he has so much to offer to the breed.

I never saw so much outpouring of good will in the way people treated Summer. She was thrilled to be accepted into our family and I hope she continues to show the dedication. People like Sally and Molly went way out of the way to encourage her. Jimmy had kind word, Leslie and so many others said how well she did. Bob Grady has been a big factor in her dedication. It is hard for me to remember she is but 10 years old.

The Drapers were thrilled to go first with Asgard's Icon. And I saw so many incredible animals this year. We breed each time to improve the breed, so after a few years of doing that, we should have this quality.

Thanks for letting me share my thoughts with you. At times I get tired and think about just watching the show, but I do get so much response that I plan to do this until they pry my laptop from my cold dead lap.

Stay well everyone and we will do this again next year in Colorado.

Twenty Selects

Here we go with the males. We took a break for lunch and got back just in time. Bob is flirting with the video girl, and I don't blame her. Gary just came by to talk to Tony and everyone is getting their bibs.

I can tell the tension building and everyone is getting ready for the BIG SHOW. I congratulated Bob Funk and he is jazzed. Very cool for them. As well as Frank and Kriss and Fred and Ellen. I think Eli will go Grand Victor and what I saw yesterday on Friday, I know who is going to win.

There they are, in the ring.

Male specials all around the ring.

Ed is working the ring and laughing with the handlers. Christine and Steve Granger are here and I need to spend some time with them. They can always make me laugh. Now Ed is counting to cut the classes, or rather divide them. I think he will cut later. We start with 55 males after the absentees.

Bob Bergraff is here and wants to talk to us. Seems Rita needs a ride to the airport, but we are leaving at three thirty in the morning. Ginny just came by to talk about the growing tension.

First is Abby with BB Cody V Kiridler. I can't see her because Bobby is in my way. Linda brings out Navigator and she is looking as great as always. Kevin is behind me asking for candy. Summer gave him some. I told him he doesn't need any more candy. Lenny is out there with Ray Bearone.

George comes in with First Knight, one of the Army sons. Up next is Learning to Fly. That is a nice substantial dog and looks ready to go. Elizabeth brings out Secret Agent.

It is Mike with All That Matters (Kobe). He is a great looking and moving dog. Captain Crunch with Jammie. A very handsom dog. The number one herding dog in the country.

They stand and Ed looks them over, and walks down the line and looks at them each and takes a step and looks again and tells them "OK guys, one time around." Of they go for the day in Topeka.

The next group starts with Patron. I love the dog, but I have spent some time with him, and he is a super dog. They go out, and in comes the next group. Patron is Select in Canada and America, and Excellent.

Patron takes his pass with Bill Tank. Out comes High Five.

Hello again everyone! It's Summer Khatib again. The dog show is very fun watching all the dogs and bitches. Or, should I say, all the BEAUTIFUL dogs and bitches.

Everyone at the show keeps stopping by at our announcers table to get some candy and cookies. Last night we bought three bags of candy, and four packages of cookies.

We had a spectacular lunch buffet today. It consisted of: mashed potatoes, country fried steak, and soup.

And now, back to the show....

Front and center in the ring is champion Peter's Elite Name Your Poise-n'. Next up is, champion Amber's RJ Of Scher-Lo.

Finally... he is taking them all around.

I'm baaack. So don't look for good spelling or political talk. Harley Davidson is out there now. What a great breeder must have produced him. He has that there Asgard name on him, so he must be a good dog. Double Down is out there.

Grayson with Al Martin. That is a good looking dog, perfect breeding. Year of the Gentleman is there lots of style. Ed looks calm and this dog was reserve winner's Dog from last years's national. Standing Outside The Fire is there. That is a stallion type of dog, and it is impressive to see how much type we have on our dogs now.

Next up is Nancy with League of His Own, Turbo. He was Winner's Dog last year and Winner's Dog and Select and this years Maturity Victor. Roxanne has him in great condition and that is a dog with a lot of style. Olivia brings out Key Largogh V Marjo. He already has gone Select.

High Voltage with Sylvain. I have always admired this dog. Georgie is standing behind me and entertaining the crowd. That's the end of the line and Ed walks over looking down and now looks them over and stands back to watch them go by. He looks at them at both sides.

Out with the old and in with the new. The fatigue factor is setting in. And just with me. In front is Cacique. Cacique is out there for examination and has gone Select before, I think. But, remember you should not listen to me for valid comments. Ed makes a lot of notes. Now an all black, Solitaire N; Black Jack. I have always liked this dog. Heart of Gold. A big substantial dog.

I need something to make this interesting. Bob and I are doing the best we can, but we are going to get into trouble. Rascal is there now another of the Army sons. We are currently breeding an Army daughter to Big Ben. When we get home we will know if it worked. Leslie with Fios. Down and Back just like the rest of them. No changes and a bit boring doing the same thing.

JR goes out there with Chad. Another deep bodied substantial dog. Next up is Bloomsberry's In Thyme with Terressa. Maybe I should just head to the airport and go home. I am not doing anything here but repeating the catalogue which you all could get on line.

Channing brings out Jack Bauer. Another dog I have seen a lot and I have always admired him. That's the end of the class, so there they go posing and waiting for Channing to get there, and there he is.

They take a pass and now Ed is only looking at the curtain side and now they bring in the next group. Eli in the front with Kent. Kent brings him out and he is one good looking dog. There he goes and Ed watches him.

Another Frasano dog, Desbearado, the sire of all the winners so far. That is one handsome dog. Art has him and the crowd likes this dog. Storm's A' Brewing is there with Ross. Bill Basu has Goodfella. A lot of dog. He is only four but sure is fully matured.

Greg brings out Donatello. Isn't a turtle? A good looking dog and rich in pigment. I love the deep body type. To tell the truth if I was to say what I see, all I would say is I see a lot of people's backs. There goes another good one.

Iza came by and so is Bill Basu in front of us. Sean brings to Ed Santana. Me & Bobby McGee with Cindy Tellefson. I have seen this dog before and know he is a good one. Mojito. It is 3:00 and we still have a lot of show to go. Tony thinks there are another 15 dogs to go, so two more groups. Mojito has his fan club, and he is a good looking young fellow. He also has a good handler. They stand in a group and Ed looks them over and has them take another trip. 573 is now Select Excelent. I don't think I listed them anyway, so check with Michel.

To the center of the ring is Feature Presentation. Another of the deep bodied dark dogs. I see a trend in the breed. Zomer takes the ring. I love the style of dog. Not any interest in the dogs from the crowd. Lots of babble, but not cheering.

I am thinking I like Kobe best so far. Scott brings to Ed Galaxy. He might be a brother to last year's Grand Victrix. But I might just be making that up to make it interesting. Now Paul Johnson, Bob Eaton,k Dave Rinke and DD are in front of me. DD looks great this year. Not that he didn't in the past.

Zak has Johnnie Black. Johnnie Black is a nice young dog, but is young. I think he might turn into a great one in the future. He did a lot of winning in California.

Jon has Victor, a Samuri son. We, of course had a Samuri daughter, Honey Be Good who is the dam of Kirk. It is all about me. I can find a way to talk about me any time.

Here comes Jimmie. He takes on his role as a handler/judge with Ike. This year's Canadian Grand Victor. I like that dog. I would love to see him move more.

Hitman is there with JR. He has done a lot of winning. Now Dances with Eagles. A very deep bodied dog. Ed looks them over and walks to the end. He still looks fresh and tells them to take a pass. Jim York came by and I did some legal work for the Temperament Committee so we did talk about them.

Comfort break. And they are back.

New group. Ed stands out there and she brings him Eddison. Gary Szymzyk is here talking to us. It is still quiet in her. This is a good looking outline. I love the ribbing.

Now Kelly with Free and Easy. An Aries son and one I have liked before. Having this much free time is not good for me. I might say things I would regret. And that has never happened before. I do like this dog, and so does the crowd.

Christie brings in 777. I do like his number. It is English Channel. Nice proportions. Christie has run for three days and looks fresh as the day we got here.

Leanna takes in Johan Santana and looks good, so does the dog.

Now the Veteran dog, Hawk. Looks like a young dog. Now the older Veteran, Here Comes Trouble.

Select Bitches

I am talking to Julie Harel and Marilyn Sgarbossa and they are here from Canada and wanted to say hello to Sigrid and everyone back home in Quebec and Ontario. They had a good trip and ready for the big day. Julie showed in the Canadian National so she knows what it is like.

I sit corrected. Summer was invited to the college orchestra, not the highschool. Like what I said was not good enough. Kirk is standing on the announcer's table. I don't see anyone yelling about it. Paula is here with Harley and dressed in Harley Davidson stuff. Julie is sitting with us now to see the view. It is the best seat in the house.

Now Bobby is here and shirts in black. I see the Juniors are getting ready to go in for presentation class. I see Rita is talking to The Guz. Now the place is starting to look like a dog show and Paula came up to the table too.

Now the Presentation Class. The Obedience winners. Victor is in and I can't hear the name, but a good looking dog. Shannon is there, I think it is Tupak, or something like that. Now the High Schoring Dog in trial a Bi with Vickey. Top Scoring dog in trial that is a German shepherd with Barbara Vitner. A lot of work went into that. Paula doesn't know what she is talking about.

In come the kids. And what a group. That does bring a cheer from the crowd.

Hi everyone, it's Summer! Specials Bitches are in. There are 42 bitches just standing around with their handlers.

Kirk is fast asleep under the announcers' table. He is sooo adorable.

Everything right now is slow moving. The ring stewart is still checking in all the bitches. As I can see, this should be quite a LONG class.

The judge already pulled his first group of five bitches. He is having them go around.

Evan is back.

First is Cindy with Mariner's Akaya, and she takes her pass. The second is Lenny with Jerrwen's Aspen. Next is Regency's Poshahontas V Kridler with Mike. Next in the catalog is Madison Avenue who was moved to the back to avoid conflict with her kennel mate. This will be Madison's seventh select if she does it, that would break the record of Angelique. Next in line is Lyloak's Isn't She Lovely with Phillip. Paula is sitting at the table with us and carping on stuff. Abby has Stonewall's Dirty Look. Of course they are all Champions, so I am saving finger strength. Could it be more quiet? Nothing going on. I walked up to the bleachers and said hello to Bob Eaton, Dave Rinke and Paul Johnson. They are sitting with Bill Leonard. After the morning with Summer, Jacqueling, Paula and Karen Taylor I needed some testosterone injection.

Bill Tank has Eko-Lan N EMJ'S Encore. The crowd does like her. Ed tells them to take them around and there they go.

In comes the second group. Kent with Tazzman's Ariel. Jeff has Hickoryhills Bow Chica Wow Wow. Sean brings out Lyloak's Fresca. Then Scottie goes out with Whitside's Then Came Me a very nice looking sable. Jon is in there with Hienerburg's Gone With The Wind Depahl.

I just had a long talk with Bill Bergraaf. So, I missed a lot. I am talking to Joanna Rand, and I left Paula in charge and she didn't do anything. Normal.

I don't know where we are, but Channing Sheets is in the ring with Phil-Car's Lucy Lu, TC. I love the actress. Now Al Martin with Almar's Sasshey. Shey is a Ray Bearone daughter. Boy have Frank and Kris made an impact on the breed. I see Kris is in front of me with a skweeker. I don't know the handler but she has Foxhaven- Jyjoy good Girl Gone Bad of Windfall. Out goes the group with hopes and dreams, so far.

In comes the next seven. Magnificent. They stack with Scottie in front and there he goes to the front. Scott has Greay Pine's Hallee. A whole lot of champions. Bart came by and got a cookie. Bart says we need milk. Everyone is a critic. JR is there with Tebenobe Stimulus Plan Scarab. Then we have Scott Mayle with Bon Jen's La Dee Dah. The Guz is staying here to talk to Bob The Voice of The National. Michael Cheeks is next to the table and Rita just walked by.

Now George is there with Carousel Farms Capri. I talked to George this morning in the elevator and he tells me he has a new work-out program. I don't know what it is, but it sure is working. Ron Nunnerly walked by talking to Sherie Moses. I like that bitch George has, and I don't think I have seen her before, but I must have, she is a good one. Ed makes some notes. I will have to ask him what he writes.

Sundown's Mercedes is out there now with a young handler. What great shoe laces. Bright orange with black shoes and orange soles. I guess I am bored if I am talking clothing. The bitch runs along the wall and tries to leave at the end of it.

Sylvain brings out an all black, Harmonia's Gypsyblack Rhythm. Mostly owners clapping. Greg brings out Zukerdok's Thunderbirg. Nice style and type. They stand and stack and everyone still thinks they are going Grand Victrix. I don't think Ed has made up his mind as he wants them to take a pass. And Ed shrugs and they go out. Ed is talking to Bob Grady to get directions and in comes another group. There sure are a lot of bitches.

In front is Elizabeth. She has the Cheeks bitch. Linda Bankhead is on the end, but I suspect won't be at the end. Elizabeth comes to the middle to be judged, (they all have to be at some time, if not by Ed, then someone), with Trafalgar's I Told U So, a Rollins daughter. Boy did Army look great. As good as when he won GV. Speaking of Army an Army daughter is in there now with Phil-Car's Rachell. Paula is gone so that we can now talk about her. Christie is ther with a great bling top and a very very pretty bitch, Echo-Cham's Devine. The crowd likes her. Next up is Tanbarks 2muchbling Joelle. That is the end of the catalog.

I guess the rest is move-ups, veterans, and winner's bitch.

I was premature. Jimmie is up there with Kaleef's Kellie V Kenlyn a Bronson daughter.

Diane has Karizmas Chiffon Von Loaar. Zoe is here now and talking to Jacqueline. Linda has D'Cans Diamonnds R forever. Very nice type and Ed goes over her. No temperament problems yet. That is the end of the line and they all stack so I guess that is it for the regular entries.

Ed walks over towards them. He looks in great condition and wearing a charcoal suit and a black t-shirt and cap and tells them to "give me a lap" and they do.

First is Liz with Cresecent Moon's Enchantress V Kenlyn. Second is Kelly with Jerrrwens
Madison Avenue. Third is Elizabeth with Liebchen's Shebearezade. Elizaeth looks great with a blue shift. I asked Jacqueline about clothes. I know nothing.

Madison is very up and the crowd is behind her. She is nine now and still looks great. I hope she makes the cut.

Leslie comes out with an all black bitch Stonewall's Maja's Black Diamond. I have trouble seeing a black dog, but I can see she is a good one. This is the last group and then the unkindest cut of them all. Now we have Joell's Golddigger of Jeseffan. I think that is a move-up.

Winner's Bitch Winsomes Heiress V Depahl. I think she should go Select. The crowd thinks so too. She sure is in great condition.

Tish brings into the ring the Veteran Bitch Edales Eddison. She is a Champion and poses perfectly. Ed tells her to take her around. Then we get The Veteran Bitch with Alex Ch Cresthaven's Deju-Ur.

And they line up and Ed looks them over and nods his head and he stares at the first one and then own the line. He is at the end and looks them over and says to stay there and he calls for another group and then they all come in. There goes the first two from the last group and I guess jsut for practice.

YES. In come the entire class. Holly Cow! How Ed does this I have no idea. If he does what he usually does, he will now pull his keepers.

The ring stewards are in the middle. And Ed seems to be on a break but the handlers aren't. We have the best cookies today. I bought them from the store last night.

Ed is talking to the club and says there are a lot of great ones, but some have to go, so bare with him.

Ed takes the first group and looks at them. Now he divides off another group and takes them around, another seven. Seven seems to be the key. JR, moves up the next bunch. Ed sets those aside and doesn't seem to notice that JR moves his group and JR yess and then he gets Ed's attenti on and Ed looks at that group. He holds his lapels and gives them a good look. NOW the next seven. There they go. Very interesting that he retains that knowledge, but he has one of the best minds I have ever seen, in or out of shepherds.

Now he divides another seven out, (I don't want to say cuts) and there they go. Only four there so maybe that was the end. Seven more and that ends with Linda. Another seven, and some applause and I don't know why or for whom the bell tolls. Ed is giving everyone a good look and taht must be it as he heads to the front.

He is taking to the handlers, or maybe the dogs, and he takes out his notes and he pulls Akaya, Aspen, Pochohanas Ain't She Lovely, Dirty, Encore, Ariel, Wow Wow, Fresca, Then came me, Gone with the Wind, Ginger Bread Cookie, Betsy, Thriller, Stimulas Plan La De Da, Capri, and too many to keep naming. Ed is keeping a lot now and sends a lot to keep, and the first cut is going to be small.

Ed is done and talks to what he put to the end. He went from 43 overall to 32, so he has eleven to cut out and gives them a look. The eternal eleven take a pass, Ed goes up to them and pulls Donna, and lets the rest of them go.

Ed is out there checking his list twice. Too many people in front of me. Ed nods his head and goes down the line looking them over, and he seems fine with the 33 he has in the ring. I doubt we will have 33 Selects. Ed asks for the mike. He says hello and says he has 31 and has to get rid of a few and you won't be happy, and that is tough. I love a sensitive man.

They tahke a pass against the wall, seven again. He looks at them at th end. He sets them back. There is no way to know what is going on, but this way everyone in the ring still is happy. Now another group and he watches them against the end and not on the side. Now another group. And now the last group and he looks at them against the wall. Watch for the runners, it is dangerous out there. Ed is making notes again and give them directions. Everyone is posing and the tension is growing.

He moves one dog to th side and walks down the entire class and pulls another Elizabeth. This might be his next cut. Two pulled so far and he is almost at the end. He pulls three more. He has six more. No sense trying to get names yet. He counts what he has left and makes a note and goes to the front. I suspectt the sad six are about done for the day, but what do I know?

He pulls Nancy so now there are Seven and he is going down the line again. He counts again and goes over to the simple seven and tells them to take a run again, and some applause. Ed gives them a look and pulls one and the six continue and now Ed looks them over and he kept the Winner's Bitch and excuses the others.

There are still a shit load of bitches in the ring, I think 28. Ed cuts the class into a group, and from here I can't see how many yet. Eight go around . Now he says another bunch of bitches and hasn't changed the order.

Akaya goes to the side, and Ariel, (these might be his keepers), he looks them over and he is looking at his notes. No way to know which group those two are in. Ed looks them over again and from his first group he has pulled two and takes the rest around again. Seven there. Big name handlers in there. He pulls Sassney to that Side Group and he looks at them and now pulls another group.

Ed tells them to take another lap, and stop back here. He pulls La Dee Dah, then 2muchbling and he leaves the rest over here. In that group there re five, the final five I think. And, not in a good way. Yes, those are excused.

Now there are still 20 left. This might be it. Ed looks htem over and looks to the front. He hasn't moved any yet,they are still in order, so this might be the ones he will keep but rearrange. He takes half the class around. Bob knows the name so we should be able to say who is up there.

Now he takes the rest of them, Bob's bitch at home got out, but they just got her. Good news.

Ed is about ready to start the arranging. NOW Some tension.

Ed looks them over and looks at his notes, and looks up again and again as he checks his notes. He stands back and checks his notes again. Everyone is getting a good look but only in his group. There they go again and Ed watches them against the wall. Ed pulls Fresca and Thriller. He moves to the next group. I don't think I want to be pulled. It can be good to be picked, but not in this ring. Nine just went around, but there are more he pulled La De Da, and he checks his notes and he looks closer and he goes down the line and says something to Liz and they both smile and pulls Enchantress. And he pulls Kelly with Madison Avenue. Over in the hell area are five. Summer is helping me count and there go the final five. I think. And yes, there they go.

There are fifteen in there now, and Ed looks them over. He counts and divides off the group half and half and there they Aspen, Phocohantas, I can type as fast as Bob names them. Now the second group. There they go with Bill Basu in front. Betsy, Capri, Gypsy, and he says they are all Select, all 15, lot's of happy people. Pulled out Encor, moved up Aspen, Bow Chica Wawa. And the rest I don't know the others, but they are all Select. There goes Ginger Bread, Syvaine, Bill Basu, Christie, and he pull Linda wth Diamonds are for ever and puts her up a few.

Encore is in front, and I wonder if he is going to put up brother and sister for GV and GVX. Phocahonatas. Aspin, Wow Wow, Then Came Me and Dirty Look. Gone with the Wind, Capri, Kelly, Ginger Bread Cookie and others. THAT'S IT!

The day of days

Here I am for another day. There is no one in the place except you and me. The lights are bright, the grass is green, I have filled the candy jar, the air outside is cold and crisp and another dog show begins.

Tedi mentioned and I agree that this National has been pleasant, relaxed and comfortable. It is much like last year and I thought in Utah it was because of he small entry. But, now I think it is a reflection of Bill Bergraff and his easy going attitude. Everyone is having a good time, no one is uptight, and there seems to be nothing going on to cause any trouble. The hotel is great, and the arena right here next to it, and even the vendors can watch the show. Those running the arena seem willing to help in any way, and it is just a relaxed atmosphere everywhere.

I am so pleased that people have been so complimentary to Summer. Molly offered to give her some suggestions and Bob and Maryellen Kish said some nice things to her and her mom, and it made her feel good. So many people have come up to her and said how well she did and how proud they were of her. This is the attitude I expect from German shepherd people and it is good to see.

We went to dinner last night with Jane Kerner, Pam Stossor, Jeff Mobeos. Summer and Jacquline. It was, as always great fun. Pat and Celeste Draper stopped by while we were back at the hotel, and we talked for a bit. Summer got her hands on Eli and Dexter. We saw Kobe, but he was in and out so we didn't get up and personal. She also got to see Army in the Parade of Greats. I think she is starting to understand.

Tedi is here now as is Tony and Gary Simzyk is here with Patti, too. Now the crowd is getting here and Bob Grady has another purple suit. I see the vendors are starting to open too.

Late night thoughts

I would express my gratitude on all who have said they enjoy the Blog. It is a great deal of work, and I buy snacks every day and work hard without leaving to get the results out as fast as the class is over. The first few years I sent it at the end of the day. Then one year I could not get out from the stadium, and had to go to a restaurant to post. Then there were the years when Bill Pfeiffer would not let me share the band width of the club. Times have changed and I keep an air card to post as soon as I get done.

Michele is working as hard next to me. I also try to keep Summer entertained, as this is all new for her. She is being so well received.

I had my hands on Eli, Dexter, Patron and Coby today. Now there are four dogs that will blow your mind. I hope everyone has a chance to see the video. LanaLee is working like crazy too and has a professional staff to help give you the live feed.

Frank and Kris Fasano won so much that it looked like they should dedicate the show to them. They have a tremendous breeding program, one outstanding bitch after another. I expect they will have a special too.

I did talk to Ed for a minute and he seems strong. I expect him to do his usual great job, and I am looking forward to it. I have a special place in my heart for Harley and hope that Paula can add Select to his titles. I can't wait for tomorrow.

I can't find anyone to give me the names as they are put up by Ed, so I will just do the best I can. Now for a few minutes of sleep, then back to the BIG SHOW. I can sleep in court on Monday.

Best Puppy

Lew Bunch is here and so is Pam O'Dell. I see Ed is in the ring and looking good in all black. We have the puppies in there with Genereau, Lenny, The Guz and Jeff. There they go and there are four real winners. They look like they are a bit young and I don't know what Ed will like. They are very different. And Now Ed does his first temperament test, and they pose.

I just heard that they are going to have Fran come in for the Best Bred by and hold the memorial trophy. That might be hard to take. I did get to talk to Fran for a few minutes.

The crowd actually has favorites for puppies. The Guz has the 9-12 Bitch. I would pick her as my Best Puppy. He puts Who Says up to the front and behind is the 6-9 puppy dog Intense Desire. That is the way it goes. The Best Puppy is Windfall's Who says V Chablis, The Best Opposite Puppy is Hemonia's Intense Desire.

Now Best Bred By Exhibitor. The Joan Ford Memorial Trophy.

JR comes in first with Cantar's .454 Casull of Richterslust, Then Jeff with Windfall's Sexy Chick V Winstrom, and Ed is looking them over. Ginnie is talking to me, she has a great hair cut.

Jeff gets it, and Best Bred By is Windfall's Sexy Chick V Winstrom.

Stick a fork in me, I am done. Now on to dinner with Pam Stoessor, Jeff Mobeus, and Jane Kerner. Three of my favorite people.

Veterans

This is divided into four classes. 7-9 and 9 and over dogs and bitches.

Only three, Ch Adelhund's Midnight Cowboy, RN, TC, Ch Tempest's Hawk, RE, and Ch Echo-Cham's Esclade. Not a great deal of crowd involvement. I think after Winner's Dog and Winner's Bitch it is sort of a let down.

Bob is looking them over and stops them and moves Hawk to the front then Escalade in second and leaves them that way.

Now on to 9 and over.
In there is Ch Carwin's When They Call My Name CD, RN, Ch Bill-Mar's Here Comes Trouble, RN, and Ch Donagan O'Rourke of Heinerburg. The first two are ten years young. I think Trouble could win in the ring today. A real tribute to the breed. Bob is laughing and the dog looked around him on the individual. Too bad they don't do this before winners.

Trouble with Leslie and Olivia bring in O'Rourke. Trouble goes up front and then O'Rourke. Bob put them up that way, and now on to the Veteran Bitches.

VETERAN BITCHES 7-9

Rita comes in, looking as fresh as she did yesterday morning. I don't know how she does it. This is a real class with all seven who were entered. First is Ch Ponca Hill's Wow Of Ritarra, Then Ch Caralon QED Derouse Bad To The Bone, Ch Todor-Marquis Legally Blonde, Charbo's Mist Finale, Ch Jantar's China Lake of Witmer, Ch Depahl's Brandy, Ch Marquis All About Me RN

Rita has us all applaud these bitches. They look great, and it is just another bitch class. The Guz is talking to us now and is always fun. In front is Brandy, then Wow.

First is Brandy, Second is Wow, Third is China Lake and Fourth is All About Me.

9 and Over Bitches.

All seven are in there, and all champions, Caisson, Persuasion, Tina, Xena, Heart of Anjushrie, Fille De Joie and Deja-Vu. Rita is smiling and going down the group.

Rita is having them each take a pass and they all seem ready to show. Amazing how much better the bitches look than the dogs. They sure know how to pose.

The Champions for tomorrow are outside the ring waiting to get into the ring. Rita has to finish this class, then best Veteran, Best Puppy and Best Bred By and we get to see all the Specials in together. That is what I am waiting for.

Now the last Veteran Bitch 9 and over. They pose and look great. There they all go for maybe the last pass of the year. Rita is watching them and it looks like a normal class. A few are giving up now, and she pulls Deja-Vu in front then Zena and Tina with fourth Heart of Anjshrie. There they go again and Rita watches them and YES, that's the way it is going to be.

Winner's Bitch

On to winner's bitch. Boy, are they nice!

Evan needed another break from typing so he asked me to takeover again.

Miss. Rita is having everyone run around the ring twice. It is amazing how the crowd goes wild when she looks at the bitches.

Rita has them all in there (it's Evan if you can't tell) and takes them down and back. The crowd does have some favorites. The Open Bitch is nice and I see her in front. I like a couple of them, but I don't think they are as good as the males. Interesting development for the breed. Rita takes the first four and tells them each to go in front one time. If I understand that math, that means four times around.

Now I have no way to know what is going on. Scotty in front, Lennie and Jeff with Alex. I think one of those is going to be Winner's Bitch. She moves Lennie up. In first is the Winner's Bitch is WINSOMES HEIRESS V DEPAHL. What a show the Frasanos are having, and clearly because they have fantastic animals. Well deserved.

On for Reserve. In comes Knaufhill's Shania, and the crowd likes her. Kent has her, and down and back. Depahl's Halston is in front with Scottie. That is a littermate to the Winner's bitch and she takes Reserve.

On to the Veterans and then the free for all in the ring.

Winner's Dog

Bob has them line up so we can see the class winners. Bob says he is very proud of this group, and he is right. What a fantastic group of dogs, all top quality.

There they go with Kent in front then American Bred, JR Bred By Mike, another and too many people in the way for me to see. Bob is givine everyone a good look and wants to see the first five, and off they go.

Asgard's Icon is in there and it is the second four, not the first five. He has them step back and now the first five starting with Winner's dog. He walks over and I can't see what is going on, since everyone is lined in front of me. Now I see he is looking them over, and talking to the handlers, and they are staring at Bob trying to five the evil eye. I can see him looking and he moves two up, ONE IS ICON. The other dog is Jordon from the the 15 to 18 dog, and he pulls Lenny with the dog and we can't tell, but I think the 9-12 dog.

It is between the three. There goes Ken and the American Bred, and Mike. Maybe they are in there too. I can't tell. Lots of noise and excitement. Bob wants the other group and there go the three. You don't want to stand still, you could get hurt out there. Now Kent and the crowd likes that and Bob says to drop the lead and stops him, and now the next one, the American Bred, and boy does the crowd go crazy for him. I like him too. Now Asgard's Icon, what can I say?

Not so much cheers for the rest of them and there goes Icon again. I don't think Bob was impressed. Lenny, and not much from the crowd. Kent with Promise Keeper and the other one in Turmeric. I like them both, the crowd loves Turmeric. Bob looks the two over and wants them each down and back. I think he is getting tuff on coming and going.

It is quiet again. Two more, Icon next to last and he is clean as I can see. And only one more to go. Bob gives them all a good look, and he would be hard pressed to go wrong. What a nice group of dogs. He tells everyone to stand up and step back and goes down the line. And gives us all a thumbs up, and is laughing. He tells most of them to relax, and the last three go away, including Icon.

He takes the front three. There they go as a group, Kent American Breed and Mike. Turmeric in front and the crowd is crazy, and Bob isn't done yet. He puts Mike in front so they all get a shot.

It has to be about over, and Bob walks t them and says STAY to us all. He walks around each dog and looks at each one down the head. And he smiles as the handlers try to push him. He now looks at them from behind and puts Kent back in front and Am Bred in Second It looks Like it and YES, WINNER'S DOG IS PROMISE KEEPER.

In comes the second Open Dog and I think the Am Bred will get it, but only Bob knows. Bob takes him down and back just to be sure. Diane brings him back in. Bob goes to the middle and says take them around. There they go and he looks at them and walks very decissivly and looks and YES it is Turmeric.

Open Bitches

I was just talking to Fran, DD, Lew Bunch. I noticed how great DD looked and Lew said he is much taller. Fran looks better than ever, and it is good to see him.

Now, here come the Open Bitches. It looks like 14 in there. Bob and I are having too much fun at the announcer's table. Now it is Rita's turn again.

Paula was here and put her little dog on the table. Not Harley.

Rita takes half of her class around twice and a few of them are panting. Rita starts the individuals.

It's Summer again taking over for Evan again. I am so excited Kirk and I won fourth place in open!

Right now Miss. Leslie is taking her bitch around. Did a nice job.

This morning I got to sleep in until 8:00 A.M. You are probably saying to yourself, 'That's not sleeping in at all'. To me that is!

Well, anyway, back to what is happening in the ring. Mr. Alex with his bitch Expensive Date, is being examined by the judge Miss. Rita. Now she is going down and back. Now around.... Beautiful.

My friend Emily is in the ring as well. She has with her, her brother, Sam's dog. Her name is: Shadow At Still Water. Pretty name, huh? I guess all the dogs/bitches have pretty names.

Miss. Rita just moved up Midnight Celebration in first, Fantasia second, Boom Boom Pow third, and, finally Born To Run fourth.

Evan is back.

Rita is working with the second group. The first one is getting excused. Rita is doing with temperament what I think should be done. Good for her. After the way this week started it is good to see temperament faulted the way it should.

There goes Lenny with Winsomes Heiress V Depaul.

Now Art with Winsome's Candice Beargen V Signature. Kent with Knaufill's Shania. Jon with Dawnhill's Zelda. Bill Basu is standing ringside not in handling clothes. I got to talk to Don Knight and got to hug Gloria and Cappy. Emily is out there with Sammyy's Shadow At Stillwaters. I see Sam isn't watching his sister in there. They were both in Junior handlers. Tiffany is here and watching with a horn, so I think she is double handling.

Last in the class is Wilron's R U Ready 4 The Ride Joelle Trotwood V Su. Now there is a name. It is very quiet in there, so I suppose it will pick up as she gets to her winners. Sean said to say hello to his mother, and I didn't realize Joanne wasn't here. We need her. Lenny up front then Kent and Art, and she looks at the other four. She wants then to go around and I guess she is cutting the winners from the not winners.

She brings the four to the end and tells them all to take them around like that and she watches them against the wall and walks to the front of the line. She is looking them over and pulls out Lenny, then Kent George from the other group, Channing then Leslie. She keeps Art and Jon, and lets the rest go home to think about Saturday.

She does it like that. No noise at all.

Open Dogs

Open Dogs . . . Evan left (some lame excuse about a dog in the ring). 15 are entered, but only 7 are here. Up first is Kent with Promise Keeper (Liz Oster is on the ground in front of us with a bell hiding from the dog). Next is Summer with Kirk (Summer has enough energy that she is running around even when she isn't taking the dog around - must be nice to be young). Next is Kelly with Checkmate, then Scott with J.I.Joe, followed by Denali. Jeff just took Bonafide around; and last up for individuals is Diane with Angus Bull. Bob split the class in two (4 & 3) and looked at each group separately. He is now combining the groups into one with Promise Keeper in front followed by Angus Bull, then J.I.Joe, and then Bonafide. Bob takes the first three around, and looks, but makes no moves. He then takes the next four around. He looks . . . and looks . . but again no changes. He takes them around one at a time. He looks them over again, but still no changes. Next he asks each for a Down&Back. Bob looks . . .and thinks . . and looks some more; but again no changes. He now takes the middle three around and moves Kirk up to third. Then he looks at the first tow and moves Angus up to first, one pass and moves Promise Keeper back in front. So he now has Promise Keepr, Angus, Kirk and J.I.Joe. One more look at the last 3; and then another look at the front four. Bob moves JiJoe back to third and looks satisfied. So they finish Promise Keeper, Angus, J.I.Joe then Kirk.

I am jazzed, Summer got a ribbon at the National. Thanks to Tony for taking over.

American Bred Bitches

Rita is out there and there are so many Bitches I would get confused but she seems to know what she wants to do. She puts them allout on the mark so Bobby can film them. Zak is out there now and I see everyone is in the ring. Bob Grady in his purple suit seems to get even louder. Rita is laughing, she does that a lot.

Now JR is out there. And then a lot more bitches. Rita is placing one group and moves Scottie up front then Lennie. And a bunch of other bitches. Eight in the class. I don't understand why if you have a class of 18 you divide them into two groups of nine, but if you have a group of nine, you divide them into a class of five and four.

Now on to the second group. Paige is in there, and they aren't showing Way To Go. I think they might be banking on Paige.

What's up everyone! It's Summer again taking over for Evan who needs a break. I was so lucky that I got to come to the Nationals. Just wanted to say thank you to my dad for making this possible, and a big thanks to my little brother Adam for all of his support.

Back to some big announcements! Miss. Nancy McDonald is hosting an exciting junior handler seminar. I can't wait to attend that! It should be fun.

My friends Emily and Sam Bedea are here from Oklahoma and are excited to show in juniors. Right now they are grooming their dog.

In the ring Miss. Rita is down to seven bitches. They are all very gorgeous. Miss. Diane is in front of everyone.

She is down to the nitte grittie and in front is Lenny and she has Mike in second with Paige, but there is Scott in front of those two so Paige is third, and Kent is in fourth. Four fantastic bitches. I can't see them move, too many people in front of me. She said they are going to go around four times. I am just amazed at these athletes. There they go with Lenny in front and Paige in second. Mike gives her the full lead. I like what I see but I am not judging so I will leave it to Rita. And there they go. There are some pieces and everyone seems to like Kent's the best.

Rita sets them aside and Scott is in front and Laureen is having a fit. There go the last three. She has five great bitches in there. I would have a hard time to pick the top ones here, Rita did a tremendous job here. And she takes the three around again, giving everyone a chance in front. There they go.

Rita walks the group and tells us all to get a life, too much yelling and off they go. I think that is is, and YES, Scott, Lenny Mike and Kent. First is Depahl's Halston, Second is Signature's Tortolla V Winsome, third ois Hicliff's Paige Kenlyn V Cherpa and fourth is Clementine Of Oh-My.

American Bred Dogs

I may have titled the last one so don't listen to anything I say. If you don't believe me, ask Tedi.

In there are the American Bred Dogs. There are eight in there. Emilly and Sam are here and Sam did recognize me. They are both in Junior handlers. They are with Jan Troxell. Scottie is out in the ring and Bob is doing his usual good jobs. Zak is out there now with Deblyn's T Jr's Out of Control. And lots of down and back, not that interesting.

Rita came by to make sure I said good things. I told her about what I said. Ann Schultz is talking to us now.

Scott goes to the front and ins second is Turmeric and there they go and lots of good dogs in there. And now the next group with Diane in front and off they go, the five. It is getting to be the end of the class right now. Summer is taking one of the Junior handlers around to meet everyone. Suzy Witmore is with us now and Leslie is talking to us.

Bob is judging , while I am blogging. He is doing a better job than I am. I have way too much going on, and tomorrow is the big day. While I have been smoozing, Bob has it down to a few keepers. I see some off to the side, so I am not sure what is going on, but this might be the second class. With Diane in front. Bob says, take them around and off they go. I sort of like what George has, but he is sorta of big. Bob looks them over as they stack and he moves Diane in front then George, so I guess I was right. And another pass. The crowd is up for Diane's dogs.

He stands and looks them over again, and Bob is filming it all. He walks to the front and calls the rest of them to the ring. Out they come and Nancy loses her dog, and gives him to Leslie. I guess Nancy came into the ring to cathch him and they aren't in the class, but it was a nice try. The crowd laughed and liked it. Bob looks over the groups and too many people in front of me, Scott goes to the frong and Diane in third and George in fourth another two with Lenny at the end,and he takes the rest around and there are just three. Yes, he lets them go.

Now on to the rest. There they go the first three only and the double handlers are going crazy and running like the end of the world. Now the second three and off they go with George in front. I do like that dog, a big handsome male. And they stop at the end of the line. Joanna Rand is here now with information. And they stack at the end of the ring so I can see their backs. And here come the double handlers.

He tells the handler to drop the lead and take another pass. There goes Diane, and he crowd is high on him, but he is bored on this pass. Now we have George out there, each gets his own pass, and he is having a problem cutting the ring. Lenny took a pass. Bob looks them over and tells them to take another pass. There they go and a lot of noise and whistles. Bells enough. Bog is eady and NO, he stopes them again. I thought that was it, but he keeps looking at George and comes over to the dog but doesn't do anything and walks to the front. He looks at them and moves the second dog to the front. A real crowd favorite. And he tells them to walk. Down and back and in front is Krindler's Turmeric V Signature. A good moving dark dog.

Off they go again. I have never seen double handling this much, and there go the first three. I do like those two dogs in front. Bob is doing a great job. But then, he always does. Now the second half with Diane in front, and just two in there. I guess he has five left and he stops them and makes not changes. He walks over to them, and they are at the end of the ring. He tell them to take them all around and stop at the end. This should be it. I don't know how many passes it has been. But there they go again and the roar is amazing and he looks and stops them again.

He lines them up so we can see them in the center of the ring. As he walks the group the corwd loves the first and fourth, but Bob smiles and stands back and says he loves them all. What a group of dogs.

First was Kridler's Turmeric V Signature, Second is Kaleef's Dennis The Menace, Third was Forest Knoll When It's Right Hadori and fourth is Legate Hill's Forth And Won.

Now the Bitches are in there and I count fourteen. I see Olivia is with us and I got her to take a cookie.

BRED BY DOGS

First is Windfall's No Surprise of Shadyrock with Lenny and then JR with Cantar's .454 Casull of Richterslust. I love having the big type. I don't know if it is an age thing or not. Now some people are coming in. Jeff says a little slower, I think he means the owners. Yes, he takes them slow on a loose lead. Now JR goes out there. He had a black suit that is a bit of shine, and it looks special for the show. Bill Leonard says the German Influence is incredible. But then again, what does Bill know? I have always liked Bill but we are both just a little nuts.

Jeff still in front and the second dog is Bud Drews and he is working and there he goes with JR in front. Bob folds him arms and looks them over as they move and he gives JR first and Jeff second. Or maybe he was judging the dogs.

ON TO THE BITCHES

Sue Godek is here and asks for the magazine that Paula gave me with the ad for Harley. I figure better her than me. It looks like there are 12 in there, and she divides the class in half.

I just spent some time with Jane Kerner and talked to Jeff. He is hold a great half German dog, but needs a handler for Open Dogs for him. I saw Joan Fox but we both were moving and working the crowd. Kent is talking to Bob Eaton, and Rita is in the ring judging Bred By Bitches.

Debbie Hokanan is taking to us and told me she lost 40 pounds. She is looking fantastic. Maureen Charlton stopped by for a minute and has some great diamond bone earrings. Bob The Voice Of The National is in the ring with his bitch. What a class. Every one of the top handlers have now become breeders. It is good to see Bob in the ring again, maybe I will have to give it some consideration.

Helen Gleason is in there with a bitch now and she has a toy in her mouth. The bitch, not Helen. If she can do it, why can't I? Helen has Nocturne's Lyunda TC and she is breathing hard. Maybe that is why I don't do it. In second in this group is Joe Beccia. Now he is fourth, since she moved Al Martin up to first with Almar's Savannah, and in second is Cindy Tellefson with mariner's Reason of Shadow Acres and there they go. Helen is keeping up and she makes me proud.

Rita says they are going too fast and she can't see them. Slow down and no double handlers. Off the go, slower and they do look better. I like Joe's sable bitch byt she moves Jon Beyer to second wiht Skylyne's American Idol and puts them off to the side.

Now on the the second class with Jeff and Windfall's Sexy Chick V Winstrom. Bob Dresher is in there with Jonah-Malibar's Razzle Dazzle. Abby is there with Stonewall's Dark Angel, and Karen Taylor is sitting with us at the table.

I don't see many people who aren't normally in the ring. Except for Bob, of course. He so far looks fine, but I have oxygen ready. OK, here goes Bob. I am watching him. Nice bitch and he cut the ring. He is as smart as he looks. Beth Riese is out there now with Kaholli's Monaco of Ferlin. I wonder where Summer and Jacqueline are? They aren't here yet. Maybe the pace caught up to them. I see Barbara and Stacy are here, so now we can enjoy the national.

Out in the middle of the ring is Kelly with Trios Rumor Has It V Marquis. She is in red and black. I just complimented the people at the Purina booth for having the GSDCA colors on. They reminded me that is also the Purina colors. She moves Jeff to the front and Beth in second, for this group.

Jeff goes to the front, the others are blocked but Abby is in second then Marilyn Sgarbossa, and off they go. Bob The Voice is leading his group and Rita sends them all out of the ring. My location is limited now, that everyone is here. Summer and Jacqueline just got here.

Lots of noice now and there they go with everyone being a handler except Marilyn and she rearranges them and now Rita calls them off.

Bob Grady has a bright purple suit today and I do mean bright. I see that Zak is here this early and so is Richard Sottile. I see Ha J too and his black dog looked great yesterday. He is a good one too. I did talk to Helen Gleason yesterday and she said the seminar went well.

There were three sisters who sang yesterday, and it sort of reminded me of O Brother Where Art Thou? Remember the girls at the river? It was sort of like that. Nadine Grady is giving Bob directions. And so far only about ten people here. I don't think they are going to start in eight minutes. Maybe I have the wrong time. I know it is the right place because I recognize the sod. Dick Jones is here and does a good job each day as a ring steward. They are putting microphones up to catch the crowd noise, so everyone needs to be careful of what they say.

Agility and Rally winners are in there now. Misty Blue is there with Karen. She is the agility victrix from last year. Casson was high scoring again and that is a name we all know well. She has a little gray, but looks good with Julie Degan and she looks great too. Rally High Score Vision of Beauty (Champion) with Laura Falkner, Rescue winner she is here and was high scorer and Jennifer has loved her and worked her to a winner after her owner took her to be put down. That brought tears to my eyes.

Michael Avery came by and I called him Rodger yesterday. I tell you not to listen to anything I say, or believe anything I write. Tony is announcing as is normal, and Bob isn't here yet. It must have been a long night for him. I see Norma Hansberg at the end of the ring, and Sam Israel is walking by with his champion bitch.

In come Amateur Owner Handler Dogs.

First so far is Go For The Gusto of Edan with Elizabeth Wilkerson. Second is Colbyhaus Rise From the Ashes with Linda Colby. And now another comes in to go first with Lutzhaus Romanov's Black Bear with Holly Leas. It will be fun to see these young ladies make the ring and I do know that Elizabeth has a bitch in AOH as well.

Bob is smiling and there goes the first one. Three girls and they all look fit. Up front goes Elizabeth with Linda in second and then Holly, and Bob stops them and walks over an dpulls them up and gives them direction and asks if anyone needs a Elizabeth, and now Linda and she is keeping up with a long loose lead and looks great. Then Holly dressed all in black.

Elizabeth wins and then Linda and Holly. They all win, as they all survived.

On to AOH Bitches.

Rita is there now with a long black skirt and white bling jacket. She looks like a teenager. Michel just got here. He is a great help as he writes a large letter catalog for me read. Lenny is waking by and they are calling for Bred By Dogs.

In comes Elizabeth with Windfall's Emancipation of Mimi and then Val Manning with Mar Haven's Evangelina of Terranorte. Val will do fine and Elizabether looks good too. I do admit that Elizabeth is breathing hard. Tom Mesdag is talking with us now and Tony Michel and I are working hard to bring the word to the world. Sounds good, doesn't it? Not many people in the stands yet. Sharron Avery came by and took a piece of candy. Al Martin came by to say hello to us, and I see that there are some dogs at the ready ring. Dick Jones brings in some water for Elizabith. Georgie is here now and Bill Leonard is selling DVDs of the German Sieger Show. And there goes Val. I like the slit in Rita's dress, it is in the back but does brighten the day.

Off the two of them go with Elizabeth in front. Now Val moves to the front and Rita watches them and YES that's it, first to Val and then Elizabeth. They both look like they are glad it is over. Bob Kish came by and said hello. He still looks like he has plenty of judging left in him.

I see Linda Bankhead and she never seems to get older. Oak came over to give me a high five. I see Tedi got up and is talking to Ann Schultz. Bob The Voice of The National just walked in. Dania got the Connie Beckhard award. Rick Olawski is here too and I see Lenny waiting to go in.

Early on Friday

Here I am at an empty arena. It is about 6:00 a.m. when I got started today and now about an hour before show time. No one is here except you and me. I see the video people are starting to get here, they work every minute.

I reflected on the show, and so far it is a good national. Some joy, some tragedy, a bit of controversy and over all just another dog show.

I saw Molly last night and she offered to give Summer some tips, so that is another good thing. I talked to Jim York and before I left California I tried to resolve some problems with one of the Texas clubs, I think I got it done. I also sent off a letter yesterday from the law office to stop someone from getting involved with an award for Daphane Herford and Rin Tin Tin. I hope it worked.

I was able to write some letters yesterday and send them to the office to get them sent, this is a great invention this internet.

I was sorry Zoe is not on the board and I understand Frank is our new president. It should be interesting to see if he can contain the spending and losses and take the club in his direction. He sure is having a great national, and I look forward to getting behind him and working toward the future of our club.

I didn't attend the meetings. The days are long enough without that too. When I was younger we used to stay out until the early mornings, but so far it seems like the days are too long as they are. I saw Sally Sedgwick last night with Paula, and Paula gave me the keys to Tedi's van and we checked out the organ. It is even nicer than I remembered it. Harley looks good and it will be nice to see him in the ring again. Tony just got here, and he is another who comes early.

It now is starting to look like a show now as they drag in. It is lucky that Specials are so exciting, as we would be all done by Friday night. The big dogs come in today with American Bred and so I expect some energy as well. Both Bob and Rita are moving it along and giving everyone a good look.

Half an hour to show time, and I am jazzed.

I am beat, and it was a fun day. Icon won his class, Celeste and Pat Draper are pleased as can be. I got to put my hands on Ellen's great dog and it think it will be between him and Kobe. But, I also think that Patron is going to be in there.

I do need to take more breaks but it is hard to get anyone to take over. Tony did help a few times but he also is being pushed for announcing.

I am enjoying getting the word out to you and also watching the dogs. I have the best seat in the house, and except for double handlers it is great.

I will be back early tomorrow and only a couple of classes but large ones. I promise to do the best I can.

Novice Bitches

OK, one more class to go, but it is a big one. I see them in the ring and I count ten in there.

First is Kent, Phill, Greg, Lenny and Jeff. Half the first group. Phil is out there with Topline's Belle Of The Ball now, and next is Greg with Zukerdok's Ember of Lonwood a bi mostly black.

Lenny has to be reminded but then does see there is a dog show and brings out his sable. Rallyns Honey Bee. There goes the fist five.

She moves Lennie to the front, then Phillip, Kent, Jeff and Greg.

Here goes the second five. I do like some of the bitches as they stand, but in movement, not so much. It is good to have Bob here again. Rita might have trouble with this class too.

Scott is up with Caretti-Jerrwin's Bewitched. Now Jon with Wyndean's Francesca De Vici. This is bred by Hazel and Larry Parks who are responsible for Tedi and I being in this sport. But, don't blame them. I stopped and saw Larry a couple of weeks ago when I was back in Grand Rapids. I went to Michigan Magician's Week to perform with my aunt, who just turned 98.

Dawn and Twyla are here. Olivia is out there with Aramist Bodega's Made in China. Christie is there with Keylis Quick Thyme Izzy, and last is Almars Nicolla with Alex.

More judging and there goes the group. Rita crosses her arms and watches them against the wall. She walks over and put Christie in second behind Scottie, and everyone is in front of me so I can't see what is going on. Rita tells them to take them around, she is about 10 feet in front of me. And She watches them all the way with Scottie in front then Christie, Alex and Olivia, and tells Christie to take the lead and there she goes, and now she takes the end of the line. Five with dreams about tp end. But she takes Lenny to the front then Morris then Christie and Scottie and lets four stand off and no, she takes them around. I can't ell what she likes but I think these might be her dumps, and YES, that is what she does.

Now there are six. Lennie, Morris, Christie Scott, Alex and Olivia. Rita takes them around and now walks from the back to the front of the class and smiles and tells them again. There they go and everyone is giving directions, only one at a time. Lenny uses the whole ring. Morris gives a very loose lead, Christie has a tight lead and lets it go all the way out,a nd there goes Schoo with a full lead too. Rita isn't looking very long, and Alex takes a pass, again a short loo. Then Olivia. Rita only watches them for half the time. She walks to the class and looks them over and says all together.

First is Rallyns Hone Bee, second is Topline's Belle Of The Ball, third is Keylis Quick Thyme Izzy and fourth is Carretti-Jerrwen's Bewitched.

Now on to the Stud Dog Brood Bitch class. If you want to see this, you have to be here. So, more tomorrow.

Novice Dogs

We are on to Novice dogs and I see Bob back in the ring and there are nine in there. Bob and Rita are going a great job, and Rita just got caught up in that last decision. It wasn't hard.

There are some handsome dogs in there. I think Candia's Ya Think is going to be hard to beat. Nancy brings Ya Think in the for individual, he looks good. Leslie brings in Trouble and makes a nice pass with some crowd support. Scott takes Heartbreaker around - he gets a little crowd support and the dog breaks into a gallop. But Scott settles him down for a nice pass. Next up is Mike with Guardian. The crowd seems to like Guardian. Next up is Amanda with Coriander;

Thank Tony for that help. You know when he posts, the grammar is correct and no spelling errors. I, on the other hand, let it all hang out.

Bob has his first group in there with all the individuals done. I see Nancy in front, now Mikie moved to first then Leslie and Scott and just like that Nancy is in third. And off they go. Now the second group, with Jon, Kent, Sean and Christy. Now all the individuals.

I have a problem with the internet connection and can't figure out what to do with it. Abby Hathaway is here with Susie Witmore, and changing the Stud Dog Presentation. A dog got loose and ran out, and I see he is not coming back. First time I have seen that. Lenny has Windfall's I Gotta Feeling. Christy has Keylis Good Thyme Charlie.

Then there were three.

They stack with Jon, Lenny and Christie. Bob wants them around. Bob moves Lenny up with Christie behind and at the end Jon. Most of the people are standing by the ring. I don't know why. Now he takes out the other three and puts them in front. I see Joey double handling so I know he has a dog in this fight, Mike to the front, then Lenny, Leslie Scott and Christy. Some temperament problems at this national, and maybe it is just the young dogs. If you get the video you know what I am talking about. Nancy moves up one. She is now in Best Of Dump.

Bob tells them to get rid of the double handlers. Off goes Mike and Bob says drop the lead. Now Lenny, and then Leslie. I am underwhelmed with this class, but that is just me. Bob is laughing and looks fresh and looks them over as they take a pass. He moves Lenny up to the front. And Mike back in front. Linda Selman is going crazy. That is it!

First is Wolf Creek Guardian V Merivern, Second is Windfall's I Gotta Feeling, third was Athena's Trouble On The Autobahn and fourth is Marquis' They Call Me Heartbreaker of Anne Isle. Linda just told me she is going to put a Schutzhund title on Gardian.

I doubt I can send this but I will try. Only Novice Bitch to go.

In the 15 to 18 bitch class are 13 entered and in they come with twelve. Michel just came in, late in the afternoon so he is catching up. Now I won't have to post full names.

Rita walks the line and it seems there are a lot of people ready to double handle. Rita divides it into a group six. First is Morris with Sanderin's Pillow Talk. Next up is Alex with Signature's Blair. Then next up is George with Brown Hill's Caribian Sea Crest. Jean Whalen came by to get the placings, and everyone seems quiet now. Karen Tayor is here now and so we are talking. Next up is Jon Byer with TRJ's No More Payton Place, Then Kelly with Mari'Fiori's SomethingRoyal. Next is Zak with Mar Haven's Rain Dancer. Greg has Zukerdok's Almondene of Lonwood. Then Diane with Ferlin's Mustang Sally of Kaholli, Jeff with Shadyrock's Billie Jean, Mike with Wolf Creek Idyllic of Merivern, Leslie with Bleibtreu's Unique Quelland Cresthaven and Al With Tuthill Abria Prophecy. Summer is helping me. Michel did the entire catalog in big print and that helps.

Hey everyone, it's Summer again filling in for Mr.Evan who is yet again taking another break. My mom and I have been sitting here at the show for almost NINE hours. I'm surprised that I am not getting bored.

Right now Miss. Rita is having the bitches and the handlers run a lot. Lap after lap after lap. It looks very tiring. I'm glad I am not in that class.

All the bitches look to me pretty nice. Right now, Miss. Rita is going over Ferlin's Mustang Sally Of Kaholli.

Well, Mr. Evan is back so I shall let him takeover.

I'm back. I think Summer does a good job, but Rita is out there doing her thing. Now Leslie is in the middle of the ring. Her bitch is Unique, and I guess with Michel back, I can shorten the posting as he will have the winner's. Al goes in wit Godbye. That is how I feel right now. Everyone seems to think this is a long day. Rita goes to look over the group and too many people in front of me and up front does Diane, the Sean and Al with George. In front is Mustang Sally. I like the name and the song. Boy, the double handlers are getting serious. Off goes this group. Rita sets them aside and goes to her other group.

There they go with Alex in front Morris in the back. I don't know what is going on, but then I was gone for a while. Alez to the front with Learning To Fly and then Caribrian Sea Crest.

Rita send a group out and then there were six. Alex and George then Diane and Sean with Al and on the end Mike. I think Rita may be making a move she looks them over and talks to the first bitch and lets the other three stand with only George and Alex together, Alex in front. She moves Georgie up front, maybe to just see them that way,a nd the crowd doesn't seem to support that. Rita has her arms behind her and walks over to them and looks stern, and she says to leave them that way and wants to see the other four.

Off those four go. Rita goes to look at the first one and cups her chin and looks at the second one and back to the first one and wants those two again. I think she has a tough time deciding. George goes in front and Alex in second. Rita says take them easy and George is yelling at the handlers and each of them take it by themselves. One at a time. There goes Alex and the crowd likes him better. Diane gets the yelling going and that is the crowd favorite. Very different bitches, and that makes it hard. Rita is taking to them and I can't hear it, but it looks like she is trying to stop the double handling. And off go the first four again. Off again. Rita is having a real hard time here. And now Alex is in front with George in back, so I assume each is getting a chance in front. Now Diane is in front and that is the crowd favorite. I like her the best, but I am not judging.

I heard Rita saying she was going to run them to death, with a bit of humor. Another pass. Paula came by, so I did mention her. I can't imagine how they old up, but Alex goes in front then Diane, George and Sean.Signature's Blair YES, THAT IS IT!

I think I lost all my old stuff. So we are on to 15 to 18 dogs with Bob in the ring with six entries. It is getting old here and Michel is next to us with Summer in between.

There they Scottie in front, Jerry then soeone and Sean Mike and Kent. It is hard to do this as people stand in front of me. And they start individuals - Scott is up with Philip Michael. Jerry is next with Cyucas (and gets some crowd support). Next up is Sean, (wrong) with New Beginnings. Bob Kish seems to be having a good time, laughing with the handlers. Jeff Pyle is up next with Top Gun. Top Gun looks a little bored waiting for his turn & tries to pull down the ring fencing; but they get it put back and Jeff/Top Gun goes out for his individual. Top Gun gets more crowd support than most. Mike comes up next with Jaxx. And last is Kent with Jordan. A quick trip around, and they are all lined up.

Tony was helping out and there goes the other three. Georgie is here. With a camera found in the parking lot. Now they line up together. Sean went in front with My Joy-Foxhaven Top Gun then Kent went to front with Karizma's Jordan Kaleef VonLoar. And off they go. I am getting burned out on who is in there and off goes Mike, The Guz and Scottie. Still six in ther with Kent in front. Bob is walking and moves The guz up to fourth with Krizma's Cyucas V Kaleff Cantar.

The Guz has an all black. Each goes by themselves and the crowd seems to have some picks but no one seems outstanding. And, they line up again. Sheree just walked in front double handling, and I can't tell which one. Bob wants them Down and Back. First is Kent. Now Jeff with My Joy-Foxhaven Top Gun. Now the third dog, TRJ'Gidean New Beginnings into second and there they go. This might be it. Yes.

On to the 12-15 dogs, with Asgard's Icon. I don't know who that there Asgard is, but they sure have some nice dogs.

I had a nice break, and so I am ready to go again. In Frnt is Kent, then Mike then Jeff and Nancy with Icon. Kent has Welove CuChien's Captain America. He is an Army son, and I do like him. Next is Mike with Knight's Gambit Krug, a dog I dearly love. He is owned by the Knights who I am fond of too. Jeff has Brigelady-Hillside's One for The Money. This is an exceptional class.

And now Nancy with a repeat of Kirk, Asgard's Icon. Next up is Liebchien's Yuoshi V Joelle. Chistie with Keylis Happy Thyme. There go the first three, and Bob is watching. A lot of yelling and off they go with Icon in the front of this group.

Icon goes to the front. And off they go. Now the second time one time by themselves and Off Goes Icon by himself. Here they go again, Icon still in front. He looks great, and they all go off.

First is Asgard's Icon, second is Welove Du Chien's Captain America, third is Knight's Gambit Krug and fourth is Keylis Happy Thyme.

9-12 Puppy Bitches with Tony

On to 6-9 Puppy Bitches . . . . Evan stepped away. While he was gone, we completed a couple of classes. In 6-9 Puppy Bitches, 14 entered and 10 shown (4 absenses). 1st place was Windfall's Who Says v Chablis; 2nd was Rosewood's Alchemy; 3rd was Depahl's Im Too Sexy; and 4th was Witmer's Got Her Groove at Bodan; but it was too long ago for me to remember who showed what.

The crowd is started to get a little tired - not so many people wandering around, and less noise from the crowd. They bring in the 9-12 Puppy Dogs; 8 in this class, and they are split in half. The first half was pretty quiet (I think some people were getting lunch). The crowd seems to be waking up again. Just watching the end of the indivduals - Diane Brown has Renegade and Mike Sherman has Damion. Next is Lenny with King Edmund (nickname is Eddie Spaghetti - wonder why). Not that individuals are over the crowd is starting to get interested again. Bob pulls up Edmund, Broken Arrow (Kelly), Renegade, Damion and Peyton (Gregg Eschette). Now that he has placed some, the crowd is starting to make some noise as he starts taking the group around. Renegade moves up a spot. Another lap. And that's it. Edmund (Lenny); Renegade (Diane); Broken Arrow (Kelly) and Damion (Mike).

Evan came by, saw someone else was typing away (and not stealing his laptop) and decided that eating was more important than typing. So off he went.

And in come 9-12 Bitches. There are 12 entered, but so far, only 6 have shown up. Rita checks them all, and starts judging. She decided not to split the class. First up is Dilemma. Most of the conversations at this point revolve around food – the consession food is not that great; some people went out to find something (some went to the hotel). I see lots of people who opted for candy bars instead of a real lunch. Next up is cranberry delight. Next is Al Martin with Leah. Next is Elizabeth Steifferman with Kissing Bandit. Each bitch has received some audience support (maybe everyone went back to sleep). Next up is Jeff Pyle with Love Bandit. And last is Lenny with Albeartina. Everyon is back in line; Rita takes a quick look down the line, and sends them around the ring. She pulls Love Bandit & Albeartina to the front. Then then pulls Kissing Bandit and Leah into 2/3. And they go around (Love Bandit, Kissing Bandit, Leah and Albeartina in front). Rita walks over and gives some specific directions; one more time around; and that's how they finish - Love Bandit, Kissing Bandit, Leah and Albeartina.

And the announcer calls for 12-15 Dogs. It's almost 3 o'clock, and we still have 6 classes and the stud dog/brood bitch presentation left for today (I need a nap).

This is the Purina Award to the top breeder of the Futurity winners. So it goes to Linda Slmon and Manuel and Norma Campo with a donation to the club.

6-9 Puppy Bitches are in the ring. Nine in there. Rita cuts in two and has her first five in there. Tracy Radigan is here and we are talking about Janice Staley.

Lots going on, but nothing that interests me. A lot of cute bitches. Jeff goes in front with Who Says V Chablis with Kelly behind with Alchemy.

Now the second group, George, Kent, Lenny and Olivia. Only four in this class. Kent has a puppy that is from a half German breeding and is very nice. The sire is Pasha Von Seewolf and Bob says he has an older dog that is fantastic from the same dog.

Olivia is in the ring and has a sort of Mohawk haircut. It works on her. Edie Troke walked by smoozing with Bill Basu. Now the group lines up, George, Kent, Lenny and Olivia. Lennie up front with Im Too Sexy and in second Got Her Grove. Now she combines them and sends Who Says V Chablis and in second Alchemy. There they go and the crowd loved that, and that's the way it is going to be.

First Windfall's Who Says V Chabils, second is Rosewood's Alchemy, third is Depahl's Im Too Sexy and fourth is Witmers Go Her Grove At Bodan.

Liana New is here talking about the scooter last night.

I lost all I had done. Bill Leonard is here, and maybe it is his fault. Tony came back and Bob has cut the 6-9 dog class in half and is working on the last part. I have great pithy comments of every dog shown so far, and great insight.

George has Masrock's Make an Offer I Can't Refuse, next up is Hicliff's Sam I Am. I think people went to lunch. I got some Nacho's with peppers. Another mistake. I am just not into hot stuff. Except for dogs. Christie has Sam and there she goes, it is the end of this group.

Bob is watching and gives everyone a goodlook. For one reason Harmonia's Intense Desire is out of order so he goes out there. Bob Grady just called for 6-9 bitches. There goes the last group of four. This shouldn't take long. Generau goes to the front with Make an Offer behind him and there they go. Bob combines the classes with Genereau in front then Rock Star and off they go. Now the end of the class. Not much going on and Bob walkes to them and says "One at a Time". George next wtih Make An Offer. Here comes Paula without Harley. It just lacks something.

That is the way it goes, first is Harmonia's Intense desire, second is Masrock's Make Me An Offer I Can't Refuse, third is Hicliff's Sam I Am, and fourth is Tanavega's Rock Star.

Maturity Bitch finals

The bitches are in there and Bob is back to judge. Eight are in the ring. Tedi went to buy a beer and they wouldn't sell to her without ID. Very Cool.

Bob is working the first group of five. Page is in the second group, so we are all excited here. Well, Kirk isn't that impressed. The crowd is a bit reserved right now. I sat with Twylas for a bit. At the end of the group is Art, who just went into second with Scottie in front, Olivia now in second and then Are with Linda and then Al Martin and they go off to contemplate if they should have entered or not.

Out comes the next group with Liz, then Mike, JR, Lenny and Alex. Summer is too tired to give me names, so I think I may just wait to announce the winners. I will save myself for the real classes. I know this one with Mike Paige. I like the owners a lot, and I do love the bitch.

There they go with Mike in second and Liz in front. Paige is my favorite, but I admit I can be influenced. I have to admit Liz has a great bitch. Paige goes in front and then Lenny in second. Lenny's bitch looks great too, three super bitches. Now Lenny in front and then the rest pulled up to look at. Jerwin Aspen, and as he pulls it is Lenny then Mike and I think that is how it is going to stay. But, what do I know?

Lots of double handling now, and about noon time. He lets all but six go, and takes the first three, Lenny, Mike and Scott. What fantastic bitches. Now he looks at the other three, and he has the best up front. He wants them easy and slow, and I don't know if the handlers will do it. Bob turns his back on them and there they go. It white wall on the side he is looking at. Lenny gives him the whole lead and there goes Paige. It should be between the first two. That's it, Jerwin Aspen wins it.

Now on to the show. No break, and I think I will go to lunch anyway.

The Maturity dog is Select Champion Laslar's League of His Own of Somerset Rose. But the big news is that Summer was in fourth place with Kierkegaard. What a thrill, and a class of 14, so it was just great. I have to admit Kirk got bored, but Summer didn't miss a step.

Rita excused yesterday's Winner's Dog and Best of Breed, for trying to bite Breauhausen's Legacy II. It was a shame as that is a super dog, except for that problem.

I need a smile break.

Bob is in the ring and his calls is divided in half. Kenny Cunningham is here. Bob has a class of six. They are all working now. Bob takes the next one, and I took a break for breakfast. Big mistake, again. Some bad news, but I won't post it.

Now the whole group and there they go. He moves Scottie to the front. And now to the next group. Gloria just came by and wants the numbers announced. They don't want to do it. Everyone is going nuts without numbers. There is a supplement with the numbers in it, but no one seems to know that.

Some nice bitches in there, and a lot of double handling. I have people in front of me, but I can get glimpses of the class. Bob is walking the line and giving everyone a look and he moves up Lenny in front with Kent in Second. I can't see the number but I like what he did here.In front is Winsome's Heiress V Depaul, and now he combines the groups and in front is Scottie. He looks over the last four and lets them go. Now he has six in there. In front is Scottie and then Lennie, Kent, Genereau, and too many people in front of me. He just takes the first three, and now the last three. In front is Depahl's Halston, and Bob says one at a time and slow and loose. What a great bitch. Now the next one. That too is a great bitch. What Quality. I can't see the numbers. Bob gives them a good look. And they line up, the six left. He wants to see the group one time. And in front is Scottie still with Lennie right behind.

Scottie wins with Depahl's Halston.

Now the two winners Maturity winners, Wolfcreek's Guardian V Merivan (Bubba J), and Depahl's Halston. Now Bob is going over the two of them, Mikie with the Dog and he is a good one. Rita did a great job. I do like that dog. Very strong and mature with an iron back. Now Bob takes them together. Stunning couple of animals. And Bob switches and the dog is in front. Scottie has the bitch and there they go.

Futurity Dogs

Don Knight is here. Kent is in the ring, so I guess we are ready for a dog show.

Futurity dogs in there now, and all men handlers. I like that in a dog show. Oh, in comes Nancy, so she ruined that, now I see Christie is in there. I see 13 in there and here comes Rita. All the big names are there.

Rita pulls out six and it is Kent, Georgie, Shaune, Lenny, Mikie and Christie. There they go against the white wall. Rita has figured it out already. Now Rita has them stack on the line so Bob can film them and now she does a loose lead test. There is a real buzz, since there is no way to know who the dogs are but we have numbers but now we have numbers since they are in order. I can tell you the handlers, but I am working hard to figure out who is in the ring. Rita is doing her thing, and it is quiet here.

She takes them around again, there goes the class. Rita stands with her hands behind her back. I can't believe it, she is wearing gold slippers. I guess better than ruby ones.

She moves Mike to the front with Wolfcreek Guardian V Merivern. And they go that way. Mike, then Kent, Sean and George. She moves Christie with Hi-Cliff's Razzle Dazzle of Zyut to fourth. Pam Stoesser and Don Knight came by. Rita is looking over the rest of the class, the other class, with Jeff then Alex, I see Bill Basu, JR Art and Nancy. I will give you names in a minute.

Bob and Charlotte Funk came by and it is good to see him doing so well. He had the same surgery I did, and is working through what I had, and I know what it takes.

HELLO EVERYONE! IT IS SUMMER KHATIB ONCE AGAIN. TODAY HAS BEEN A FABULOUS DAY , EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NOT SHOWN YET. KIRK AND I ARE SO EXCITED 'CAUSE IT'S OUR FIRST NATIONAL!

MISS.TEDI JUST WENT TO THE STALLS TO FETCH KIRK AND GROOM HIM. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL WE'RE IN THE RING.

ANYWAY MR. MIKIE JUST GOT MOVED UP TO FIRST WITH... I CAN'T FIND THE- OH HERE IT IS: WOLFCREEKS GUARDIAN.

In the beginning

Here we are again. Rodger and Sharron are here talking to Bob and I. Summer just got here so we are ready to go. The clubs are gathering for the parade, and so far only the workers are here. Tony is here too, and Bobbie dressed to film. Tom Brown is here early, and I see that Dean Wylie is selling catalogues too. I see Nadine Grady is already working with Mimi, and I saw Iliana and the Kishs are here. Bothed dressed up and I think only one is judging this day.

Lew is here and ready to go in for the parade. Bob is in the ring talking to Bob Grady who is in dark red. I think he saves the white suit for Saturday. There are three beautiful sisters who are going to sing. They are from San Antonia, and really impressive. Jacqueline is taping the singing and they are in the ring with a German shepherd.

The Montoyfull sisters. What a great singing and what fabulous looking young ladies. Bob and I have some comments to make, but we are restraining ourselves. Bob Kish came by and said hello to us. In come the clubs.

Now the Herding winners. Dixie was the big winner. I was asked to use the full names, but I don't have time so you have to depend on Michel to do the catalogs and winners. Kathy Potter is here and I have high hopes for Kobe. He has a great head shot on the back cover of the catalogue.
In the catalog there are no numbers for the entries, so this will be a challenge. Bob knows most of the dogs, so that might work out. Rita is in a gold dress with a top. They are delaying so that they can put numbers in the judge's book. Rita does look great. I am one of the few people that knows her age. But, I am so old, I have forgotten.

Alex is over at the ready ring, so he must have just gotten here. The stands are starting to fill in, and in the amateur there are now a couple of dogs in the ring. They are having trouble getting it organized. This is the second time they haven't had numbers for the entries. I think they are ready now, so here we go.

Just one in there. A young woman, and I have no idea who it is. The dog is wired and Rita is waiting to see what he does. Now Bob is in the ring for bitches. One in the ring. Now the winners with Bob to pick. Only two were shown. Everyone is upset because there are no numbers in the catalog, so we don't know who it is. OK, the winners are picked. We have no idea who they are, but it is two lovely women.

The Guz is here and saying hello to Bob. Now on to the amateur Maturity. It is between Val Manning and Jamie Vanderkoi. Remember, I do not vouch for spelling. I think they are feeling the burn about now. Bob keeps them moving and gives Best to Val, and they are both winners. That is a regular ribbon and Summer says she wants one like that. Bob is filming right in front of us. The Bobs are right in front of me talking now.

I understand that we won't get done with this for another hour. While I appreciate that people enjoy the win, it is a lot of time for just this. Bart is here now, and working the crowd. I see Gary Szymzyk talking to Danny Dwier.

Big sign that says Don & Ingred We miss you Go Trouper. Don Smith had double knee surgery and we all miss him. Paula. Nothing to say about her, just want her to have to search the Blog.

Amateur Maturity Dogs in the ring. Two in the ring. I miss the Tanks, it isn't the same without them. Leslie is here talking to Summer, and promises to give her hints. Art Sinclair just got here and is dressed to win. I se Tedi is talking to Ann Schultz. I see Jimmie too.

Tony is helping me with numbers and in the ring are two people I don't know. Sherell is here with a dog. I see Bill Basu is here too. The winner is Leibchen's Eine Kleine Nacht Musik. Thank you Tony. They are both breathing hard, and there they go, last time, I think. And yest, the male wins and second if the female. Kathy Estrada wins. Kris Frasano is here now, with another good looking bitch. I can't name the winner's since they had no numbers and I can't tell who they are. Not my fault.

Tony came by to tell me the winner's dog was Liebchien's Clair D Lune and the Bitch is Norhause DCT Floating ON Air Trebe Nobe. Now to Best and Best Opposite. Bob says, "take them around together." The judge is right in front of me and he picks the Bitch. Pam O'Delll is here and has a great necklace. She is taking ballroom and Latin dancing. How cool is that?

Reflections

The first day went well. Karen did a good job, got the best dogs up, and the mood at the ring was up-beat. The location is as good as it can get. Everyone at the hotel is helpful and the arena staff seem to want to do whatever it takes.

I did think the snack bar at the arena leaves a bit to be desired. I saw Bug getting a hot dog and waited to see if it was any good. He took one bite and threw it away. But the hotel is a short walk and they have a number of places to eat.

We wanted to find out about Topeka, so we ate lunch at a Pizza Hut and for dinner went to Outback. It seems just as if we were home.

I joined Summer in the pool and then the weight room. I saw Ed for just a minute, Jack and MaryLou Newton got in and Bob (The Voice of The National) was in the bar last night, so it will be a full house at the table. I guess Michel will be in this afternoon, he had some commitments. I did talk to Georgie a bit yesterday and there are a number of people that came in last night that will be at the ring.

Tedi and I won't be in our assigned seats at all. They are at the very top of the arena, and that wasn't a good plan. But, the rooms are as good as they could get, we got done about 4 yesterday and Kirk is laying next to me on the bed.

So far, life is good and today is another day.

Last Chance from the arena

15 in the ring, so 13 specials. I will save my energy to tell you about the show tomorrow, but this is an impressive group of champions.

In front is High Voltage, then Horse With No Name, Solitaire In Black Jack with Marie Oster, In thyme, Akaya, then Mojito, and Dirty Look, All About Me, Galaxy, Gideaon, Heart of Gold, Hitman and Eddison. Then Winner's Dog and Winners bitch. Summer went over and marked them in from the ready ring, and so now I know who is there. Summer said she missed one, and so I might be off, but at least you know who is here.

Karen takes a group of five and takes them one at a time. Now a eal crowd favorite in there. She sets them aside and brings out another five, Scottie, and JR are in the group, but Karen wants them slow.

HI EVERYONE!! THIS IS SUMMER TAKING OVER FOR EVAN AS HE IS ON A 'COFFEE BREAK'. KANSAS SO FAR HAS BEEN REALLY FUN. THE PEOPLE HERE ARE QUITE HOSPITABLE AND THE DOGS ARE BEAUTIFUL. I ALREADY SHOWED KIRK ,WE TOOK THIRD BUT WE HAD A BALL! LITERALLY A SOCCER BALL IN THE RING! WELL EVANS BACK.

I am back and they are doing the second group. I was in the John, Summer was being polite. The lights have been off in there all day. I saw someone cleaning the johns so I asked if he could turn on the lights. He actually said to me, "It's not my yab". I don't know why kids have to yell all the time.

They are in the last group, and I hear Tori Glen is coming to join us in shepherds so let's watch for her. She is in Mobile and will be with us one day.

She is taking the last group and now Winner's Dog and Bitch. And Kent and Elizabeth have them. Frank gave the Winner's Bitch to Elizabeth. I guess from what I was told that was the deal if she won. Very cool of Frank, (thanks for the sod) Fasano.

Karen has them walk and it is interesting to see them walk against the white curtain. I like a curtain better than a paper side, but it is expensive. Karen calls out her winners. And High Voltage in front In Tyme, the Solidare in Black Jack fourth is Hit Man, (maybe in fifth), then Galaxy. She pulls a couple more and then looks at Winner's Bitch and Winner's Dog.

She has nine champions here, and the Winner's Dog and Winner's bitch. She wants to see Winner's Dog down and back and Kent takes the whole ring. Now the Bitch and the crowd is behind her. Karen walks the ring and looks serious and now she says to take them easy and around. There the first two go together. Genereau and Liz. Now Liz and Scottie. Next two more with JR and Hitman. Two more with Lenny in back of the two and a third with Jeff.

Now Winner's Dog and Bitch together. I love both of them. Even if the dog beat Kirk. She pulls a couple and lets some go, and then there were four with the winners to make is six.

She hasn't arranged any , but cut them down, and pulls Ken to the front with Winner's Dog and in second is the all black. And there they go. Karen does it, and gives it to the Winner's Dog, (best of Winner's), and Best Opposite Sex is Dirty Look with some Grand Champion Points to others. The Grand Champion points go to High Voltage, Solitare in Black Jack, Gidean, Shebearezade.

Winner's Bitch

Here they come, pretty ladies all in a row. I see four and they are all here. First is Mike with Lynda, Channing with Fantasia, Then Zelda, and last is Zak with number four is Shebearezade five Serendipity. I am so confused. Mike is in there because he was late getting back from Paige, and also they moved a bitch up from American Bred, so there are five. Tony tried to help me, so did Summer. It didn't help.

Celeste and Pat are still grinning. Karen is checking temperament, and there are five good looking bitches . Dawn is working the crowd and I guess not handling today. I see Dawn's bitch is in there and she is nice too.

I miss Barbara Amidon, and know she is not coming. Also Helen Fisher is going to be missed by a lot of us. There are some people that just should always be at the National. I don't see Tammie Howard either, and I think she stayed home. I did see Ann Schultz, and so that is a good thing.

I won't talk about Paula, but I wanted her search engine to have to find this post.

There they go with Mike in front. That is a special bitch and I doubt anything in here will beat her. Frank's bitch is going to be tough and is now in second. I think Karen will have a problem between those two, and she wants them down and back. Tracy is hiding behind the curtain. She puts the other bitch in front, Frank's and seh puts her in front of Mike. She is going to be tough for the Drapers bitch. And there they go.

She moves Channing in second. Ms Leas is in front and now she shines and yes, that is good for Drapers. Thanks to the sod, (Frank) his bitch won the class. First is Shebearezade, then Fantasia, third is Lyna then Zeldo. I think Paige has a good chance.

On to Winner's Bitch. I am pulling for the Drapers, and Paige. I never claimed to be unbiased. All the bitch winner's are in there.

They are in reverse order, and ready to go as soon as the pictures are done. Celeste is standing with us, and nervous. She could finish Paige here today, move her up on Saturday. That is a bitch that should be in Specials. Let's see if Karen agrees with me.

Karen is looking them over and that is a great class of bitches. Karen walks the line and looks them over and stipes at 12-18 and then goes on to the end where the Open Bitch is. She looks them over and Frank's bitch is a pretty looking lady.

Karen says take them easy and off they go. Karen stand all the way over to the side in front of me, and the puppies are a bit crazy but there they go with the top quality of the day and Mike is doing a fantastic job, and Shebearezade. She moves Nancy in front, Then Kent, with Mike in third and Shebearezade in fourth. She takes the other four, that I doubt are in consideration.

She now takes the four that she likes best and I think the second two are her picks, but I might be wrong. There are five but the last two, Mike and Bear got into second and third. Kent is in front. There they go the three and Kent is in front.

Bear in front, then Mike, (Bear is Frank's bitch) and each is going in front one time, I think.

Now Bear takes off then Mike and Kent. The crowd is wild, but if Mike gets in front, NO, Frank's bitch wins it with Elizabeth.

OK, on for reserve. Disapointment at the table, but that's life at the dog shows. Now there they go and she points to Paige. So, all is not lost.

Next to last in the classes

Leanna New came by looking as good as ever. Now the strange class goes in. I guess it is a thrill for those in the ring, not so much for me, but fine for time ussage.

The only entry won.

Bred By is Joe Baccia with Taracottta a fantastic sable, and John Beyer and the bitch is American Idol. Joes does a nice job and it does seem like he should get older some day. I do love that sable. Now, that kept the crowd alive. Now John comes up and another nice sable bitch. Interesting class. WOW that too is a great bitch. This is not an easy class to judge.

They look very much alike and everyone is laughing and there they go. Either one in my mind. I would go with Joe, but they are both very very nice. Karen switches them and there they go. Kent walks by and I see Georgie and there they go and I see Lew is here. Karen went with the other one, OK.

George is talking to us. George came without his wife.

American Bred is in the ring with just four bitches. Celesete has Paige in the ring with Mickie, so let's see who wins. Kellie is in front with Queen of sheba then Greg with There We Gogh Again, the Jeff with Aramist Tanbark's Kia, and Paige. George is always fun to talk to.

Everyone is behind us chatting. They had to remind Tedi Paige is in the ring. Sharon is here in between pictures. Sam Israel is here and we need clean up in the ring. It has nothing to do with Sam. Dick Jones is going out in the ring to do the duty, so to speak. Channing Sheets is in front of us now. Karen still looks great. I don't know how people just these types of shows. I am tired just watching. Tiffany is here now, and pretending to talk to me. Actually she has a dog in there. It is easy to get around the ring.

I see Bill Tank is here and he is showing Patron. Now, that is one great dog now that he has matured.

We made too much noise but Paige is in front, and she outshines the rest of the class. YES she wins the class. That is a Select Quality bitch, second is Queen of Sheba, third was Kia, and last was There We Go.

Here we go for the Open Bitch class. I am jazzed by Paige.

More nonsense from the National show before the show

We are in 12-15. We went out to eat, I am underwhelmed with the food in the arena, and the hotel is too fancy for me. We found a Pizza Hut, and life is good.

6-9 was Windfall's Who says V Chabilis second was Im Too Sexy and third was The Best of Both Worlds.

In 9-12 bitches it was Devine's Love Bandit, Second Monarch's Keisha and third was Maquis' I Love A Rainy Night. Celeste Draper gave me the results. Someone stole my catalog, and there aren't any more. She is showing this afternoon so I don't know how long she will be there.

In front now is Nancy then Scottie and Christie with another handler whose name I can't see. The place is getting full now, I just talked to Ken Downing and Frank (Thanks For The Sod) it standing next to my table. I am below the seats and above the ring. Sort of a limo situation. I did talk to DD for a while. There they go, and only the four, and they are all nice looking bitches. There is a big difference in sizes. Paige is in American Bred for Celeste and Pat, and she might finish here. They are now calling for 15 to 18.

Nancy is first then Christie with Let The Good Time Roll, Thyme Out and then Scottie. I see Bob Eaton is talking to Dannie and Tedi just came by and I see Sally is doing a good business. Here we go with another class. I am ready to call it a day and move on to the National. Diane Brown is walking in front of us, and Frank Martello thinks Kirk is great, and he is right. I did speak to Carolyn for a while.

The crowd might agree with me. Ben came by and I see a lot of people walking by. Now three in the 15-18 ring and Kelly is in front, then Greg and finally Jeff. I don't like what they did for handy-capped. They said the reserved handycapp can take the elevator to the top rows and sit there. Twyla got all our seats so Tedi, Jacqeline Summer and I would sit in the nose bleed section. I will stay at the table. Kelly has Something Royal, then Greg with Almandene and Jeff who just went to the front is Billy Jean. And that's it.

On to Novice Bitches. It is 1:30, so I think it is going well as to time. It helps that the pictures are being taken just outside the ring so there is little waste of time. I guess a lot of people will be here tomorrow, and then it might be more exciting. Right now it is just silence most of the time.

Liz Osler walked by and I see Christie taking another entry. She seems to be in all the classes. Fred Migliore is at the end of the ring, but since he won't talk to me, I haven't talked to him for three years. I think that is sort of like a vacation. Bob Drescher isn't here and maybe he will be here tomorrow. Sally saved me shirts for all my office help, so eventually I will have to go pay for them. I am putting it off as long as I can.

Tedi and I are discussing what classes Kirk will be in for the rest of the week. We screwed up the Junior Handling, so we only have two more days to consider.

In the ring is Kent first, the Greg, Christie, and Kelly. Small classes first is Drama Queen, Greg has Ember, Christie has Izzy and Kelly has Nicbolla. I like Greg's orange shirt and white jacket. From the litter Ch Keylis Purple Rain to Spotlights Sarah Bernhart there seem to be two males entered and shown and three bitches entered. That is dedication. I proofed one of the entry forms. I didn't know how much entries cost. Who has all this money? Al Martin is walking about, and it looks like he isn't showing today. Zoe is here talking to us about finding food. She said Pam Stoessser ate at Shotskie's so maybe we can find it. I am no longer interested in the dog show, but there is enough people to keep it interesting. Paula is already bitching that I don't talk enough about her. I just sat with Harley for a while. A lot of people want to ask me why the Asgard car is here. I guess they don't know about the organ. Charlotte Funk is here talking about Bob and his problems with swallowing. The class is over.

Open is over. It was exciting and Summer did a great job. Kirk went third at the national and for the first time at a National it is a great win for both of them. First was Legasy with Kent, then Second was Angus Bull with Diane, then SUMMER WITH KIRK, and fourth Bonafide with Jeff. Now on for a lunch break, a chance for me to get my heart to calm down, and on for the rest of the show. Summer rules.

On to Novice Dog. Summer isn't nervous yet, but I know Jacqueline is. Summer is bugging me to drink water, and I guess that is her job. Kelly came by and is talking to Summer. Two in there and Kent and Christie in with only two dogs. Kelly is giving hints to Summer but it should be OK. Kent has Bill of Rights and Christie has Good Thyme Charlie. It is nice and quiet here and only the two dogs. Kent goes first and then Christy.

Now on to Amateur Owner Handler Dogs. Now that is strange. Maybe we should have an Amateur Owner Handler Jewish Irish Dogs. We need to find new classes. Patricia O'Callaghan and Holly Anne Leas. Two entered and two in the ring. Interesting dogs, and another chance for people toget into the ring. Kathy Potter is talking to Tedi and I do have hopes for her and her dog, and also Ellen's dog for GV. Karen is looking over the two dogs and tells them to walk along the side and the crowd applauds, and thats it, Holley won and Patricia went second.

On we go to Bred-By Exhibitor. It looks like one, and it is Rise From the Ashes. And he is a good one. I guess there isn't much to be said about the judging, but one, and it is done.

Now American Bred. I have to send Summer off to get her dog. I talked to Tedi who is with Kirk. As they said in Pretty Woman, "Big Mistake". I will be off line for a while if I want to preserve my marriage. There are two American Bred, Turmeric and Kenya. I will be off line.

Now we have a dog show

15-18 Dogs. Only three. I see JR, Mike and Jeff. Jeff has Top Gun, Mike has Jaxx and JR has Cjyucas. I only say what is in the catalog. I don't see the value of the divided class, but it does give us a larger winner's class. There goes Mike down and back again. I do like Mike's dog. JR has an all black. This is going to be a strange National as I will be watching Summer in the ring. And, I might have to double handle if Tedi is watching. I do like the Black too. Karen is watching and there they go again, now with Jeff in front and I think she is going with each in front. Mike's is the smoothest, but they are all good ones.

Kirk is being shown in this show, the Maturity and the regular National. I don't know what I will decide as to what shows, Tedi will tell me my decision when I make it up. Karen tells the crowd to relax and they laugh, when she puts Jeff in front, and there they go again. And YES tha's how they go, Jeff, Mike and JR.

12-15 Puppy Dogs

Now on to 12-15 Puppy dogs. I don't know about the split, but I see five in the ready ring. Seems strange to me. JR is here and so is Tiffany. I see Kent in front with Captain America, then Mike with Krug, then Lenny with One For The Money, then Christie with Happy Time then Nancy with Ya Think. Pam is giving me a shoulder rub. Sharon and Rodger came by and now it is filling up the ring.

I love walking a few steps to the arena. You can go through a tunnel, or walk just a few feet to the arena. Pam is talking to us. Pam was given a whistle by Jane to double with, but it had a mint caught in it. There are always problems at the national. Oak is coming by and said he has a puppy that got out and was running around the RV. Sharron came by to get a pen. I doubt that she will return it?

Karen is going down the line and they are set up and they all look good. She says go around together easy and there they go. I like what Kent has best, but there are some other good ones too. She moves Christie into second and there they go again. That is how they are, Kent, christie, Mike and Nancy.

9-12 Puppy dogs

Here we go, with 6-9 Puppy Dogs. I see Mikie is out there and I talked to Don Knight. I love his sables and I see Celeste is here now too, and Dave Rinke came by and stood in front of me, and he still was too tall to talk to. Generieu in front, then Mike and it might just be the two of them. Intense Desire is in front for now owned by Nadine Paquin, and the individuals and only two in the class. Tedi is getting Kirk ready. He will be in today and they are calling 9-12 puppy dogs. It is quiet in there and the reserved seats are behind me. A white drape on two sides and it gives a great view of the dogs. I don't see a problem with the long grass and of course we don't know who donated it, (Frank) and we don't know who to thank, (Frank) but whoever it was, (Frank) he did a great thing for us all.

Mike is in there with Knight's Gambit, owned by Don and Elizabeth Knight. I have seen this puppy before and he is a good one. Now much crowd reaction so far, he goes slow and the crowd does like this one. Bobby is here and wearing his shorts as usually and not filming yet, maybe he isn't doing this show. Jimmie came by and is watching the show and I love the way Don and Elizabeth's works. They stack and Karen takes them around with Mike in front, and the crowd likes that. Summer and Jacqeline are sitting with me, and that is how I would judge these two. But Karen likes it the other way, so that is how it is.

9-12 Puppy Dogs. I see Diane is going in, and it makes me feel good to see her back in there. Of course seeing her any time makes me feel good. I am sorry to see Charoltte Gilbert is not here and we all miss her. I know that there seems to be only three in this class but they seem to be the good ones. Generue came by and in they front is Kelly who liks the same she did 20 years ago, with Broken Arrow then next is Greg with Peyton and in third is Diane with Renegade.

Bob Grady just said hello to Summer and now the place is filling up. Tedi is off grooming Kirk. Diane looks like she is back and moving like she used to. I did see Sherrie Moses last night,a nd I love the dogs against the white drape. Trish came by and looks great. Diane in front and then Greg and Kelly. Summer likes them that way and I like all three of them. Summer is right, that is how it is.

4-6 puppy

The first puppy is in there with Scott. I like seeing a 4-6 month puppy and Scottie has him. His name is Branded Rose, and he actually takes the whole ring. The ring is National Light, about 3/4 of what we are used to at a National, but certainly enough. That puppy had a great front and wins it all with a number one. I guess they change so much that the other four are absent.

Now on to 4-6 bitches. In they come and now we have three, Kent in front with Jane Kerner's bitch, then Elizabeths, Oak at the end. Although they are all listed in the catalog as males, the last three shown are bitches. I guess since they are so young, and haven't gone through puberty, it doesn't matter at this time. Cindy Tellefson just came by. Cindy talked t me for a bit, and I do like the one Liz is showing and I talked to Jane Kerner for just a while. Jeff Mobeus is here too and stopped to shake my hand, but then moved on. Oak has his chamion pins on his lapel, I see six, and if you got it, flaunt it. Liz gets some applause, that is a nice pup. Now Oak, and his shows well too. Jane told me her bitch just went up in the rear, that is the problem with this age. The pups all love Karen, and Nancy McDonald just came by and is in handling clothes. I see Dave Rinke and Bob Eaton, and so far I haven'tt alked to them. Kathy Potter is here now, and peole are starting to come in. Oak has Borrkl Rose owned by Sherry S. McKinnon, I think. I love the way the puppies act, and the way they take the ring. I guess it is like your 50 year class reunion, the fat, old, bald and out of shape people don't come. These are great puppies. w well trained,

Here comes Summer and Jacquiline, and the crowd loves Oak's puppy too. Karen tells them to slow them down, (fat chance) and Peggy Kurtz came by the hug Tedi. There they go and Karen says "nice and slow and easy". They are going around and now Ken's looks great too and I think I would go with Liz, but no one asked me. They certainly take the whole ring, which is amazing, and Karen puts Oak up one and leaves Liz in front, and I would do it that way, but I guess they have to work another time and they are too young, but still willing and so are the puppies. Now Oak in front, and the crowd loves that it is Oak, Kent and Liz. And That't it, Rose in front, then Sweet Heart and third is Ellegant Elle. Now bitch and dog. It is Oak against Scottie. Oak in front and the pupy is still working and they both look good and Scottie got it. Oak is exhausted.

Here I am at the area. It has long green grass and looks great. Karen came by before judging and looks fantastic. She has a bling purple jacket. I walked on the sod, and it is solid, but needs to be mowed. I think it will work great.

At breakfast I saw Dean Wylie and Danny Dwier, who is in good condition, from what he said. Susie who is with the video company talked to me for a bit and I am at the same table. I saw Bob Grady stopped by for a while. Frank Fasano stopped by and I see that Sally is set up and gave Summer a hug this morning. Zoe sat with us and I see Dick Jones dressed for success. Pam Sosser came by for a while and is looking for the code to use the internet.

Tony is on the mike and I don't see Bob yet. But, Michel e-mailed me to make sure I saved him a place at the table, as he won't be here till Thursday. Rodger and Sharon are here for pictures and drove so it must have been along trip. Tedi just entered the arena, and no one applauded. I see they are about to start with 4-6 puppy dogs, and that should be interesting.

I got up early today and as always made it early to the ring. I saw Lenny at breakfast, and it is quiet in here and maybe 50 people or so. More to come.

Tuesday evening, and my arms are tired

I just flew into Kansas this afternoon. Boy are my arms tired.

Here we are in Topeka. There are so many people here it looks like a National. Oh, it is a National. The ring is the building next to the hotel, and the hotel is very fancy for me, a poor young black man from the city. Or is that Flower Boy?

I ran into Jimmie while checking in. We got to talk to Tish for a minute. JR and Twyla were on the plane with me, Tedi, Summer and Jacqeline. We partied out, saw Bob and Carole Moore, talked to Carole for a while. We sat at the hospitality with Tom and Viv and Celeste and Pat Draper. Pat and Celeste drove in, and they seemed a bit wound up. I said hello to Kennie Cunningham, and Greg Eshette. I saw Diane Brown who is back handling, and is that ever great news. Diana Newby is here, and I also talked for a minute to Zoe, and said hello to Al Martin. I did see a lot of other people too, but I will hold off for tomorrow.

Now to get a few hours of sleep and then we begin.

At the airport

Here we are. I am sitting with Summer and waiting for our airplane. Kirk is loaded. When we got here, everyone already knew his name. That was sort of cool. I don't see Twyla or JR and I know they are on the flight, but I am in the corner minding my own business.

I love to get to the arena and read the names of everyone who has a stall. Along with the Friday night free-for -all, that is my highlight of the national.

It will be fun to see it this year from the perspective of Summer, and watch what she thinks. I am asking everyone to come up and say hello. Then I will test her later and see who she can remember.

Nothing left but to pack

For the first time in years, I don't have to bet to get out of a trial, we have no litters being born, neither Tedi nor I are sick, our entry got entered, (well mostly), they haven't canceled the flight, our dog has not blown his coat, and we are tanned rested and ready to head to the national.

I can see that the weather is going to be great, we have the best of the best to judge, the location is comfortable, and the drive from Kansas City not that bad.

I was told I get to sit with Bob and Tony again, so the three amigos will be back. I can't imagine who could have more fun than we do. And, more importantly everyone leaves us alone. I think that might be some fear of what we might say if they do come around. Whatever the reason we have a great time together.

I am looking forward to seeing all my old friends, (and a few young ones) and to make some new ones too. I know I am watching the shows through the eyes of Summer and her family, her mom will be there this year with her. I didn't know you could see things so differently.

Be sure to say hello, and if we have not met, introduce yourself. If we have met, remind me who you are. I find more and more I forget what I was going to ...........

In the beginning

This is the "kick-off" for the 2011 Blog. If anyone does not know how to get the Blog, let Zoe know and she will give directions. The only thing I required when I started doing it about ten years ago, was that everyone had to be able to read it, not just the List. I think Zoe sets it up to go both to the blog and to the List. I will know in a minute. If you don't get this, just let me know.

It looks like it is going to be a great national. My personal poll here in Fullerton, California indicates everyone will be there. Tom and Vivian are planning to go, so are Barbara and Stacy. Summer and her mom are flying in with us, and Twyla and JR are going to be on the same flight.

I know this year is going to be the best National I have ever been to so far. I know that Paula and Harley are on the road and on the way to Michigan and then back to Kansas. The Sedgwicks are going to the National, and Tedi and I will be there, so long as the creek don't rise.

I am going to blog again, but I don't understand the need for it. We have streaming video with comments, and the ability to keep it and review it for a few weeks. Zoe has set up the Blog and Bill told me he would find me a chair and electricity so that I won't have to re-charge my laptop.

Tedi is packing already, it is a female thing. I will get up Tuesday morning, throw what I need in a bag and head to the airport. We will try to remember the dog this time. That too is a man thing.

Let me know if you are going to watch the blog, how much blasphamy you can tolerate, and if you are prepared for blonde jokes? It is all up to you.

I want everyone to come say hello. I am asking you to stop Summer to introduce yourself, it will be the first National of many for her. Her mother Jacquiline will be there too, so make sure they know how welcome they are.

There will be a link on the GSDCA web site that you will be able to click
on. There will be two options available to a subscriber. You can either
sign up to receive just the live video web streaming itself or the live
video webstreaming as well as the archived video webstreaming which will
be available each day after conclusion of judging and for two weeks after
the end of the show. There will be coverage of the classes in
conformation, obedience, agility and the agility invitational. The prices
to subscribe will be as follows:

There are larger ads that will be flipping on either side of the streaming broadcast available for $250. These ads will be shown on both the conformation screen and the performance screen, running constantly. Our contractor has a graphics person who will assist the advertiser in composing the ad.
There will be a streaming banner at the top of the broadcast that will allow an advertiser to post a one to two sentence ad, greeting, best wishes, plug for a club or show, etc. The cost is $50 with the exception of vendors paying for space at the showwho will be eligible for a $40 rate. These ads are available on eitherthe performance or the conformation screens. Advertisers wishing to be oboth screens will receive a 10% discount (e.g. $90 and $72 respectively for both screens).

This year we will have coverage of the conformation classes, obedience classes, agility classes and the agility invitational. In addition, we will be archiving each day along with the ads. The archived video will be available about 3 hours after the shows end and will continue to be available for two weeks after the show concludes.

This includes ads as well as the video. These ads are a lot of bang for your buck, reaching a domestic AND an international market. Everything must end

I am at the Salt Lake City airport and reflecting on another national.

I stopped by the Host Hotel to spend a few minutes at the board meeting only to find they went directly into a closed session. I expect with the election of the new board, this will happen less and less. After what is one of the most relaxed national in years, it is a shame to see the board excluding the membership again. I am going to assume they are doing the right thing.

Barbara did a great job of judging. I have seen good judging done in the past by Ed or Dave to mention a few, but hers was as good as I have ever seen. Although at times we could not see what she was doing the handlers could. What she did is when she had picked the keepers, she gestured to the handlers where she was splitting the group. Her back at that time was to the crowd, and in bitches we couldn't see that was what she was doing. In males it was more obvious, but other than that, she did a perfect job. Anyone might want to rearrange the first three or four, but only one person was next to the dogs, looking at them within a foot or so.

Bob did his usual good job. I don't think anyone noticed that last year when he did the Tuesday show, his Best Of Breed Dog went on to Grand Victor. This year, his Winner's Bitch went on to Grand Victrix. That says a lot about his ability to find the best of the best.

I always love to watch Jammie judge. She has so much fun doing it, and makes it look easy. There never is any question that she is going to do a perfect job, and I saw her do it again. Maybe her feet giving her a problem might have been reflected in her judging, but if so, she should always wear uncomfortable shoes.

Dan found the best dogs, from the start. His Winner's Dog was a real star and it shows by him going high Select. I always have believed that Dan knows what the best dog is, and he picks them quickly and it is clear why he did it.

Live every year, the National does have to end. This year seemed more relaxed than before and it felt like the Canadian National. It might be a smaller entry, but even with that, the Quality was satisfying in that it shows we are doing something right. Everyone should be commended who worked so hard for the membership to make it so.

I have to mention the help Zoe and Paula gave me. It is not easy, and would be impossible for me to do this Blog without help. The very best I ever had was Dania who never had to look in the catalog to tell me what dogs were being moved. But, I think she will never do it again, it is hard work. I have had Flower Boy do it, and he made it clear, he will never agree to announce to me. Cindy Davis helped one year, and that seemed to be enough. I doubt Paula will be there for me to find and ask again, and I doubt Zoe feels like doing it again. Michel is a great help as he prints out, prior to the show a list of the dogs and bitches in large type that I can read. We need to consider the age of our membership when we print the catalog and it is time to go to 12 point type.

Each year I have to find someone and tell them how much fun it is to sit with me and tell me what dog or bitch is being moved. I also may have to find a way to be higher than the floor so that I can see what is going on when the handlers get in front of me. At one point Michael Cheeks asked if I wanted him to move, and he was getting the attention of his champion. I told him what he was doing was more important. I would also prefer not to be so isolated, as I had to leave my table to talk to anyone.

All in all, it was another fun week with good people, great animals, and fantastic judging. I read the lineup for next year, and it is going to be the same, at least as far as judging.

I wonder if the video will encourage people to come to the Big Show, or if it will make it too easy to watch. I know LanaLee has some ideas to improve it. I hope she makes it known that it is available to people who might then join the club. But she sure works hard for us, and we need to thank her. She never needed me to man a camera, and has enough help.

For those few who have not heard, the slate next year will be Ed Barritt for Specials, Bob Kish for Dogs and Rita Sandell for bitches. While I am disappointed that Randy Chesnut didn't get in there, I hope he will run again next year.

The show before the show will be Karen Wagner.

I left the diner before the speeches, but I am sure there were many pithy things said and great wisdom given out. I just wish I had been able to stay, but I had so many things to do.

The last gasp

What a day and what a group of dogs. I am so excited for Twyla, she just wanted to do well, but number five. Tedi was going to ride up here with her and at the last minute had to cancel. Twyla drove by herself and what a trip.

Paula got sick of me yelling at her, "what is going on" and she took her dog and left. Zoe seemed to last better, but I am sure they are both mad at me now. It would not be the first time. I get to sit with Twyla while the dogs go around. Tedi called me to help me celebrate and got to talk to Twyla for a minute too.

They have to correct the Select Excellent, and Patron is one of them. So is Bronson but we know that from last year when he was Select. They are taking the tablecloth and starting to take down the ring, and we aren't done yet. We still need Best Of Bree, Best of Winner's and Best Opposite Sex.

Ginnie Altman was trying to tell me if the Bitch went Breed there is no Best of Winners. Dahhhh!. It is interesting here now, and there are the three. The Grand Victor, Rogue, then The Grand Victrix and Winner's Dog.

Best of Breed is Aquilla who was Winner's Bitch and is therefore Best of Winners and Best Opposite Sex is Rogue.

What a show. I am exhausted and I had fun. I made a lot of new enemies and may or may not go to the victory dinner.

Sheree Moses came by to talk, and they left Bronson with us, and I am going to try to steal him. She is being greeting everyone and they are setting down the show so I don't know how much longer I can hang around here. Bronson is a one strong dog and seems to even like me.

Select Dogs

I talked to Barbara and she is pleased, and so am I. I was able to talk to Jerry Graham for a while and he is having a good time. In come the boys. Donna came by to support me, I will have Zoe on one side and Paula on the other.

My god, look at those beautiful dogs. They just keep coming, one better than the other. Harley is sitting at my feet. Thirty four in there and what a lineup.

I can't believe the feeling in here now, tension, excitement, and hopes. Some to be made, some to be dashed. But Barbara is still sitting with her clip board and Karen goes out to check with Bob and compare notes. Harley is sitting under the table and taking a nap.

Nancy Harper is talking to Barbara and they are looking at notes. I can't wait for this to get going, and it is 1;30 and the hammer is about to fall.

Barbara is in the building and counting off her places. Nancy goes down the ring to divide the class and Barbara looks great. I got to talk to her for a few minutes and everyone agrees, she did a great job. Barbara is talking to her handlers mostly The Guz, and there might be 36 dogs in there. It is so full, it is hard to tell. The Guz is laughing, and out goes most of the dogs, I hope for not just the show, just for judging.

Eight is enough and so that is what there is there. Joanne, Ariel, Sergio, Gregg, The Guz, Jeff, Nancy Art, and Kent. How often do you hear, "and Kent"? Jimmie yells to someone to slow down. JR walked by talking to Paula who is two feet away.

First out is Joanne with Never Ending Story. She stacks him and that is a real male. The sound of one hand clapping.

Good Vibrations with Ariel. Kim Schooly came by and is looking for Erin. We are trying to start a rumor.

Sergio with Biscotti. Down and Back, but I won't say that to all of them, but it seems Barbara is consistant and does it a lot. Boy, is there no one behind me? It is silent and Sergio takes a lap.

Gregg with Machu Picchu. A large black and red male. Let's take a vote. How many want me to type Down and Back and around every time?

Next us is Brazos, who belongs to Michel, who moves away. He is a local dog to us in California, and a dark bi.

Jeff with Feature Presentation, one I think could be our Grand Victor. Jeff takes the dog all the way back and takes his pass.

Nancy takes out Free n Easy. Another all male dog. The quality is amazing, and I am sorry to keep saying that, but it is clear we are doing well with our breeding. Nancy says EASY and I think they have listened to Barbara.

Art Sinclair brings out Army Shoulder. He is a classy dog, and when he matures he is going toknock them dead. He just finished.

Kent brings out Eli. Clearly one of the top contenders. He is clean and Kent poses him. There he goes and the crowd goes wild.

Jeff goes to the front Feature Presentation, then Free and Easy, Esi and that is it for these dogs. Kent has Eli in third.

She says take them around once and Easy and they do as they are told. Feature Presentation is going to be the one to beat so far, and I doubt anyone can. But there are more dogs to come. She says she wants the first three, and she sets them all out with the rest as clump, (It's Barbara's word, not mine)

Holly with Cirkobrass, Trevor with Last Cowboy Song, Elizabeth with Zoomer, Eric with Bobbie Mcgee, JR with Hit Man, All About me Oak with Leonardo, Rogue with Mike, anjd Channing with Fraizer.

Again a big wall of silence. Holly now with a dog, and a good example of what a dog should be. All the usual stuff.

Zach with Cowboy. I have always liked this dog, and I enjoyed watching him grow. He is a big handsome dog with lots of personality.

Elizabeth with Zoomer. Liz is turning into quite a beautiful lady, and she does a great job. I think she was a junior handler for about 30 years.

Eric brings out Bobby McGee. Very dark. What a contrast with the white wall.

Now JR goes out there with Hit Man, (Gavin). He will be the next to promote after Harley is retired. That should be in about ten years. He is a handsome dog.

It's All About Me. He is with Lenny. The girls say they call him Evan, since it is ALL ABOUT ME. Pretty color and nice size for a good looking dog.

Oak with Leonardo. It is good to see Oak out there with his own dog. It is good to see that old isn't a disqualifying fault for a handler. Barbara tells him to take him around again.

Now Rogue with Mike. What a picture that makes. He is a big black and red, and I love him standing. There he goes and he is next to me, about two feet away, and against the wall he is something to watch.

Channing is the last one with Frazier. We are waiting for the Big Cut.

Barbara walks the line and she goes to the end, and tells them to take another pass. She stands and watches them go by and now turns to looks at them against the white wall and has them stop. She looks and moves moves It's All About Me, Rogue, Hit Man, and Last Cowboy song, and divided it that way with the rest as the Bump group.

Liz with Horse With No Name, Leslie with Hot Tamale, Art with Special Forces, Bill with Ace of Spades, Cindy with Monte Carlo, Alex with Dexter, Ken with Levi, George with First Night, Julie with Chicago.

Dexter is another going to be hard to beat.

Now we start the individuals. First is Liz with Horse With No Name. A very dark Black and Tan. The crowd is quiet again, and maybe I will take a nap. Leslie brings out Hot Tamale. He is Susie Witmer's dog and I do like the looks of him. I love the arching neck and he can move. Art comes out with Special Forces. Down and Back. Bill comes out with Ace of Spades. I see Carolyn working for the Big Black Dog, and he will be a keeper if he works as I know he can. What an outline and that is great pigment. I am running out of stuff to say. Bill is laughing. They are all learning to go back and take a whole ring.

Cindy with Monte Carlo. A real showy dog and a dark black and red. Tedi just called since she was worried with JR on Patron since he was on another dog. A lot of handlers have two dogs.

Dexter is there with Alex. That is one hell of an impressive dog. What bone and body. I haven't seen him before, but I am now a fan. What power. I am convinced.

Ken, the new judge with Levi. His own dog and very deep bi/black and tan. My girls disagree.

George goes out for his turn with First Night. Everyone stands and they all do. I guess by the time they get to here, they have been tested by fire in a few shows. This is a great picture of what a shepherd should look like.

Julie with a black, Chicago. Two blacks in this group. This one is nice.

That's it and Barbara goes over through the class and she moves Bill with Ace Of Spades in front, Dexter in second, First Night and Levi, and the other Black Chicago and takes them around like that. She tells them to please slow it down.

Not much crowd support for that pick. And she moves Dexter up front, and George into secon and Levi into third and she looks them over and Dexter is a standout in there and she walks down the line and say to the last four, they are to stand out and she says something to them and they leave.

I DIDN'T WIN THE RAFFLE, SO I MIGHT AS WELL GO HOME.

New group with some dreams left. In front Kelly with Midnight Harley, Christy I'm All That Matters, Sean with Mojito, JR with Patron, Jimmie with Bronson, Jimmie with Bronson, Sulvain with High Voltage, Bill with Any Sunday, Laurie with Winter's Night, and Tish with League of His Own, the winner's dog. The order is wrong since I have violated my simple rule of listening to women. Blame Zoe for this.

Christy with All That Matters. I will get the order right and stop depending on Zoe. Do you understand why no one does this for me twice?

Sean with Mojito. A very good looking dog, and he is taking the whole ring.

Now Patron. I know Twyla is a wreck, but JR brings him out to Barbara. He is posed to show what a shepherd should look like. And Barbara goes over him and raises her hands, and give information to JR. JR goes to the end and the crowd likes him. He is on too tight a lead.

Bronson with Jimie. At six and a half he looks like a real dog. He is mature and I think he might be a contender. That could be your Grand Victor. It depends on how they work.

Sylvain with High Voltage. A real mover.

Andy Sunday, a move-up with Bill Tank. This is a bi, close to a black. He was in a pet home and came out to finish in but a few shows after two years.

The veteran, a dog that shows great breeding by some of the top breeders in the country. Laurie has him and his name is Winter Nights, he is an Asgard dog, known as Gus. This is the winners of the veteran class and his owner Lori Stewart is still smiling for that win.

Winner's dog League Of His Own, with Trish. Roxanne is his co-owner and is in front of us now. He should go Select.

Here we go, Barbara walks down the line, and looks at heads and touches each dog,and she might be testing temperament, but she idd so already and there she is at the end and now walks back towards the front and she takes them around. She asks if they want to move them, and no one says not. Barbara still looks fresh, but she told me her knees were a problem. You wouldn't know it from watching her.

Bronson goes up front, then the Winner's Dog League of HisOwn, she seems to have a prblem finding any more and I don't think she likes the rest so she takes the last seven and looks again, and nothing going on there. She pulls out Patron, YES! The rest go to the old home for the National. Twyla must be exhausted. JR let his lead down and he no long had any problems with is back. On a tight lead, it didn't look good.

Some milling, some talking and Barbara is sitting talking to the ring stewards. She is taking a break, and I too could use some time. My keys are starting to smoke.

Here come the bumpers. Joanne, Ariel, Sergio, Gregg, The Guz, Amy, Holly, Elizabeth, Eric, Oak, Channing, Liz, Leslie, Art, Cindy, Kelly Sean, Laura, Sylvain, Bill, Christy, and there are your bumpers. It will be dashed hopes for them, perhaps all of them in a few minutes but fo rnow they have hopes of going Grand Victor. 21 from the best of the rest. Barbara divides them into a group of either and there they go, each handler trying to do the best And each owner still with dreams, and hopes alive for a minute. Barbara calls out Machu Picchu from that group, and looks at them again, and they stand and stack she pulls Bobbie McGee and the rest get to go home.

Now the next eleven. Channing, Lix, Leslie, Art, cindy, Kelly, Sean, Sylvan, Christy, bill and Laura. Some hope left, but now much. ALL I WANT IS TO MAKE THE FIRST CUT.

I have heard that somewhere. What a fantastic job Barbara is doing. Up goes Midnight Harley, and nothing else.

Sixteen should be left, and I think there is going to be one more cut. It is going to be tough, and I think it might be Bronson.

Feature Presentation,Eli, Free And Easy, Eli, All About Me, Rogue, Hit Man, Last Cowboy Song, Dexter, First Night, Levi, Ace of Spades, Chicago, Bronson, League of His Own, Patron, Machu Picchu, Bobbie McGee and Midnight Harley.

There are going to change and she walks down the row and there she goes looking them over. They are still in the order they were and Barbara has her hands behind her back. Michael Cheeks appologized for being in front of me. Bronson to third, behind Free And Easy. First Night to five in front of Rogue.

Barbara says this is not where they are being placed so don't get too excited. She says take them around one at a time. Free and Easy went to first. Eli goes to the front. This will stop your heart.

Rogue goes to second. She puts Dexter in third. She is looking over the class and they get to move again, and Barbara looks to have nine selects and takes the rest around. Julie is on the ground and we stop the show, it looks like a knee, and the dog is taken out. She is up and being carried out of the ring. Thank god for that. It does look like a knee.

On with the show, and Barbara goes to the front and I so hope Patron gets in there and he is third now, with Bronson in fourth. She looks close at Rogue, and he is a picture. They take her out in a chair.

Barbara keeps looking at Dexter and he is great to look at and she looks at Patron and Eli, and the rest and tells them she wants to see a pass. Still 18 and Barbara looks at the end and wants to see the last eight take the last pass. She is sure giving everyone a chance and a good look. She looks and then thanks them all, and the show is over for them. Now the nitty gritty.

Barbara looks them over and wants anotehr trip and there they go just the first two, and this is the BigTime and Kent and Mike doing the best they can. Rogue goes in front of Eli. Now she looks at the next four Bronson, Free and Easy. She moves up Free and Easy to fourth in front of Patron. Now the last five. She and she moves up Feather Presention.
She walks down the line and I suspect this is it. There they go and YES, that's it.

Select Bitches

I came down from On High where I was allowed to spend some time with Dave Rinke. We solved most of the problems of the club, and later we will work on the Middle East.

There are 35 bitches in the ring and Barbara is in the building. She is walking the ring looking over the entries and she is wearing black slacks with a white and black jacket. She does look good. I see Bob Grady has his traditional white suit on, and it is starting to get exciting in here.

I saw Helen Gleason today and she bragged on the temperament of Harley Davidson, I guess they used him for the education seminar. I don't know where they go this many handlers, and I am amazed that I can recognize most of them.

Under Barbara's jacket is a red blouse and she is resplendent in red white and black. A real fashion statement. It looks like there are only three absent, how cool is that? Barbara is starting to send bitches out of the ring, I assume not permanently. She is walking over to the table.

She kept in the ring eight, and what a line up. Lots of pigment and JR in front, then Art, Mike, The Guz, Bill Tank, Kent, Elizabeth Lenny and Oster the junior. I don't know Liz's daughters last name, but she is a good handler and runs just like Liz. Don't depend on me to know the names and also I am nervous about the show. It is as good a group as ever.

Canter with JR. And right away, Barbara tells them to slow down, and it isn't going to be a race. I see Pat Ayres here and he stands next to us.

Art has Xenia a good looking sable, and down and back and Barbara has her stacked, and she poses like a pro. Bobbie brought some gold pain to put a spot in the center of the ring, and when he does you can smell it all through the arena. I asked if he brought me a paper bag so I could sniff it, but he said no.

Mikey has Sienna. He mises the spot but stacks her anyway, and Barbara does her thing, and another trip for another bitch.

The Guz now takes center stage with Ticklme-elmo. Teri Miles and Jesse Green, and Teri is in front of me. She is doing so much better in health and I am so pleased to see that. I can't get used to Jerry with the gray, and he primps with his brush, and off he goes.

Bill Tank with N'EJM Encore. I see Bob Funk helping double her and I have watched her for years now.

Kent brings out Madeira and Sherri is here to double handle and confirmed for Zoe who she is. I do love that look and Kent looks happy and there they go. That is way more style than I am used to. I think that may be a keeper.

Elizabeth comes in with Ubetcha, and she is looking for someone outside the ring, but stands for the individual just fine. Karen Taylor is here she must have something coming up.

Joanne Conboy has a good looking son standing next to me and wanted me to say hello to his mom. So, I do as I am told.

Frank Fasano just came by running because Lenny is in the ring with Remembears. Frank and Kris have developed such a type and so much style. The crowd loves that bitch.

That's a keeper and Lenny moves up to second behind Mike with Sienna. And Lenny is in third with Remembears.

Leanna New's daughter comes out with Blonde Bombshell. What a great handler and what a good looking bitch for an almost black sable.

Barbara tell The Gux to move into third and Kent to Fourth. She says to take them again, but take them slow, and off they go. Barbara stops them all and looks over the group and she walks towards them and tells something to Bill Tank and stands next to him and wants to see his bitch down and back. He does as he is told. Barbara leaves her where he is.

Barbara says make a very small ring, cut it in half and then stand off with them. They take them and they bunch up, and hug the white wall and then pose againa dn she moves Blond Bombshell into fifth.

Now out comes the new group. Bob (The Voice Of The National) comes to sit with me and already gets a phone call. He is relaxing and has to do Juniors later.

Barbara has a new lineup Joanne with Zyeata, then Bill Basu with Blackberry, then Laurie with Happysaysitall, then Liz with Kellie Sharlanna Limerick, Abby with Lookaliker (select last year), Art with Kiwi, and they are all mixed up now so I don't know the order.

Joanne took a lap, and now Bill has Blacberry. And I see Tom with his bells. She just finished and is an all black as the name indicates.

Laura has Happysaysitall and is going to be popular. She was a high select last year. Barbara says, "cut the ring". She doesn't do it.

Kelly has 2muchbling. Another pass.

Liz takes Kellie around and she looks good too. That is not going to be an easy job for Barbara I think she moved her in front.

Now Scotty has Lolitta and you have to see Lauren's pink jacket. I would wear that. She is being doubled by Joey so he must have something to do with her, and Scottie takes her around. She puts her in second. Even I saw that direction.

Now Sharlonna brings out Limerick. That is Dave Coleman's bitch. We competed in most shows for Best Puppy with Jill who is now owned by Jackie and Tom Pillipont and they will bring her out to finish next year. I do love this bitch and Sharlonna takes her slow.

Lookaliker with Aby and a nice dark sable. I do love that color. What a great bling jacket. She stands like arock and it is very quiet in the room, and Pat Ayres is talking to Bob Dresher next to me and I try to listen. The crowd likes this bitch.

They all want to get against the wall and Barbara moves Aby to third.

Now Art with Kiwi, a very dark dog, and she always has been a good one.

This is the last one and all the double handlers are in front of me and she moves er to third.

Barbara goes down the line looking at each one. And she says, take them with Liz in front, Scotti, Aby, Art, Jaoanne, and Bill, Laurei, Kelly and Sharlonna in back. And to the wall with them.

Now in comes the second group Sevine in front with a black, then George, Fire with a handler I don't know, Cindy, Nancy, Sean, Greg, and Sergio and Jeff, and that's the group.

Kent is here and talking to Zoe, we are trying to remember who the winner's bitch was. Jeff with The Shadow. (An all black, and that is not the name). Dirty Look is her name and she is a picture against the wall. I know Barbara does not like this big a ring.

George is out there now with Fresca. George is the only handler to go back to the beginning of the ring and take her all the way with a total loose lead and Barbara wants him to do it again, and George tells the double handler to shut up. Barbara tells him to slow down, and I think she likes her, and tells him to cut the ring in half. I like that bitch. No placing.

Hearts of Fire is out there with Trevor. I will go introduce myself, but I think I should let him finish his turn before I do. They call her Pepper. I know that since someone is standing in front of me calling her. I don't know why they call during the individuals, but Bob Moore is also giving directions. There she goes.

Cindy takes Akaya. She stacks and Barbara takes a look and checks teeth. She did on the others too, but I didn't think I need to mention it. Another trip around.

Nancy runs (first one to do that) to the middle with Sole Survivor. I have always liked Soki, she is a very dark black and tan, and can cover a lot of ground, and Nancy does as she is told and shortens the ring and she is put in first. It pay at times to follow directions. That is something Tedi has taught me.

Saleen is there with Sean now. Zoe is helping me with the names of the bitches and the crowd is behind this bitch. He goes to second.

Greg comes out with Deville. This is the next to the last one and she is moving right along. I think she knows what she is doing. Barbara says "easy" and he slows her down. That is a good one, but she doesn't do anything.

Sergio has the last in this group with Laila Ali. She does the teeth, as she is wont to do, and sends him/her around. They take a pass and the crowd is behind this bitch too, and I see why.

OK, I was wrong out comes Jeff with I Get Around. Barbara lets them hold the lead on the loose lead temperament test, but she can see easily who is sound. No problems except for one. Jeff takes his lap. Another crowd favorite. She moves up to second. Barbara looks them over and moves Sean to first on standing and she moves down the group and pufs out her cheeks and moves Sevin to second and she moves down the group and says move around the whole ring, easy, and there they go. She repeats EASY. Barbara looks good. She moves Trevor to third.

Out comes the fourth group. It is less than an hour and we are almost done with the groups.

Jimmie in front, with Katerina, (everyone knows I love that bitch), then Olivia Fire And Ice, then Doll House, Alex, then Art, Jodie, Christie, Ben and Leslie and out there is my favorite.

Jimmie showed her to me and I gave her a Best Of Breed. There she goes and she works well with Jimmie. Kent showed her to me.

Now it is Fire and Ice with Olyvia, I had to get it from Donna, Zoe was talking to someone else, and she is on probation for giving me names. She is too social and everyone wants to talk to her. Not so much me. Bob Moore is talking next to me and is waiting to double again.

Now Doll House, the Granger's bitch. I don't know her, but I do like the breeding. She is clean coming and going, and it is right in front of me.

Alex with a move-up and she stand well. It is Thin Mint. There she goes. Am I the only person who is bored? You don't have to answer that.

Art with Xanadu. A dark sable. Mike Cheeks is sitting with me and watching. Another run.

It is Serrendipy with Jodie. There she goes.

Pochahontas is out there with Christy, and Ray Johnson just came by for a minute. That's a nice bitch but Barbara isn't impressed.

Jenny From The Block with Ariel. She has always been a favorite of mine and I am also fond of her owners. She was also in Veterans too. So is the next one.

Now Magnolia with Ben. She was too wild in Veterans yesterday but they calmed her down and she stand for the individual. Ben makes Barbara laugh but I couldn't hear what he said. Barbara looks fresh out there and I doubt it is going to be a problem.

Leslie comes up with the Winner's Bitch Aquilla. She isn't finished by certainly has both majors. The crowd is behind her and she takes a like pass. That's the last one.

Barbara blows out her breath and stand and moves the winner's bitch to the front, and she walks down the line and takes Christie with Pochahonatas to third so it is Leslie, Jimmie and Christie. There they go. Barbara has not missed a thing and is as good as I have ever seen her, and they go to stand off again.

Now the real stuff. Barbara is in conference with her ring stewards, Karen and Bob and they seem to have it resolved and I heard Bob call the first group back. Zoe is starting to get sick of me yelling at her, and I wonder how Paul will hold up.

There they are, Mike, Lenny, The Guz, Kent, The Oster Child, JR, Channing, Bill and Elizabeth.

Karen comes out with the book to check. No cheating this year. That is a shame. It is always fun to trick the judge. Barbara returns and tells them something I can't hear an dthey do seem to listen and I do hear, "slow down" and off they go. Mike in front with Sienna. He does slow done, and Barbara yells at the top of her lungs, "SLOW DOWN". AND SHE MOVES Kent to second Lenny in front with Remembears.

Barbara says there are a lot of lovely bitchs and she has to nit pick but it doesn't mean they aren't great, and she says one at a time and a half a ring. Lenny says shhhh and Barbara says half a ring and he doesn't do it. But the crowd is behind him She sayd sto Ken, cut the ring. Now Midiera with him in second. He slows down. Mike with Sienna, and he slows down too. The Guz with Ticklemelmo. Not much going on there but she is so stylish and now the Osler girls and Barbara say cut it in half, and few of the handler listen to her. Now JR, Channing, Bill Tank, and Elizabeth. These at the end are probably going nowhere.

Barbara picked the best already and so these are just another chance to sparkle, not happening.

So it is Lenny, Kent, Mike and The Guz.

I am blocked by the double handlers and I don't think I can ask them to move. Barbara is looking at some back sand at the end of her line and she says OK, cut the ring, and this is going to be it. She says, "easy please, stop racing". And there they go.

Barbara sent them out and brings in the next group, and brings in the next group. Liz, Scottie, Abby,k Art, Joanne, Bill, Lorrie, Kelly and Sharlonna.

She says take them around again and off they go. First Kelli, Lolitta, Lookaliker, Kiwi, Zyeata, Blackberry, Happysaysitall, Too Much Bling and Limerick. They take a pass one at a time.

Barbara isn't placing anything yet, and so they stay in position and they have learned to slow down. Barbara looks them over and says to put them aside again. I am not sure she likes any of them.

Now in comes the third group.

Jeff, Nancy, Savain, Sean, George, Tevor, Cindy, Gregg and Sergio.

Barbara tells them to take them around. My fingers are tired. I Get Around, Sole Survivor, Dirty Look, Saleen, Fresca, Hearts of Fire, Akaya, Deville, Laila Ali,

They each go one time and Barbara has a look on her face that says she is underwhelmed. I think she was blown away by the first group. She moves over to watch one going away and nods her head. Now she is looking at each of them going away and again, blows out her breath, with her hands behind her back. Even the crowd is not impressed. Sort of a slow day right now.

No changes for the first time, ao it is not much to watch. She moved Fire in front of George into fifth, Best Of Dump.

Now the fourth class with Winner's Bitch in front Aquilly with Leslie. That is one good looking bitch and the dog looks good too. Don't tell Leslie I said that, but I like her pink jacket. And she takes them with Aquilla in front then Jimmie Katrina in second. There are three sisters in the Special Bitch Class Katrina and her two sisters. I think one is the bitch I put up when I gave Katrina her BOB.

She wants to look at Serindipity in Fourth, I don't have time to spell them, Barbara again tells them to cut the ring and there goes Leslie with the Winner's Bitch and the crowd loves that and now Katrina with Jimmie. Each one on their own.

IT IS UP TO ZOE, NATURE CALLS.

This group has winner's bitch, move ups and veterans. wow.
She just moved Pochahontas behind quilla. All else stays the same. Nobody has been cut yet.

I BACK. I KNOW HOW UPSET THAT MAKES YOU.

No cuts yet and in comes the next group with Kellie in front with Liz. Go back and look if you need more information. Scottie is in second with Lolita then Art with Kiwi and a bunch more that probably aren't going anywhere. Barbara goes over to the last five and talks to them and the first part of the class left. Everyone is laughting with Joanne in front, Bill, Laurie, Joanne and Sharlonna.. And there are some new people in front of them now none of us know what is going on. Barbara is talking now to the other group that seems to be standing in front of the end of the last group and she is saying something to JR, and he laughs, and I am sure they know what she is saying. There are 15 in there from different groups and I have no idea why. Barbara goes over to the table and brings in more bitches. She has an idea what she is doing, but we don't.

If I had to guess, and I am always right, I would think she is bringing in the end of each class and is having her "cut" bitches in the ring. Now 18 in there, and lots of double handlers in front of me, moving away and there goes the first eight Dreams are about to be brokena nd she tells them to stop. To the corner with them. But, they get to keep the bibs for a while.

Now another group, Mike Cheeks says this is the cut group and they are tying to get saved. I don' think there is much chance for them, Barbara is not impressed. She talks to them all, and off they go to get ready for Kansas. She knew what she was doing, it is just we didn't.

I have to say, when those were in and I watched them, I have to agree with her. Everyone got a good look, and now we find out who remains. I figure we have 20 left. I will
know in a minute. They would still be in the order she set them with Lennie in front. I guess I won't say much until something happens. They are lined up facing me, so all the double handlers are here.

I went over to count and I was close, 19. Some beautiful bitches in there and the first three aren't going to be the top three, but one of them probably will be our Grand Victrix. Remembear Me, Madiera, but now she start Aquilla went to third. Zoe is having trouble seeing and all I can see is the backs of people. I need to be up higher. Each takes a pass. Zoe is standing with a bad knee.

She moved Pocahontas to fourth. Katrina is in fifth right now. The crowd is alive and Barbara watches each of them. Lots of noise, and maybe for Males I will go up in the stands. I can't see anything. Sorry, but I hope you see it on the video.

Kelly, Aquilla, Remembear, Madiera, Encore, Pochantis, Katrina, Fire And Ice, Siena, Lolitta, Ticklemelmo, Kiwi, I Get Around.

She moves thenone at a time, and Aquilla moves in front. It is exciting and the crowd is going wild, and Barbara looks great,a nd she looks at her group for Madiera and she brings her to fourth, and MNJ Encore, Pochantas, Katrina, WOW, Fire and Ice, Sienna, Lolitta, (I don't think there are going to be any changes), and Ticklemelmo, Look Aliker, Kiwi, Get Around, Serendipity, Sole Surviver, Dirty Look, That's it, 17 in there.

Everyone has hopes and Barbara excuses only four and now there are 13. I think they might all go select, that is a fantastic goup and Barbara is up to the front and lots of people out of the race and she walks down the line with her hands behind her back.

ONE TIME AROUND, she says. The winner's Bitch in front Aquilla,a nd Barbara looks them over and the crowd is as loud as I have ever heard at a National, and they seem to bunch up at the end and Barbara walks down to the front and she moves Remembears and Madiera to fouth. Barbara goes don the line and talks to each handler. That is a pretty lineup and I would take any of them home.

Barbara looks strong and nods her head, and says to take them around again, and she is walking faster and puffing and she walks again and againand she watches them and YES that's it.

Musing from the top of the day

What a national this has been. The mood is upbeat each day, everyone is having a good time, or so it seems. A lot has to do with Bill Bergraff who is everywhere making sure everything goes smoothly.

The weather is perfect and the grounds are so convenient that you can go see whatever you want at any time. The prison next door sends over some of the short timers to clean the arena each day and to continue to pick up trash. They wear green t-shirts identifying them as prisoners. I won't name names, but someone bought a green t-shirt from one of the prisoners. I can't say who it was because Kim Schooly's husband has to get out of town before the warden finds out.

Last night I saw some dogs that are going to be sensational today in the ring. And, I talked to Barbara about what she wants to see, and even who she expects to see. She is ready and able to do a great job for us, and I anticipate just that.

There are so many that are not here, that I miss, Diane Brown, Tom and Vivian, Fran Ford, The Grangers, Randy Chestnut, Jane Kerner, Jack Newton, Pam Stoesser, Tedi, (of course), and too many others that I enjoy seeing each year. I do wonder if the video will discourage attendance in the future? I hope not, because the mood,the atmosphere, the general feelings are something that can't be felt without being here.

The morning is still dark, but the air is chilly, clear and filled with promise. For the first time ever I took some time this morning to read my Blog. I too enjoyed it, and that surprised me.

It is time to get ready to rumble, and I might take a train, I might take a plane, but if I have to walk, I'll be there just the same. Kansas City, here I come. And I still am an hour from the Big Show.

I was part of the open ring tonight. I saw dogs that made my heart beat harder. Eli,Dexter, Diesel, and those are but three. I did see Rogue, and he too is something else. After a week of class animals, to get down with those magnificent animals is a real treat.

I am so ready for tomorrow, and I know the quality is going to astound everyone who gets a chance to see it.

I had another fun dinner with friends, enjoyed some good judging in both sexes, talked to a lot of people I missed the past years, and am going to get some rest and get ready for tomorrow. If you can't be there it is a shame, but there is next year. After what is going to go into the ring tomorrow, I doubt anyone will want to miss Kansas.

The tail end, and the extras

I took a break and it is hot outside. I am back for the extra stuff, but I know some are into it, so since I too am a veteran, I will report on that too. I understand they will be video of the stampede after the show, so stick around. Norma is talking to Barbara, and so I have to move over.

We are ready and there goes the Veteran Dogs. First in the ring is Cindy with Winter Nights, The JR with Jag, Kent with Bad Boy and Sharlonna with Dream Boat. What memories they provide. Winter Nights is out of our Tequella bitch, and a special in my heart.

Only four, and there they go, not looking old at all. Winter nights goes out there and looks so happy to be there. He knows how to stack, but I guess by now, he should. I know Laurie loves the hell out of him and I watched him from a puppy. His call name is Gus, and he always remembers me. Tedi would love to see him, and I know he is on the video so she can enjoy him but in person he looks great.

Now JR has Jag who is owned out our way by Joe Mazel. I have watched him for years too. I don't know where the years have gone, and it seems just a year or so ago they were being shown. Sharlonna went out of order, and Kent is still looking to see what happened. She has Dream Boat, another California local dog. He always has been a handsome sable dog, and looks like a youngster.

Kent is very patient to let her go, and stands with Bad Boy. He also looks good, almost nine, (February). That is a picture posed and I would go with him.

Winter Nights is in great condition. Dan has them take a lap. It is interesting that they have had an open ring all week, no breaks for the youngsters or the oldsters. Even at Denny's they have a senior menue.

Bad Boy goes around last and now Sharlonna. I think he took two together then one and one. Strange but it seems to be what the handlers are doing.

He puts Gus in front, then Bad Boy and walks down the line to look at heads. Gus has a great head and is so alert, and Sheryll is doing a great job to keep him up. There they go with Gus leading YES it's GUS, BAD BOY, JAG AND DREAM BOAT.

That is great for Lorrie who owns the dog is such a great lady, and we were so proud of what she did with our little puppy.

No older Veteran Dogs, so we go directly to 7-9 Veteran Bitches. There are some bitches in there that peak my interest, one is Dixie Chick, a bitch I have always loved.

There is a delay and I got to talk to Terri Miles Green for a minute and she is looking great.There goes Caisson Pax, then Dixie Chick, Exodia, Legally Blond, Spider Woman, Tanqueray, Jenny From The Block an and Zoom Zoom.

I have always loved Dixie Chick, but there are some great bitches out there. What a great looking group of older ladies.

Bob takes them around and that brings tears to my eyes. He stands back and wants them to take another pass. In front is Liz's daughter who runs just like Liz. Pax looks great with her.

There she goes and Laurie is on the phone with Tedi for her big win. Evidently Tedi missed it, but Laurie is excited enough for all three of us. I am still grinning.

Now Dixie Chick and Alex has her. Exodia is out there with Eric. A dark bi or maybe not. Legallly Blond with an equally blond handler. Channing is out there with Spider Woman. Jenny From The Block with Sharlonna, and she is in good shape, the bitch and Sharlonna.

I told Barbara I miss Susan, her daughter. Jenny From The Block is there with Cindy. Zoom Zoom with Kelly. Leslie came by to talk to Barbara. There they go, and a good group, not that many that look old.

Bob watches them and eight in there moving like they think they are in the puppy class. Of course, so do I. Think, that is. Another temperament test on one bitch and Jenny From the Block in first then Zoom Zoom then Legally Blond, then Tanqueray. Good group and good choice. He calls it that way. JENNY FROM THE BLOCK, ZOOM ZOOM, LEGALLY BLOND, TANGUERY.

9 and older, last chance for Dan, then Barbara takes over.

First is Ch Da-Lyn's Hylock Joy Stuttgart, the Ch Magnolia, and then Ch Happyanunoit,. Every one of them is a super star, and always was, and I don't know how many Select Bwo Time Select AOE Magnolia. I have watched her from her puppy class, and it is strange to see her at this age, looking like she always was. Now there is a crowd pleaser. Listening to The Guz and Barbara is a real trip.

Maggie in front then Happy and they are two. That's it, STEEL MAGNOLIA, HAPPY AND JOY.

On to Best Puppy

Barbara has entered the ring. She picks the raffle ticket and we have a winner for $735.00. Barbara looks great but hasn't lost a step. We enjoyed talking and she is always good for a joke or a laugh. She does at time take me too seriously, but lots of people do that.

In come the puppy winners. I did like the bitches more than the males, but so far, no one has asked me, so I guess it is up to Barbara. She is also going to do the Best Bred By. Iza won the raffle, and just in time to pay for drinks for everyone.

Only four in there, go figure. Not much interest here, but it is early. I have no plans for after the show, so let's drag it out. They all went around, and now it is all up to Barbara. I think she has made up her mind, but the looks them over again and wants some more side gait. There they go. Best Puppy is SHARO'S PHOENIX RISING V DELRAY WOLFCREEK Best Opposite is MARINER'S SMOOTH AS SILK.

Best Opposite Sex is a New York dog and his call name is Rizer, not with a "s". That is important to Linda, so it is important to me.

All that is left is Best Bred By. Then the Big Rumble In The Middle free for all. I always felt the Friday evening in the ring with everyone running with no grooming and no judge. It gives everyone a chance to see what is real, with no pressure on anyone.

Barbara said to say hello to Joan Huber, and so I do what I am told. We both wish she were here, but I know Barbara will do her great job as ususal.

Ray Johnson just handed me the 1953 National Specialty Show Catalog. I have to take some time to look at it. I wonder if I can find my picture in there. I was three at the time. The Guz is hugging Barbara now and that is a picture.

It is fun to sit with Barb, everyone who is important is coming by to say hello.

I watched the Parade Of Greats, and it brought a few tears. I loved seeing Magnolia looking like a puppy, and also of course Black Orchid with hair. Even looking better.

They are up to Winners, so I am going to get Paula to help me post what is going on. Everyone is waiting and they are bringing in the males. Dan Dwier is here talking to Barbara, and I am trying to listen to learn something new. Hunter brought Ken Tank by to look at the 1953 catalog.
Everyone is waiting and they are gathering, and Dan is at the ready ring.

They are in the ring, and stacked in the middle so we can see them all. That is a great lineup, and Barbara is telling me what she thinks, but now about the class.

Dan walks down the line with his hands in his pockets, They takie a pass with Nancy then Trish, Kent, Scottie Liz and George. Dan is taking them each down and back. Karen Taylor came by and it is fun listening to Barbara. He moved the 12- 19 Dennis the Menace. I can't see to where, and he is in second place behind the open dog. Barbara went out there to see and let me know. I have so much help with Paula and Barbara. Plus they make me look good sitting here.

The 6-9 puppy gets some applause. Dan pats Mike on the back. I think they like being there. A winner at the national. And there they go one at a time, Nancy with the Dog. Kent with Promise Keeper. Barbara is reading over my shoulder, and now Liz with the black dog Nigeria and Dan is looking at the all black and he leaves her there. Scott with Dennis the Menace. Dan looks over the class. Trish with Gideon, and she stays there and now Dan moves her to behind Kent. There goes the Bred By Dog Year Of the Gentleman. Dan ois looking them over and he moves Year of the Gentleman up two places and there goes Mike with Phoenix Rising. That's the lot of them.

They stack and Dan walks t the front, and walks down the line looking them over. There they go and the crowd likes the order with the Open Dog in front but Dan is looking them all over and he says to stop over here, and he grabs Year Of the Gentlemen into second and moves another and IT IS THE OPEN DOG, LASLER'S LEAGUE OF HIS OWN OF SOMERSET ROSE, winner's dog on Tuesday too, Roxanne Labra's first dog. She is crying and has hopes for tomorrow.

Now on to Reserve. The second Open Dog comes in and takes her place. Merlin comes in for Reserve with Lindsey. He looks the dog over well and goes to the front of the ring and calls them out and puts her in second. There they go with Year of The Gentleman in front. The crowd likes the 12 foot lead and Dan looks at them and takes a hard look at them all nd is looking at Ken and puts him in second with Promise Keeper and Denise The Menace in third and they stack and Dan looks them over from the other side and talks to them and walks between the dogs and down to the end of the line and says, take them around. There they go, and Dan turns and gives it to YEAR OF THE GENTLEMAN.

Open Bitches

Here come the girls, here come the girls. Hally is by helping me stay grounded. There goes Channing running by. The handlers are lined up and Bob is standing in the ring by himself. Jimmie came by and said good morning. I need to be nice to him now that he is on the board. And Bob is still standing alone.

Here they come, Karen Wagner is checking them in. Tom Mesdag came by to see me, and the bitches come by one at a time. I see he divides them into two groups. Six seems like a good number. I see Art, Scott, Jeff, and others, I can't see. The light is good, but maybe it is just me.

There they go as a group. Pat Ayres came by and gave me a pack of Mac-nut shortbread. Carolyn Martello is standing next to us,and I think she might have a bitch here. I see Julie Hamerasky is doubling and working harder than anyone else.

The people out side the ring are doing more work than those inside. Hally and Sharon Ivy are talking together. I love having all my friends at this table with me. They have so many things to say that I get to listen to. But, much of them are saying stuff I can't repeat.

Dave Coleman went by with Sharlonna, and in the ring is Tammy Sawatsky from Canada either she dropped the lead or it broke, but the dog went directly to the double handler. I don't think I have seen so much doubling going on, and so many temperament problem, for a National. Dave Lasater came by and he can't stop grinning.

Pat Ayes is here with us now, how much better can it get?

There goes Art with a crowd favorite Spirit. And Scottie is out there with a very good looking male. Bob does a real loose lead test. There is a paint spot in the middle of the ring, and they all have to stand and not pull away. Michel just got here and missed the whole Dog class. Boy the crowd likes Scottie with Lew Bunch's bitch Capri. She is something special.

Laurie Bellah is out there and she got a new hair cut. It is a good one. Also she has a handsome dog and he seems to ignore Bob. Another crowd favorite, Shake Rattle and Roll. Now Jeff with You Had Me At Wow. This is a Samurai daughter. We have a Samurai daughter at home with 14 points and both majors. The dam of Kirk. It is all about me.
Twyla checked with Liz to see that I was right. YES! She is a Samurai daughter. My day is complete.

Now Shak'n Not Str'd with Laura Bellah's son Lee. Laura looks too young and side by side they look the same age. That depresses me when I look in a mirror. Things are moving fast, and we are going to be done early with judging. Adele Hyson just asked for information about lunch, and I have no idea about anything. It is fun to tell people that, and see how disapointed they are to find out I know nothing about everything.

Still on the first group and Bob sends them over and brings out the rest, Bill Basu, George, Kent, Genereaux, the Mike and Liz Oster. Twyla just reminded me that I am older than her. Actually I am older than most, I am six days older than her. That is how exciting it has been so far. Richard Sottille just walked by and so did Donna. Bill Basu is there Maya. Teeth, tail and he is not testing testicles. Good move Bob.

I did see Jamie this morning and she looked cold, but it is starting to warm up now. Not so many double handlers right now. Both Bob and Dan had discouraged double handling on the individual. I think people want to make sure it doesn't appear to be a temperament problem.

George has Thriller and I like the look on her. She poses so perfectly and he sure can pose a bitch. Ray Johnson is talking to us and reminding Twyla how far back they go. Ray asked about Vivian, and we told him she is getting better.

Kent has Ariel and what a good looking bitch. Kent gives her the fulllead and she is very smooth, and should have gotten more applause.

Now an all black owned by Sandy Anderson. I see Lew Bunch talking to The Guz, and now Scottie joins them. The crowd likes the black bitch and she makes quite an outline against the white wall.

Mike is out there with Aquilla, another Aries offspring. Lots of that going around. Al Martin came by with an almost all black, and just a patch of white on the chest. Now Liz with Savanna, an Army daughter. I think she has been in the ring before, every step is a pose.

Bob has the six lined up and off they go, for a pass, and a last chance for this class at least. It hard to go any faster, but with the wall as it is, you can see them. And back to the wall they go, and out comes the first group. Bob tells them something and now comes out to work with his first six.

Now we are inundated with double handlers and I can't see much but off they go on a sprint. Everyone leaves lots of room so for six to make a pass is about 20 seconds. Some with a short lead, and some all the way out. Bob walks to them and moves Art in front with Spirit, then Scott with Capri, then Shake Rattle and Roll and You Had Me at Wow.

He brings out the second group, and I think he will be picking some and yes, he puts George in front of that group, Ariel and Aquila, and then there were seven and off they go, with Art in front, not in order still as they came in. I suspect those are the keepers.

They stop and Bob walks over to them with a look of concern on his face and tells them to stand off .

What a thrill. Barbara Amidon came by and is sitting with me. She looks fantastic and is going to do a great job, I just know. She is dressed all in black but I don't see a whip. She is being mobbed by everyone. The outfit is by Beyonce.

Back to the show. In front is You Had Me At Wow, then Ariel, Aquilla, and then Thriller. The crowd is loud more than any other time and Bob has his arms crossed, but he isn't done yet, and walks over to them and he says something to the last three to see who gets Best Of Dump. Four standing in front of me, and they are all stacking with Jeff still in front and Kent, then Mike and George, with bitches on the leads.

Bob stands in front of me and has them go down and back. Even Jimie is here to help Kent with his bitch. The crowd is tying to influence the judge with yells, I don't think Bob is impressed. Those sure are pretty bitches.

Bob tells them, one at a time. I am watching and listening to Barbara, and there they go. Lots of tension, more than the dogs, Jeff gives her a full 12 foot lead, now Kent, and he wants it, I can tell, and the crowd would give it to him. No changes.

Now there goes Mike and another crowd favorite, slower, and a real beauty. Bob watches her and moves her to first. It's Aqulla in ere ty go and YES, that's it.

Open Dogs

ok, it is time for a dog show. They are calling Open Dogs to the ring. Lots of people here, but no one but me at my table. It seems each day less people show up early. I just took time to talk to Dave Rinke.

Twyla and Bob (The Voice Of The National) are with me and we are laughing as we always did. Twyla and Bob go way back to when they lived in Penn.

The Open Dogs are int her now and Dan is doing the individuals and it looks like seven, so this won't take long. Bob Grady has a real purple suit today and there can be no doubt about the color. Paula came by and we are talking about what Bob did and I loved it, but feel bad about the owners. Mary Terrese is here and what a great smile.

Sheryll Brockett was playing with her toy and threw a ball into the ring. We gave her a good hand. With Bob and Twyla, I don't have time to type, and Paula is telling jokes. I was trying to remember the breeding of Magic Marker, and we asked Liz, she know all of that.

It is very quiet here now, and lots of people, but nothing going on. Dan is moving them and he puts up Nancy with League Of His Own, then Jeff with Merlin and Alice Cooper in third and Bon Jovi in fourth, and there go the first four with Nancy Jeff a name I don't know and Kent, and that looks like a good way to go. Paula is talking with Bob who went to go just the bitches.

Ann Schultz came by and we are all waiting for the free-for-all after the jduging. Dan does a test and another problem. Must be the age. They line up and he takes the last three to make sure he isn't missing anything. Dan walks back and he pulls up JR with Chad into fourth. He moves the last five aside and wants to look over the first two, and he tells them to take a pass, with Nancy in front doing a lot of directions to her doubler, and she is serious, then Jeff. And off the go.

Nancy has him on a loose lead and Jeff lets out 12 foot of lead and he tells them to stand back, and goes to the rest and says, "one time" and off they go, it's crunch time.

Nancy stacks her dog, and so does Jeff, and THATS IT!

Early in the morning

I am here an hour before the show starts and loving it.

There are maybe 12 people milling about, Bobbie is here with me early every morning to get his equiptment set up and so is LanaLee. They clean this place every nice and each morning it looks like new. There is a prison next door and the inmates are here all day. They wear green T-shirts so you can tell them from us free folks, and they say prisoner on the back. I asked if they could sell them, and they are going to check with the warden.

The big issue on the List seemed to be the Novice Bitch class. Sandy Anderson just came by and introduced me to Myra Johnson from North Carolina, and she is here at her first National. But, I digress. I was about ten feet from the judging when Bob did the Novice Bitch class. I talked to some of the owners, and others and everyone saw different things. But, only one person was next to the bitch and only one person got our votes to judge our National. That person made a decision and as he told me, it was not easy to do. But, I think whatever he did, he was honest about it, and so I give him a lot of credit. There are going to be times when you judge when you have to do something you know is going to cause a problem, but a great judge will do the right thing.

And, that's all I have to say about that.

I picked up Steve Barbash to ride over with me, he is also San-Wife. Dave Coleman is talking to me and he is having a good time. He is going over to Kevin's coach to see if he is open yet, and Kevin has great food in that trailor. I see Bill Leonard and he is sitting next to me now.

Last night I ate with Barbara and Stacy, and then we met Flower Boy and his group Collette and Ed Hill came by to talk and so we may talk a bit today. Judy Tiedel was with us and Tony is here and so is Kent.

We were talking about the video and I think it should be open to the public. There goes Sharon Ivy and so moe people coming in. Kent came up to talk to us and he is dressed to show and has a Harley Davidson jacket on. Everyone seems to be getting ready so I will climb down from the top bleachers and go get ready for another day of dog shows.

Early still in the room

Here it is Friday of what has become a long week. Lots of interesting stuff, new people and old friends. This is the end of the second part, and tomorrow is the Big Show. It will be a short day with nothing much after two classes of entries, and some presentations.

We have a new board and with these people some good strong minds that will find out why answers are hard to get, and turn this club into the right direction.

American Bred Bitches

Large Class.

Nancy has Dare to Dream, Lorry B has Merriment,The Guz has SolikeHappy, Jeff has Guinevere, and Art has wicked.

I was talking to Jimmie and we solved all the world's problems. Then I spent some time with Georgie, and Jerry Bobeck. There are 17 bitches in there and so far I like what I see. He moved them all and divided them into two groups. Scottie tried to move up but Bob was just telling them to go to the wall.

Now he has another four in there with Lenny in front Tish, and two others whose numbers I can't see. I miss the Browns, I hope Diane gets back here soon. Tony came by to give Zoe the move ups, and I don't know what I will do with the information but she does. Now Bob added two more to the group so there are six of them. I was always very good at math.

There they go led by Lenny and there are some good ones in there, but I can't see the numbers well enough to tell you who they are. I wonder if I am going blind, or just tired. Paula used my car to road work Harley, and I don't think he is being shown, but I see he is entered.

Lenny has a bi, and she looks good against the white wall. Kelly Salvala is at the end of the class and she is another who never gets older and always look good. Now we go to the individuals, and George is here with Nancy Harper, and she has a lei and I did talk to Pat Ayers for a minute and he too is here with sans-wife. I told him we should go out and I could watch him drink.

I see Dan talking to Kent and DD, and they seem intent on something. I did get to talk to Carmine for a while and I have never seen him in a hat before. I just spend half an hour with Carmine and he has lots of ideas for the club.

Bob is still doing the judging, that is why he gets the big bucks. Olivia is out there from the second group, and the crowd seems subdued. I think it is the last one in there sable with Sharlonna with Darlin. Ann Thompson talked to me for a bit, and I see a lot of double handlers.

Everyone seems to be waiting for the day to end, but maybe I am just projecting. It has been a long National with spurts of amazing quality. I got to hug Harley again, and Paula is taking him around so people can see him. They seem to like him and now the first group is back in there. So far none have been cut. Pam O'Dell walked by and stopped for a minute. I gave our cookies and candy to the crowd, I have had enough.

All seventeen are out there stacked and Bob takes The Guz to the front and then Art then Scottie and Lenny. He lets eight take the day off and there they are with Solikehappy in front. She won the Futurity and now leads this class and off they go.

At the end is Sharlonna and they all take a pass. Wicked is in second and I think they may be the winners. Bob lets a group out of the ring, so now only ten or twelve double handlers are standing in front of me. They are more important than me, so I won't complain.

Now there are ten left with Solikehappy in front, and the crowd seems to like her. The Guz cottie with does one hell of a job and Art is pushing her with Wicket and then Scottie with Then Came Me, but Bob just moved Scarlott up front then Bella, (Solikehappy). He is looking over the rest looking for a third and it is Torrid Affair, and he moves the rest up starting with Wicked. He did it with less than enthusium.

He tells them one time with Lenny leading and The Guz doing a great job and the crowd likes that dark bitch in front. He only takes the first five. Bob is walking towards them and sets them back. Bob calls them out to the center and we don't know what he is doing yet.

He is taking them coming and going so the crowd can see. First Scarlott. Now Solikehappy, and then the rest. Some applause, but not that much. Bob stares at Solikehappy and she is so pretty standing. The crowd is underwhelmed with most of these bitches.

Then Came Me is a big crowd favorite and she does look classy, a real quality sable. I think maybe people are looking for something to get excited about. Bob stands back to look at each of them. Zelda made the cut and just took the novice agility prefered title and she has her CD and her Rally Excellent title and now she is there in the final cut. And one good looking bitch in sixth.

Bob wants to look more at them and he scratches his ear and walks up to them and tells the fist two to stand back. The Guz makes a comment under his breath, which need not be repeated. It has been a long show. Bob took three, and now he is taking the last three. This is like a Specials judging.

There is no question, he has the best up front. Dawn's bitch moves up to third and I am jazzed, that is Zelda. THAT'S IT, Way to go Dawn with Zelda, number three with those two in front, what a bitch!

I got to talk to Kathleen Steen, and she is with Jimmie and The Guz right now. I talked to the camera people and said we need more closeup on movement, but it seems if you zoom in too fast, it makes the picture blur, and they go by too fast.

Tony is sitting with me now, so we do get to talk for a minute. He said for American Bred Bitches eight are entered and so far only five have picked up.

I did get to go work the crowd for a minute, and sat with Flower Boy, so now my national is complete. Things are slow now waiting for American Bred. I just talked to Dan over by the photographer, so he is not at ring side. Gloria Rice came by for a minute.

It isn't the same without Ed Barritt, but he told me he wasn't going to come. They are ready to go, so here we go. This is a small class, but Bitches are much bigger. Dan came by and said he wants to drag the five out to finish the afternoon. Norma is talking to me about her dogs, and says she would have made it a bigger class.

Maureen Charlton came by and there they go into the ring.

First is Ken Tank, then Channing Sheets, Kent Boyles, Liz, another and Tish then Georgie. Dan is making fun of me because I said only five picked up. All eight are there. I see some I like a lot, let's see what they do in movement.

Dan walks down the line and looks at them stacked. All the double handlers are in front of me.

Houston, we have a problem. But, there are more dogs to place.

I have been off talking to Bob, (The Voice Of The National), and he reminded me that Kathy Steen is who got him started announcing, and then convinced him to get a judging licence. So that may be why she is here. I think I will go talk to Bob some more, so I will put Zoe to work. She ate lunch and has nothing else to so.

Another individual pass around the ring for the dogs in the second group. Moved them to a bew order 383, 385, 384, 386.
Group one was 382, 379, 380, 381
DAN SAID ALL THE DOGS ARE EXCELLENT.
Group one goes around the ring for anther pass.
He leaves them in that order, and walks down the line of stacked dogs, eying them critically.

Now 382 is up front, 383, 385, 384, 380, 386, 379 and 381

Double handlers are racing to the far end of the ring.

Bob left me so I am back and so I have the keyboard. Boy they sure can go fast, and Dan is looking at this first four, and he sends them back and now his winners, four.

In front is Liz with Mtn Dare Devil. I like that dog and she takes off and now is in second to Gideon. Dan stands them aside and looks at the other two, Iron Man and Barbaro with Lindsey. The crowd likes that dog a lot, and so do I. Lee Bellah has him. Barbaro goes into second, and still four. Now back to the out four, and Dan stands to watch and Kent is in the last place, nothing he is used to, but so is George in this group, led by Channing. Dan stops them and looks them over and stamps his foot. I have no idea why, and gives them a brief and I mean a brief look. We just had a thundering herd of doublers go by.

The crowd is wild now and there they go, and no, he stops them and moves Channing up and that's it.

There are five in there. I know Bob is hoping for better temperament. I know he is going to look closely. There they go, I see Veronica then Dave, (who is doing all the winning), then Leslie, Eric and Cindi Tellefson.

They are all handlers too, so it doesn't matter that they are breeders. Paul Root is talking Mike, and walking about down at the end of the ring. I see Kent talking to Jimmie and Mr. Avery is here to talk to me. I gave him a piece of candy and he never mentioned Sharon. I need to start to think of what to get for the office staff, they have called me each day. I just got a call from my associate who is in court, and he wanted to get my idea what to do.

Dave Lasater is in the ring and he sure has had success in the last few years. We co-own Magic Marker with him, and besides her, he has had a lot of winners, even this week.

Nancy Ellis is talking to Scottie and I think they have things settledEllen just came by with one hell of a dog. I got to hug him, not Ellen. I love Elli, and have hopes for him. Up close he is very impressive and I hope he goes Grand Victor, he is sound as could be, and very very type to look at. I got to spend some time with him, and win or lose that is a dog that has my heart.

Bob is still judging. But, that was the last one. He moves Leslie up front with Chardonnay and leaves Dave in second with Deuces Wild. Bob retests Rhyme with Cindy and moves her to second and off they go. Bob is walking and that is a good sign but now he stops to look at them and they keep on moving and Bob walks over to them and tells them to stand.

Bob puts the last three to the side and works the first two. Peggy Cunningham is here talking to me and so is Al, who sits and talks. Down and back with the two. Al showed me a picture of who is supposed to be in this class, and a real nice one.
Bob puts Cindy up front and off they go.

Bred By Dogs after the dust clears

I am not sure what Zoe did, but I think I sent Novice Dogs and Novice Bitches together.

The last class by Bob was a good wakeup for us all. If you have bad temperament, don't train your dog to stand, move on. Do not breed on it, you just make for more problems. And, if your dog is not sound, don't deny it. Also, however, remember that this is but one show on one day, and they are dogs. Things can happen, so be sure you know the difference.

It is now Bred By Dogs and only three in the ring. Eric has the first one, then Jeff and then Nancy. I can imagine Dan is going to check temperament with a close look, but so far the first two look just fine.

Zoe is still helping me and I just said that Eric is here. She asked if he was showing his own dog. I told her, THIS IS BRED BY. So, yes, he is showing his own dog. Now much to choose from but three different types of German shepherds. Jeff goes to the front with Year Of The Gentleman, then Eric has Easy Rider and then Nancy with Man About Town. Very classy names. Jeff goes to the front and now there still are three. Dan is looking them over and over and he likes what Eric has. More double handling than any other class for some reason, and off they go. I think that is probably that, No, Dan wants to look again. He likes the dark dog with Eric and goes over the back on his and Nancy's and moves Nancy into second. Dan is serious even with only three, and that probably is it, and yes, Dan is walking instead of just standing and there it is.

This is a small class, there are only four entered. So, I am leaving this to Zoe, and I am going for a walk.

I promise to return. There are only 4 DOGS. Zoe is threatening the premark the catalogue, and 358 is missing so far. Where is Playmaker?

We have Larus, Keeper and Blackjack in the ring. He has placed Keeper in front, Luke second and Jack third.

OK, I am back, Zoe gave it up for the good of the breed. I got to spend some quality time with Dave Rinke, and we were able to solve the problems in the sport, but need to work on our national financials next.

Bob is doing his thing in a small class again, and it is going to be a short day. But we do American Bred too, and that is a big class. The crowd likes what Mike does with Paige and I do too.

They stack and Bob tells them to take a trip and it is amazing how strong Bob looks. There they go with George in front and they use the whold ring. The white wall is just at ear height, so it is perfect. Bob walks over to the group and looks at them and gives direction and asks them to bring each one out and is doing another temperament test, not that good on the first one, now the second and that is also not perfect, now third and Nancy has that one and she also backs off a bit, and now JR with number four who stands and now Leslie with number five and she stands, and now the last one with George the crowd favorite, and Bob says drop the lead and she ducks too, but ends up standing. Now he has a real problem. I can't imagine why so much of a problem here, but those who looked at the video know. George goes into second behind Leslie.

Off they go for another run. Bob is walking faster so he likes the way they are and he has one hand up, and that's the way they are.

It's a dog show.

Bob, (The Voice Of The National) is sitting next to me on one side and Donna Calabrese on the other side. That is my idea of how to enjoy a national.

The dogs are in there twelve and Dan is in the ring.

Bob and I have to stop with the jokes, and we need to sit together for the Specials. I have a problem in that I don't have a catalog and Michel isn't here with the lists, so I don't know who is in the ring. Sharon Earl, (I know) came by and is sitting with us. Olivia is in the ring with a real alert looking dog and I see everyone else is watching. I see Sheri in the ring talking not handling. And off Olivia goes down and back. All the handlers are in there.

Sheri came by and has a hedge hog on a rope, and I hope she is using it to double handle, if not, she is too old for a stuffed toy. Karen Wagner came by with some glasses. Sheri said Jim was a good boy today. We asked and she said he was on time and in a good mood. I believe that.

Donna is not a good influence on me. There is a lot going on that I will not say to protect the minors who might read this. Now Joanna is here and asking me about the Blog. Donna is wearing bling and sparkles.

Donna wants to say hello to Mom and Bonnie. I have no idea who that is, but she is important enough to make hte Blog, and that is a good thing. JR just took a pass and now Christie has a good looking dog, lots of bone and color.

Here comes Terri Miles and Jess. Al Rand is with them and he did well yesterday at 75, and said the ring was great to run in. Joanna had Bob talking so we can't tell jokes. Ann Schultz is here now and everyone of my rowdy friends have come down.

Beginning before the beginning

It is early and the ring is empty. I saw Hunter working his dog and he will be a favorite for the Juniors. Ken and Kathy were giving him advice. I see Kent walking in and Bobbie and Sandy are here. They always come early. The building is cold, probably about 40, and the vendors are taking off the covers, the coffee is perking, and there are rolls and orange juice free for everyone.

I saw Donna Alcott and she is headed to Hawaii and looking for another dog, maybe a puppy. Sandy Anderson is here and just walking along. Everyone looks a bit tired, and I see Bob Grady getting the ring set up. They are cleaning the bleachers, and now Bill Bergraff has gotten here to set up the other venues. I talked to LanaLee and things seem to be going well with the video, and I can't imagine anyone not getting it, unless they are here. Next year we need to promote it to the general public, it would be a great way to promote our breed.

I realized today that I miss the Grangers, and then I got to think about Randy Chesnut and hope he gets part of the national next year. I have to wait to Saturday to find out.

I can feel the excitement starting to build. I don't think it is just me, but people are starting to laugh, meet and greet, and most of them are milling around with coffee. The cameras are set up and I think maybe broadcasting already.

Yesterday after seven in the evening they had the Agility Challenge in the ring. I wasn't there but I hear it was well received.

I talked to Sam Isreal this morning and Jammie and Gail Hardcastle just came in. I hope Jammie gets part of the National next year, she does such a great job. Jammie waved at me, and I am sitting high in the bleechers to watch things grow. I love this time of day. Jammie always does well and is sitting with me now, and it is great to see her. She is always cheerful and I enjoy talking to her. To me, this is what the national is about, the dogs are just how you keep score. I miss Jeff Mobeus too, although he doesn't say much, but when he does, he makes me laugh.

Karen Wagner just got here, and the seats are starting to fill. Ten minutes to show time, so I am about to head down to the table. I bought cookies and more candy, so, it should be a good day.

Early before the show

A problem is that no times are in the catalogs. We all keep going to the arena by seven, and the show yesterday started at nine. I don't know what that is about.

There is no bad weather like last year. All the events are in the sun and except for inside, it is perfect dog show weather. I know it can be a bit cold inside, but the seats are comfortable, the food is good, (I have had three corn dogs), and Kevin has his food coach so if anyone wants top quality eats, it is there.

Bill Bergraff is everywhere, and the feelings is more like the Canadian national, very relaxed and fun. They have the ring set with an area to double all around so no one gets run over,and the floor is down below the seats, and no one is keeping anyone from being there.

I am isolated down on the floor, so I don't like that, but it does give me time to Blog and do the other stuff they have asked me to do. I am having a lot of fun, and only miss being able to mingle with the little people. I did get to sit with Jim and Sheree for just a minute, and will be able to do that more, during the presentations today.

Paul Johnson looks lots better and I only got to talk to Dave for a minute, and will find him today. Flower Boy will be here and that always brings more laughs, so another day, another dog show.

Tedi tells me the streaming video is going great. Lanalee is the most dedicated person and works it all the time. I see so many of us at the cameras and I guess they have sound. I hope everyone is enjoying the show as much as I am.

WONDERFUL THE LAST CLASS OF THE DAY.

I got to sit with Nancy Harper for a minute. She is a hoot, and now Zoe is back to pick on me. She is a big help, but I can type and only listen to one person. When it gets to be more than three, I tend to freak.

Nine in the class and Bob is not going to take that long. They take a pass, the first five. I like Last Harah, and I think she is a star, from the first pass. But, as best I know, I was not asked to judge this show.

I see Paul Root sitting at the table at the end of the ring, and it seems everyone behind me is talking. There is a show going on, but no one seems to care. The Moores party is tonight, but I don't think I will have the energy. Mike Cheeks is sitting at the table with me, and he is always interesting.

Joanne has number 444, and since Zoe took off with the list of who is who, I have no idea who she is handling. Did you care? OK, Zoe came back so it is Black Gold, if you cared or not.

Bob has them divided into four and he is working the group and looking good doing it. Bob Grady told me his suit is burgundy. I say it is purple. Just different opinions. Now he works the group, Bob Dressher and there they go, Jeff, The Guz, Amy and Cindy. Three out of four from California. Something has to hold my interest.

Dan Smith is sitting with us and he looks like he could go two more days. Oh, he has to doesn't he. Bob moves Blind Luck in front and then The Guz with Day In Paradise. There goes Cindy with Smooth As Silk in first, and she takes a pass alone, then Sexy Chick and Bob watches her and now The Guz with Day in Paradise. The crowd likes the first bitch best, radise, and then Bind Luck. Bob is giving everyone a good hard look. Bob sends them back and starts to watch them stacked. Cindy is jazzed and his bitch is very alert, and The Guz moves to second. Bob looks them over and calls it off.

9-12 dogs

This is a small class, and only six. Mike Cheeks and I were talking and he said the quality is because those with top winners would make the trip and if they had marginal pups, they would not take the trip. It sure looks that way to me.

I don't ever remember this much quality in one show. I am enjoying talking to Mike, and he and I agree on quality.

He just moved Nigeria in front, then Rum Runner, Scottie with Denver and in fourth, is Jeff with High Five and there they go. Dan is watching and this is his first placing with the black dog in front and he pulls them to a stop. He takes Jeff with High Five to second, and he looks them over. In front is Nigeria andKent is directing the double handlers and off they go again.

The crowd is into it and Dan is standing still but now he walks slowing, a sure sign he isn't done but put JR in fourth and that is it.

I had to take a break

I had people yelling at me to post the obedience, then to say who the tracking winner was, (no one) and what happened in other rings. Then Bobbie wants me to announce the winners, some are telling me the dogs names, and some numbers and then others the handlers.

Liz says she is not getting the Blog posts on her computer on the List, and Zoe is telling me yes they are, and they come to my computer on the List, so I have no idea what is going on.

All I know is that the judges are doing a super job, it is a very long day already, we have two more puppy classes to go, and Tish wants me to list the winners of all events for her to read at the dinner on Saturday.

Michel wants them to give it to them in an e-file, Zoe is trying to write it done on a form Tish gave us. Tony said he can do it if I want him to, and I just want to see a dog show.

I know nothing about performance, and don't understand the titles. I never was a big performer myself, and I gave up. I took a break and now I feel no better. Maybe I need to learn about performance and Blog for them too. I sure do respect all the work that goes into it, I just don't know enough to post.

I now have another break as they do the individuals in 12-18 dogs.

I was asked to fill out all the winners from all events for Tish to read at the meeting on Saturday night. It is a joke asking me to understand all the obedience information, but Zoe is helping me, so we are getting there. I don't know what I am doing. Zoe wanted me to post the obedience winners, but I don't understand it, but will see if I can do it.

In the first group we have Lisa with Yunaleska, Greg with Summer Blue Bird, Lenny with Heiress, Kent with Funtastic, and Tammy with tainted Hart. In the second group there is China with Olivia, Thunderbird with Kelly, Cake with Nike, Daddy'S Lil Girl with Connie, Halston with Scottie and Coquille with Lindsay.

THEY ARE ALL TOGETHER NOW.

He has picked 4 from the first group Lenny, Olivia, Scottie followed by Lindsay and Greg and Mike.

I am back and there goes Bob and he has the walk. Halston in front and now he goes to the next group. There they go and one at a time down and back. This is a Fasano national. Now Scottie and now Lindsey. Dan is looking at Lindsey's dog and he is really studding him and takes him down and back again. He looks at his other three and he walks to the fourth one with Olivia. Bob watches and now Greg. Now to Mike with Let em eat Cake, and he now looks at the first four, and tells them he wants to see the first three, and Lennie is in front and he goes by himself. The crowd likes that dog, and he uses the whole ring. That seems a bit much for puppies, so the puppy takes a dump. I don't blame him. That ring is a long run. He looks even better now. Bob Grady gets a big hand for his pick up ability.

Heiress is still in front then Halston, Coquille, and Made in China. I think that should be the way it goes, but there is still another group of bitches in there. This is a great group, and there goes Lennie. A crowd favorite. She is still working like a trouper. Now Scottie takes is bitch, she is using the whole ring and has a terrific front, and is very smooth and hard working. Bob moves her up to the front. Now Lindsey with Coquille. This is a lot of work for puppies, but they seem willing and the crowd likes her. Bob is watching her hard, and he looks at the first three,a nd now walks over to the rest of them and excuses all but six. They head out of the ring, the end of the class and off go the keepers. They give it their all, and Bob is walking with a determined look abnd he seems to like what he sees and looks them over again. They stop again and there they stand. Joanne makes a point to say how great she looks and it is true.

Bob watches what he has in the ring, and off they go again. This must be the end, and Bob does look determined and YES, that's it.

Zoe is waiting for Evan to return from the Host Hotel, and Michel EBERTIN TO RETURN WITH A DIGITAL CATALOGUE.

Zoe cannot type well on a laptop as her nails keep hitting the cap lock. In the meantime, TISH IS SELLING 50-50 TICKETS.

The young males are now coming into the ring. First Pass. Kelly Has Mayer. 301 Appears to be absent. Mike Has Phoenix RISING. Trent is being Shown by The Guz. There is a solid Blak dog in the ring - Johnnie Black with Bill Basu. Shut up Flower boy. Boom Boom is being shown by Tammy S. And here comes EVAN TO TAKE OVER. And there goes Evan. Onto group B

Georgie has Funny you should ask. Zoe has left the computer.

I went back to the hotel to get my pills, and I feel a lot better about stuff now. So, now let's have some fun. Dan is doing his thing, so stand by. Actually Dan and Bob are doing a super job. Jamie did the perfect judging I expected her to do, and now with these boys, it continues. It is going slow, but the results are as good as could be asked, and the quality blows me away. I was not anxious to come without Tedi, but I would not have believed this if I had not seen it.

He moves Santiam to the front of the group and Dexter Morgan to second and now goes back to his first group. Why are all these peopl/e talking about cookies? It is making me hungry. Dan walks down to look them over and talks to Bill Basu and there they go, Liz, Micky, Foann, Bill Basu, The Guz and one more I have not met, but will before the week is over. Now Dan walks over to the first group and tell Al Rand with Santiam to go in front and then The Mayor with Liz, and Bill with Johnnie Black and then Jeff with Dexter.

Dan takes the rest of the class around and lets the last five go, and he keeps in six. Last is Georgie with Funny You Should Ask of Edan. But, he is still there. Now they each take a run and he puts Mike in second, Al Rand is in front with Avion Santiam of :Pioneer Acres. I know Al is jazzed. Dan is five feet in front of me and the double handlers are bunched so I can't see anything. Dan goes down the shoulder and stands back to look at him. That dog looks good in front, but isn't real steady, and he moves Mike up to first with Phoenix Rising. Mike is doing a good job with him and it shows. Now, there is a set of ears, and they head out to take another pass, off they go while Dan stands in the middle. The crowd likes that. Dan walks over and looks and he isn't done. He wants to and does move the black with Bill, Johnnie Black to second and Jeff with Dexter to third. Now Al is fourth. And they take another lap. Dan gives the first couple a good look and he is walking faster, NO, another change. He moved The Mayor to fourth and that is it.

Maturity Bitches and Best In Maturity

MATURITY BITCHES
In come the ladies. It is one o'clock and we aren't finished with the Maturity yet. This is going to be a long day, unless the class entries are small. It doesn't look like it. No sound from behind me, the crowd either left or is sleeping. Sixteen in there, by my count. Now what I would call a small class. Paul Root came by and is talking to me and Zoe. Dan is very through, exceptionally so.

I again have lost interest. But these are great bitches. Capri is in there and what a picture she is posed with Scottie. Tish came by and she gave me another assignment, and I will do what I can.

I guess through is the best word? Dan is still on the first group. Leslie came by, and she looks better than ever. It is so good to see that. Dan moves Ariel to second and brings out the second group. I wonder if I ask the right person if we could go from Futurity/Maturity to Specials and skip the rest?

Sharlonna is in the ring and coming up for the first time is Bill Tank. I saw Ken and Kathy Tank with Hunter who is going to show in Juniors. I just saw Caterina take a pass. I already said how much I love that bitch and gave her a Best of Breed at a show I judged. Michael Cheeks just reminded me he gave Kirk a Best Puppy and he asked how the dog is doing. He remembered Summer, and I do wish she were here. Next year, and we all have to work on her parents.

Norma is here with Harvey, and no different from ever. It is good to see her. She is talking to Judy Tidel. I understand we are going to have a break after the Maturity for dinner, and then go into the 6-9 and 9-12 puppies. We may have to skip night and move right into Thursday.

Love Remembears goes to the front. Dan now takes Caterina and puts her in second. Jimmie scares Lennie by going in front but then smiles. It is Loves Remembers and Caterina. I can't see anything else, what a couple of fantastic bitches and that wakes the crowd. Dan goes over to them and looks at Catarina, and he stands and looks and he takes a look back and now walks down the line and moves Bill Tank up with n'Jms Encore.

Now on to the other group. Dan says, "The job doesn't get any easier does it?" The quality is as high as I have ever seen at a national and we are just in the Maturity. I think the breed is improving. Dan puts Love Remembears in front and calls out Catarina and puts her in fourth. In second is Ariel and third is Lookalike. There they go with Love in front. Dan walks over to them and looks at the first one, and then the second. He looks and stands the handlers stack and he goes to the front. That's it, Love Remembears.

Maturity dogs

Bob heads back on the green, and there goes the Maturity dogs, one at a time. First is Georgie, then Kent, Liz, Mikie with Kobe, (now that is a Maturity Dog), and Alex, Lee, The Guz, Jeff, and at the end is Art. Now, that is a good group of dogs. Hard to go against the Canadian Grand Victor, but it is a different day with a different judge. Kobe sure can move.

They all take a nice pass, and take it slow. Another pass for the same group. It is very quiet here, and 50% are absent. Now the same dogs again. Let's see what the crowd does with Kobe. He is in there now. What a good looking dog. Yes, he is well respected and is a good moving dog. I asked Kris Fasano about showing a Canadian Grand Victor in Maturity, and she told me she is showing her Canadian Grand Victrix in Maturity. So, I guess that is a question you face if and when it happens. I don't know what I think of that, but I remember showing my Select Two bitch in the local maturity and going second in the class. I overheard people complaining that I even would show her.

Dave Rinke and Paul Johnson are standing with me now. Paul is all cleaned up, and so he no longer looks like a street person. Not drinking Thunderbird from a brown bag helps the transition. I like the way Bob gives them a full look all the way around the ring. He is working the first group and tells them to take a pass again, five in there. Kobe sure stands out in that group.

Bob now calls out the second group. Only four, but they are strong handsome dogs. Biscotti with The Guz, Merlin with Jeff, Army Soldier with Art and Horse with No Name with Liz. They take a nice pass, and for me, Biscotti stands out. Frank Fasano came by to read what I am doing, and I do hope he gets on the board. He would be a good addition for our club. Biscotti is starting to let up, and isn't giving what I saw in the first few passes. Joanne Corben came by, and is looking so good. She said exercise and diet. So, I offered her some candy. Biscotti is one good looking dog stacked.

It is past lunch time so Zoe went to get us a sandwich to split from Kevin's coach. Boy the Maturity dogs are impressive. I do need to go see if my medication has arrived. I have given notice that if I go into a coma, that I should be given some insulin, but so far it hasn't affected me. But so far it hasn't affected me. But so far it hasn't affected me.

Dr Rice is now here, and seems to be doing well, and now we have Sharlonna too. They are cheering on Army Soldier. Bob has them all lines up and walks down the line looking at each of them. He stops on each dog and gives them a good look and has his hands in his pockets and walks down to the end. Everyone seems to get the same look, and back to the front. Bob folds his arms and looks over them all.

He moves Eli in front, the Kobe then High Voltgage. Those should be the ones in competition for Grand Victor in two days. Bob stops them and then moves the rest to give them one last look. Tough competition for Maturity. It is still Eli in front, the Kobe and High Voltage. Bob tells them Down And Back and take it easy. He is right in front of me. There goes Kobe. Biscotti is in fourth place now. Only first matters and he moves High Voltage to second in front of Kobe.

He moves Biscotti into second, and The Guz and Kent have to fight it out, it looks like. Bob is looking them over, and he is about six feet in front of me. Great looking dogs and he sends the other four out, and have five left. Everyone is in front of me, so I have trouble seeing, but Bob is looking at heads and it can't be better than Biscotti.

Bob sends them around one at a time. High Voltage, Biscotti, Horse With No Name. All great dogs. This woke the crowd up. I can't imagine much better dogs in Specials on Saturday. There goes Kobe, not as much crowd support as I would expect. He is in fifth, and Bob wants to see the first two, each in front one time. Eli and Biscotti.

Futurity Bitches and BIF

Now Dan with the bitches. This might take a while ten in there. Kris Frasano is sitting with me, so I have to be careful what I say, she knows the truth. Dan takes them around and I like what Scottie has and there are some nice ones in there. Bill Basu has an all black, she is too wound up, but I think she is a good one. Michel took the catalog with him, so I don't know who anyone is.

Dan takes the first group of six, and the first is a sable, a real good looking bitch. OK, since I have to be honest, I don't think Kirk would have won the Futurity. But, he would have looked good. Scottie is out in the middle of the ring with a sable that is a great looking type. He knows how to pose her, or she is that good. Nice outline in movement.

Now Georgie comes in, and Tish Wyle just walked by. Jimmie came to say hello and shake, it was good to feel a warm hand. It is cold in here and sunny outside. The heat hasn't gotten to the building yet. Lauren is here to double something, but I can't tell what. I like the side-gait on Georgie's bitch. I do miss Paul and Jennifer, I need Paul to make this a real show.

Charlotte Funk stopped to say hello, and moved on. The handlers are running full out, and no one seems to complain. Another reason why I should never do a national. Carole Moore is here with a real cut puppy. Alex came by, and he is smiling as always.

There they go, one at a time. Ileana is here now, and talking to us all. Another bitch goes around, and tries to cut the ring, but Georgie won't allow it. A real good pass against the white wall, and there goes the next one. I do like Paige and so does the crowd but I would want to slow her down. Can walks to the front of the ring, and tells them down and back.

Michel went to take a break. It is going to be a while, but everyone is getting a good look. Now much crowd involvement yet. He moves Stella in second behind Gone With The Wind, and that is the only one he moved in this group, and there goes Paige. Dan moves her in front, YES!

Now on to the second group. The Gus, then Art, JR, Bill and Cindy. All the California bitches. Frank Fasano and Ann Schultz are hugging next to me, a lot of power from the breed right there. Karen Taylor is standing next to us now and so is Alex. Dan is done with the second group.

I took a break to take a break. Did you miss me? Now again, one at a time, and there goes The Guz with Bella. Now Art with Wicked, then JR with High Noon, JR with Classic In Black, and Cindy with Animus Girl. All the California bitches. Bob Moore is here now.

Dan goes to the front and takes them all down and back. He moves Bill up to third with Classic In Black. And he moves Cindy up to fourth in this group with Animus Girl. Dan walks over to the microphone and tells us that "our future is great, but he will do his best" and he puts Bella in Front followed Paige, then Gone With The Wind and the fourth is Stella. He is considering these four and off they go, using the whole ring as instructed. And the crowd is into it. Dan moves Gone With The Wind to the second place. Now he wants to see the rest, I don't think it is going to make any difference, but there they go, four together and Dan tells them to sit out the dance, and he looks at the last three, with dreams about to be dashed, yes, Dan tells them to rest and GIVES IT TO THE GUZ WITH JAGAN LENLOR'S SOLIKEHAPPY.

Now Best in Futurity. There goes the dog with Nancy. I think Solikehappy is going to be the crowd favorite. I do like that dog, League of His Own. WOW do I like those two winners. I have watched Bella a lot, but I never saw Dave's dog. The crowd does like Bella. Dan watches them And he turns and he points to Bella.

FUTURITY DOGS

In they come eight, and he breaks them into two groups.

I just know that Kirk would have won this all. First is Scottie, then Tish Kent and Mike. Those are a good looking group of dogs and I see some great ptential in there. I like the Aragon son Kent has, and now that he is standing right in front of me, I like him even more. Now for the individuals. All the double handlers are in front of me.

He is on to the second group. They are good looking dogs and the second group is Alex, JR, Nancy and Channing. Bob is getting smarter and staying in the middle of the ring, and having all the dogs come to him. JR is going out there now.

I hear the streaming video is going out well and it is good to watch. OMG there is a temperament problem and the dog is going to be excused. I feel bad for JR, and it is a great looking dog, buat maybe too young. It is Hitman, and I know the dog and he will come around. But, not today.

The National is one show on one day with one judge. You do need to be ready for anything. I again wish Kirk were here, and I have to admit I wish Summer were here to show him. But, otherwise it is a good day. I just saw Joey Perez, and he has been working out. Channings dog jumped up on Bob to kiss him. I think that temperament will be OK. Bob does love the dogs and I think they realize it. At least Jack Bauer Tebe Nobe does. All the individuals are done.

They all come out and line up, now there are seven. These doublers are serious and I see Jimmie is here telling Kent what to do. Kent listens. Jimmie and Sheree ar both talking to Kent now. He listens to them both. They are all in front of me. He pulled Scottie in front then Nancy and looks at the rest and tells them to take them around on a loose lead. So far no one has been doing it. There go the other five and they still go too fast, but slower. Bob tells them to stand aside, I don't think he is much for those five. Now he has two League of His Own and Dennis The Menace. He moves League Of His Own in front and there they go, and Nancy is going hell bent for leather, and she lets him go and YES, It's Dennis The Menace.

It must be Wednesday since I am at the show. I just heard that the open mike is getting everything that is being said, so I warned everyone. They did the parade of clubs and now the amateur futurity, and it is show time.

I see Bob Dressher in the ring, and got to talk to him for just a minute. Bobbie is putting a mark in the ring to get them to pose there, and here comes Dan Smith. Lots of people in the ring today, and everyone is ready. Now it sounds and looks like a dog show.

Bob Dressher is so distinguished looking in a black suit and with that gray hair. After sitting with him at the announcer's table for twenty years or so, it seems strange to come to the national without exchanging jokes.

Just one dog in the first class, Amateur Futurity, two absent. I hear The Guz behind me, but I can't see him. The dog in the ring is Eithan. The handler looks so serious, and I guess it is tense at the show. The crowd gives her some cheer, and that is a first.

Now Amateur Futurity Bitches.

Two in the class, two young girls. I wonder how they like this ring, it is open to full and they use it all. I see Art Sinclair at the end of the ting with a tie, so he must be showing today. Dan talks to the ladies and walks to the center ob the ring and takes them around. Debbie Friedberg just walked by. It makes me feel better to see the handlers breathing heavy. Dan has them stop and let them stand on a loose lead. There is a gold circle in the center of the ring. Eric Norby is doubling the bitch. Eric has a new haircut, a brush cut as we used to call them, and it looks god on him.

Ann Schultz came by and told me the terrible story of trying to fly out of Detroit. They insisted of 700 crate, and then the plane wouldn't take it. What a mess, and on the flight back, they can't take it either. She is not happy, but at least she is here, and so is the dog after 17 hours in a crate.

There go the two amateurs and Dan is looking at them from the center of the ring and watches them all the way. He is having them go past the white wall and walks over to them. He loks at them and gives them direction they are huffing and puffing, and he reverses them and off they go. Sandy Anderson jsut came by with a big smile, and Dan watches his bitches and walks over to them, If he keeps standing in the middle, it is going to be along week for him. Now, down and back. They stand free. Dan gives them another direction and he heads to the middle, and they take a trip one at a time. Two bitches, and plenty of experience, maybe that is a good thing. Dan walks back over again. He is getting a workout too.

Dan tells the double handlers to back off, and talks to the exhausted handlers and walks back to the center. The girls are taking a breath and I wonder how many times they can do this. Off the one goes with some crowd support. The whole ring and she is starting to take dee breaths, and yes the crowd likes her. Dan walks over again and looks them over, and stands there to look and he goes over with his hands the second bitch and moves her in front of the other. The crowd likes that. And Dan walks again to the center and they take another trip, Dan watches them and Yes, that's it.

Candy Z just told me to write about her, or maybe it was right. I am not sure. But, you heard it first here. I don't like being so isolated here, I can't talk to anyone.

Dan waves off the double handler for the individual. I am not sure why he is doing it again, but there it is. Jackie Pillipant came by and it is going to be a long day. Georgie walked by and said hello, and Bart is here in a lumberjack shirt.

Dan did a full exam on the dog again and now he moves to the bitch. Bob had done the dog, so Dan did the full thing, as he should.

He looks them over and gives it to the dog.
The bitch got best opposite.

Now on to the amateur Maturity dogs and bitches.

Mr. Dressher is back in the ring and Bill Basu and Richard Sottille came walking by solving the problems of the world. Again, I am so sorry we don't have Kirk her for his Futurity. Maybe I can convince the board that if I didn't show him this year, I can show him next year in the Futurity. Anyone want to vote on that?

Two in there and they both look like good ones, one an all black. Bob takes them around and he too is in the center of the ring. They have the ring open for the futurity and it is too big for these kids. Iliana came by, and Bob is doing the individual on the black. I see Scottie is here and he knew to come a bit later. Kennie Cunningham is stading watching, I see he has gooming stuff and is calling the dog. Very subtle however. And off he goes. Channing Sheets if off to the side waiting for the real show to start.

Kennie is grooming the black, so either he is just very friendly or knows the dog. Sheryll Brocket just walked in front of me, and I saw Rodger earlier. Bob Freeny is here and gave me a video of Big Boy, Mike and Judd running together. I can't wait to view that one.

Iza Kabuska was talking to me, and told me about her move. I seems strange to think of her in the South. I see Sheri Moses with a dog, and Bob moves the second dog into first. The kids are breathing hard, and Bob looks them over from the front and seems to be looking at feet. And gives them directions to take a lap. They each take a deep beath and Bob walks towards them as they go by the white wall and that's it.

So far only two and they take a full lap when no one is watching. Mike Cheeks is here and refuses to say anything. He has nothing to fear from me. Ben Bigornia is walking by and isn't dressed to show, but with him, he might be. Carole Moore came by and is watching the crowd. We are about ten steps down from the seats so I don't get to talk to anyone. Zoe came by to say hello and tells me what went on with her computer. Max Thompson came by carrying the trophies.

My aunt who is 97 just sent me a post she is stuck in Ireland and someone stole her money and could I send her $1400 to get home. I sent her a post to correct her syntax and spelling. My sister called me to warn me. I had it figured out, however.

Dan is doing his thing and had gone over the dog, so it can't be much longer. Dave Coleman is walking by with some awards, so he is working. Dan back brushes the dog's back and feels the bitches leg. Go figure. He stands back, rubs his chin, and sends the dog around, there goes Ike. And they both take off and another trip in dog land and a big ring for them. Dan is ready, walks over towards them and they come to a stop. He walks up to them and he walks up to the dog and is looking at him from the front and tells him to go down and back. She listens to Dan, and does what he says. Good move. Only half a ring, however. Now Dan goes to the bitch and tells her down and back too, and there she goes. And back.

Dan looks them over and gives the bitch handler some instructions and she takes her in a different direction down and back. Dan looks her over and gives it to the dog.

Wednesday before the show

I just had breakfast with JR, Dave Coleman and Louie. It is cold here, but they say it is going to warm up again. We were trying to solve all the problems of the dog world, and we got through most of them. There are few that we still need to work on.

This show is missing Joan Fox, and now and then she would even bring Murray, my favorite person.

I got a call from Paula, she wanted to ride over with me, so I get to see Harley again. Bill Bergraff said that Harley Davidson the motorcycle company might sponsor the World Trials. I always thought of Harley Davidson as the German shepherd of the motorcycles. That should be a good fit.

I did get to say a few words to Trish last night, and I saw Jammie. She did another great job of judging. The entry was small, but the quality was good. And she always makes it look like she is having a good time.

The ring is large, and they have sawdust on the edges so the dust is minimal. The footing looks good and no one has complained. I am sorry we don't have Kirk her, and even more so without Summer, she would have had a great time at the National. There are a lot of people waiting to see her, not so much Kirk.

It is strange to be at a National without a dog. Paula lets me visit Harley now and then, so that helps. Today I have to pick up 14 seat tickets, and only Tedi knows who they go to. So, I may just ignore it. There are plenty of seats without reserving them. And with the smaller entry, I doubt it will be a problem. I saw Kathy Potter yesterday and did get to congratulate her, and I can't wait to see how the dog looks this year.

This should be a great day with all the Futurity/Maturity and young dogs. I can leave in another 14 minutes.

I watch the miners being saved from the mine. Am I so crazy that I saw it like whelping a litter. The first one came out alive, yeah. Now another one, and another, and they are all breathing and strong. I wonder if anyone there feels that way?

Reflections

I can't help reflect on so many that weren't here.

Mostly without Tedi it is a very different National. She keeps me grounded and tells me what I want to do, so I don't have to think about it. She stayed home with the three week old litter, they are all doing great, but I am sorry she missed this show.

Helen Fisher should be here as should Rita, I miss her laugh. Ed Barritt is always important at our shows, and he is not here. I sure do miss my crazy friends from Wisconson, Jane Kerner always makes me laugh.

A show is not a show without Tom and Vivian, and where is Tami when we need a cheerfull face? Of course, Peggy Douglas isn't with us, and that is a shame.

Jack Newton needs to be here with Maryloo, and I know so many others that aren't at the Big Show.

Maybe some of them will be there today, I wish the show was about to begin.

Final reflections of the day

The reception was great, but we got a bit loud. It was good to see Judy Tidel, and we laughed about the old days. I took Louie back to the motel, and turned in.

The judges need to move the dogs against the white wall, not the other side.

We need number bibs, at the national no one can read arm bands.

It needs to be posted as to times, no one seemed to know the show started at one o'clock.

They have asked me to do voice over for Bob Lindsey's video, but then I can't do the Blog. I will see if there is a way to work it out.

I will run from the Blog to put the winner's names on Bob's tape, but I was asked to do a running commentary. I don't see how I can do that. But, I will investigate it.

I hope some are enjoying the Blog, it is not easy, and it still is fun for me.

I am exhausted, and will need to find a way to rest more. Maybe the next few days will not be so rushed.

Best of Breed on Tuesday

Now the open bitches and another exciting class. Five, WOW!

Peggy Kurtz came by and said hello to Twyla and me. I feel so important. Jodie in front, then Jeff, Bill Basu, Olivia and Jennereau. Only one absent in the class, it is huge, and I don't know how she will handle such a big group.

It looks like the biggest class might be Specials. 23 total bitches. The dogs were a five point major so bitches might be the same. I will have to ask someone who knows, I don't. Collette Skinner is here checking on the point count, so she is finding out for us. It is five points in bitches too.

There are two blacks in here, unless Bill's is a bi. I can't tell from here. Jamie moved Jeff to second and she looks them over and stands back again. Now she goes to the front and looks at each do from the front. One thing we need for this show is large arm bands. From the stands you can't see the numbers. Maybe we need bibs like for the National.

Jammie is working them, and looking over what she has. She has her sleeves rolled up, and into the ring goes Bob Grady to poop scoop. This is one of the high points of the show. They pose, not Bob, and Jamie takes a look and there goes Donna Callabreze, and I see Georgie standing in front of me, and Jammie is doing the stare and now the walk and there she goes and she isn't done. Evidently Lana Lee said this is the Open class, but they are from the winners so I guess it is winners. Tedi was talking to Twyla and admitted I was right, it is winners not Open. Make a note of that, I am so seldom right.

I thought Jamie was done, but no, she is still working them. She takes the first three and looks hard, with some crowd involvement. And that is the Winner's Bitch.

Now on to Best of Breed. Michael Cheeks walked by to wave and in come the champions.

Seven specials with Winner's Dog and Winner's Bitch for a mighty class of nine. This is just like a small national. Tish Wyle is here and got here yesterday. I saw Dean a little bit ago. Jamie took off her shoes, and I didn't notice, but she does seem shorter.

I spent a few minutes talking to Ellen Migliore. She looks great as always. They are doing the individuals, and a lot of good ones here. Ann Schultz's dog isn't here, and I think a lot of people were looking for him. It is a quiet as it was this morning, I think maybe people have left.

Scottie and I have been talking and he is always so kind. Another person who never seems to get older.

Jamie is going over the dogs and I can't tell who is who, since I can't read the numbers. By now I can't read the screen, which probably explains what I have been sending. I was just told that Bobbie Kindy is in the air, and will be here tomorrow. Big news.

Jamie is working the class, and has them divided into males and bitches. She works them in groups of three. There they go. Jamie is still barefoot, and seems to be making a decision. She looks them all over and holds her hands behind her back and takes the males together, four of them. Kent has my favorite, but I can't tell who anyone is because I can't read the numbers.

Jamie walks back to look over the bitches and takes the winner's dog and winner's bitch together, and now the bitch specials.

She walks over to the group and puts Olivia in front with Fire and Ice and Kent is now in second and Laurie in third, but now she puts Laurie in Second, so I think Laurie has the Winner's dog and will be Best Of Winners and There Is The Walk, and YES, it's:

American Bred Bitches

AMERICAN BRED BITCHES

There is a real class here with seven in there. It is amazing at what it takes to get exciting, and the crowd is going wild. First is Kelly, then Bill, Loren, JR, someone I can't see, then Nancy and Sharlonna. There they go and it is good to see a whole group at one time. I love the way they hug the rope, but it makes for a long run.

The Famous Linda Battistoni picked her seats from the 15 Tedi ordered. I went and picked up the tickets to get the tickets. We can get the first series today, and then the seats tomorrow. I guess it makes sense somewhere in the world.

Illeana is walking around and we got to say howdy at one time. There are more people here and I just found out I have another job for the national. When Bobbie finishes his taping of each class, I am supposed to grab the microphone and announce into his tape who the winners are. Michele is going to help me by making his catalogue, (with big print) and then I will run to Bobbie, then back to the computer to post it.

Paula has committed to helping me with Specials on Saturday, so that should be interesting. We work well together, but mostly laugh all the time. I promise to do the best I can. Ann Thompson is talking to Bob Grady, and it is a most relaxed National. No one is complaining and Lew Bunch even is laughing again. It is good to see him. Nadine Grady is giving out the tickets, and it is a steady flow. I never did understand why we get tickets to get tickets. Twyla just came by to talk.

I did show her a card trick and she liked it. Kent ran by with a bitch, I suppose she is in Open.

Jamie moved Bill Basu in front, then Nancy with Joane in third and Jamie takes the last three together. It is Kelly, JR and Sharlonna. There goes Bill then Nancy and Joanne. Bart came by to say he wanted to talk to me, and I hope I am not in trouble.

Jamie stands back and tells them to take a pass, and they all go and she is taking her Winner's Walk, and YES, that's it.
