Last Post of 2006 National

The judge for next year in Specials will be Ed Barrittl, dogs will be Carman Battaglia, and bitches Bob Kish.
It has been fun to post for you all, another year in the books, and now to important stuff, earning enough money to do it again.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Where Type Movement and Temperament come together

DOG, AT LAST

We are waiting for the males to come in. I would go to the restroom, but I am afraid I might miss who goes Select.  This has to be a record for the fastest judging at a national.  The ring was silent when she eliminated about bitches in the first cut, after the individuals. Dania didn’t miss posting what was going on, that is the system Helen used. She did the individuals, and after she finished all of them, she pulled 11, and let the rest go. I have never seen that before, but everyone has their own style.  I heard that one person figured it was $1,000.00 a lap. I had someone else say they weren’t going to charge the full handling fee, that is an amazing gesture.

The tension is building, and everyone is wondering if Helen will do the same thing in Dogs.  If so, we had better look quickly if we want to see anyone, because we will only get one chance.  At least we know what to do.  It is just before 1:00 and we were supposed to begin at quarter to, but we are still waiting.  Cathy Potter came to say hello, and I see people eating lunch.

AND HERE THEY COME, AND DANIA IS HERE, SO THE FIRST TEAM IS ON BOARD.

Dania is marking who is here, and she has to do it right away, as they might be gone before we get a chance to do anything else. I don’t see Helen yet, and dogs are still coming into the ring. I think they are all in, and what a group of magnificent males. And in comes Jimmy at the end. They take up one and a half of the ring, and I doubt there are many absent.  There was some talk that people might pull dogs, but I think everyone knows they will have a looks, so they are here. Helen is in the ring, and Dania didn’t see her.  There is some tension in the arena, and Helen has her clipboard talking to the ring steward, and Bob is checking numbers of the dogs in the ring. Bob said she is ready to pick her winners. The One and Only came to join us, it is Lanalee, Bob, Dania, Ralph, Cindi and me.  Now that is a group to avoid. Now Helen is talking to the crowd and talking to the Gheleris.  Helen turns to looks and half of the class leaves the ring. I don’t think for good, but what do I know.  Actually she kept a lot of dogs, and I guess she is letting half rest.

Now Helen goes tot he front of the group, it looks like 25 or so, and she is talking to the ring steward, and there is something being done, but no one knows what it is. Now she returns to the side, and walks along to the center. She has a note pad and pen, and comes to the photographer, and looks back and here comes the steward.  They talk and he leaves and Helen moves to the center of the ring,a nd up comes the first group of five, first is Christina Mechanical Bull, then Steve with GQ, then Tiffany with Let Freedom Ring, then Lenny with Snake, and last is Sue Godek with Dream Catcher.   Christina is out there, and the dog is ignoring Helen, and she sets him up.  Mechanical Bull is a Bull Durham son.  Helen is laughing and there he goes. Helen wants him down and back again, and Christine brushes him up and takes him around.  The crowd is starting to wake up, but not much yet.

The Guz and I decided that we can all say if we showed a bitch, “we made it to the last cut.”

Now Tiffany is in the center with Let Freedom Ring.  This is the dog of our Vice President, and good looking sable.

Lennie comes in with Snake.  I miss Jack Budd at the show, and I know he is watching. Lennie and Helen are laughing, and there he goes, down and back. And around. I know this isn’t very interesting so a joke. A man walks into a bar with jumper cables around his neck. The bartender says I will serve you, but don’t start anything.

And now Nancy McDonald is in the ring, but Helen is watching the other bunch and looks over and realizes that Nancy is standing out there. Helen smiles and Helen laughs, and comes over to do another individual.  Nancy has Dream Catcher.  We may have just had a Senior Moment.  But, Nancy is the last in the class and sneaked out there without Helen seeing her.  It is good to see her out there, we thought at one time she would never handle again, after her motorcycle accident.

She tells them to go around and set aside, but not dismissed, thank god.

Now the next group with Bart in front, with Premium Blend, Lauri Hathaway with Smoking Gun then a Junior with Hans,  Jeff with Axel, and Jerry with Elmo.  Bart takes Premium Blend, who went Select before, Michal Cheek’s dog.  If you are there, you now know to make it good the first time, it is the only chance you will get.

Out there is Lauri with Smoking Gun and Ginnie came by to bat her eyelashes at me. She heard someone lost a lash and keeps asking if I like hers. I do.  Lori is smiling and goes down and back. A man walks into a bar with a small newt on his shoulder. The bartender says, why is he so small, and the man replies, because he is my newt.

Next up is the unknown junior with great hands, and shows Hans, and she sets him up, and he is not happy, but stands there, but not good enough. Helen seems to want him to stand, and she can’t check testicles, and she pats the girl on the back and excuses him. I know she doesn’t want to do that, but she had to.  She marks the judges book and on to Jeff.

Jeff has Axel, and I have loved this dog since he was a puppy. I gave him a major in Michigan.  His true name is Guns and Roses, but they call him Axel. He was the only dog I recognized when I judged, I seldom remember dogs, but him I did. He turned into a big handsome male, and I do like him.  Jeff wants him calmed down and tells the double handler to leave him alone, and there he goes.

Now, ELMO. The pressure is on. Jerry sets him up, and he does look good. She goes over him, and Jerry fusses with his coat, and takes him down and back. I don’t know what the crowd will do, it could go either way.  Well, hell, they love him. And Rightly so.  He does look great.  Helen makes a note. And Jerry brings him to the end of the group of four and Helen tells them to go around.

Next group is led by O’Connor. Thank god for timing and he isn’t behind Elmo.

Channing is in from with O’Connor. He didn’t have much enthusiasm, but we shall see.   He is not that excited, and out he comes to the center. He still looks young to me. She looks at him from the front and she takes him down and back. I know he is clean, and that is not going to do much to hurt him.  And he takes his turn.  I doubt he will make the first cut, but he will be there for the last cut.

Now it is Phillip Moore with Night Train.  I think Elmo is going to be the one to beat so far, but that is just my opinion. Of course, it probably is right.  A good looking Bi, with lots of attitude.

Next we have Thunder with a handler I don’t know, and she set up in line, and then Helen told her to go to the middle.  She does a nice job for someone I don’t know. It is all about me.

Next up is Julie Hamasaki with Maximus.  Another dog that went Select. Paul Root is here, and still grinning.

Here goes Jamie Clutte with Dashiell Hammett and time for another exciting individuals exam. This is Carmen’s dog, and so he is doubling.  I am sure the AKC knows nothing about it. A nice animal. That’s the group, and O’Connor is leading, and looks great standing,a dn Helen comes to them, and tells them to take them around and there they go.

Next group. In front is George with Nubian Prince, then Liz with Samuari, then Trish with Rambling Man, Olivia with Here Comes Trouble, and last is Terry with Valor.

Lana is now taking over.  George goes in with Nubian Prince - this is a solid black stallion. That last comment was Dania’s, but I can’t disagree with her.  Now is Liz Oster with Samuri. He makes a nice round and the crowd seems to appreciate him.  Next is Trish Wylie with alfaro’s Rambling Man.This is a large B&T who the crowd seems to appreciate. Bil-Mar’s Here Comes Trouble is coming with Olivia.  The Crowd REALLY loves this one!  Terry has Valor and he’s very striking against the white background as he goes around.

Evan is looking for a bandaid.  I asked if the show had caused him to bleed.  Turns out no one can find one.  We have decided that if someone has an amputated leg we’ll just have to shoot them.

The next group is now up for consideration. The crowd is yelling so I had to look up.  It is Cargo making his individual.  Jack Kilgore is showing off with Outlaw.  They make a good pair.

Ralph Roberts is exchanging “Good Old Day” tales with Dania, one of the few of us old enough (or at least capable) of remembering those days! (For God’s sake, don’t tell her I said that or she’ll spill even worse dirt on me!!!).

Now Leslie is up with Zillion Dollar Guy.  She and Helen are chatting in the center.  Wouldn’t you love to know what’s going on in THAT exchange??!! Sean is nup now with Bacardi Gold who looks like he’s having entirely too good of a time at this. Donna Graham is now out there with a very handsome black dog.  Its nice to see so many lovely blacks.  I remember finishing blacks, back before black was beautiful(I think that was ummmmmmm......never mind how long ago THAT was.)

Big Dave walked by.  I’ve asked him to please stay at one end or the other as with this bright overhead lighting, the glare from his head is making it hard to see the laptop screen.  I’m only saying that because I’m up high enough that he can’t get to me to hurt me...hehehehehehe.

Scott is out there for his individual.  Some loud, blond bimbo with HUUUUUUUUGE boobs is doubling his dog.  Opps! It’s Loren.  I mean there’s a lovely, elegant blond lady, genteely alerting Scott’s dog and she has the best boobs money can buy!!

I see Basu with Man in Black and I don’t mean Flower Boy, who seems to be distinguished by his absence.  You think maybe he’s avoiding me?  Art Sinclair has Army of One who looks ready and willing for this battle.  This is another big, handsome boy and the crowd really loves this him. Mike Sherman and Marko are the last of this bunch. The black dog makes a very attractive picture going down the backside.

Bob Lindsay is working hard getting the best product he possibly can for all you poor stay-at-homers.  You’ll love them.  He really has the flavor of the show.  When you combine his tapes with Evan’s blogs, you’ll never even know you weren’t here.

I’m thinking I’ve caused enough trouble for this hour. I’ll give it back to Evan for awhile.  He must have been reading over my shoulder as he just went flying off the stand and went to sit down in a booth, so I guess you guys are stuck with me for a little longer. Keven Reynolds is here telling us all about his new business.  He seems pleased with how its going. I see Gary S.  who is still beaming about his new dog, as well he should be.  Not bad, buying a piece of one BEFORE it goes RWD at the National.  Bob Grady just came by to smile and say hi.  He was going to tell me a dirty joke, but I told him “ I wasn’t THAT kind of girl!”

Miguel is hustling from place to place with more cameras than a Kodak store.  I don’t have to admit that the stuff he has on display at his booth is pretty terrific.  What a talent he has, no matter the subject.

One a more fun subject, Dania, Helen Gleason and I went to dinner last night in Old St Charles which as an utterly charming old village where Lewis and Clark began their expedition west.  We started the evening by taking a buggy ride all through the village with a fun driver and an awesome gigantic grey Percheron named Sam. We had more fun than should be allowed with your clothes on. This was all followed by a lovely dinner at a place appropriately named The Mother in Law’s House.

Now, back to the show.  Cindy Tellefson look dapper in a purple print top with black pants and appears to have her game face on. Gail Sprock is there now with a a nice B&T boy who seems to have Gail well in hand. Gail is doing her thing as if she’s never been away from the ring. Have I mentioned all the neat vendors yet?  There is a good supply and people are spending a lot of money (unfortunately including moi). I see a lot of people with bags & boxes and new jewelry, so I think the vendors are going to be very pleased.

Paul Root just whizzed by with a smile plastered on his face from ear to ear.  I don’t think that he and Jenn as well as the Coleman’s will NOT need a plane to fly home.  Nancy Nellis is TOTALLY elegant in St. Johns.  The pictures will be so much the better with her presence.  I am so jealous that she can be such a whirling dervish of work and yet look so gorgeous.

Now Ralph and Dania are making fun of me for wearing my visor inside, but I stuck out my tongue and said that it helps with the glare from the lights, so nanarnanar! Frank Fasano just came up to ask Bob to ask Fred Migliore to please come to the announcer’s stand to retrieve his shorts. Don’t you wish we had the WHOLE story on THAT one?

OHHH!  Evan’s finally back.  I’ll let him fill you in on his adventures.  Now he’s trying to weasel out and says I have to stay here and do the play by play because his fingers are tired.  Guess you’re stuck with me awhile longer. Eric Norby just went around with Yancy.  Now I see Bill Tank who came in from the desert just to run around and make his dog look good.  I’ll have to ask Dania who he has.  ALLLLLVIIIIIINNNNN is now here with Melissa Chavez.  You just KNOW the crowd is going to go WILD for this combo!  Helen has looked like she’s been having a ball all day and I think it’s going to pick up even more when Alvin goes around.  Well, I called that one right!  The rafters are rumbling with yelling and applause. Alvin looks spectacular and Melissa  looks like the cat that got the cream. Linus, the senior veteran dog is going around and doesn’t look a day over 3.  The crowd is loving these veterans! Now Jimmy is taking around the WD.  Its hard to believe Jim doesn’t have a male special, but there he is and the dog looks great.

Now she is putting al the groups together to start pulling the dogs she’s interested in.  Thee tensions are building and the doublers are busy running into each other as they jockey for position.
Here she goes...Mechanical Bull, Sirius Park, Premium Blend, Let Freedom Ring, Guns n’ Roses,
Elmo, Rambling Man, Here Comes Trouble, Zillion Dollar Guy, Altana’s Outlaw, Bicardi Gold, Vinnie the Viper, Army of One, The Big Red Dog, Diamond’s Da Vinci, Antonio, Purple Rain, Real Deal, Good to Go, Nubian Prince, Maximus, the WD, and ALLLLLLVINNNNNNN!!
This times she’s kept 23 animals.  Axl is now moved in front with Jeff Pyle, Elmo is 2nd, Outlaw, Zillion Dollar Guy, Purpple Rain, The Big Red Dog, Diamond, Da Vinci, TR, Maestro, Alvin, Smoking Gun, Premium Blend, Mechanical Bull, The Real Deal &  Sirius Park .  Now she’s down to 15.  The noise is getting louder as the stakes get higher.  Now Premium blend moves into 11th.  ALLLVINNNN is in lucky 13th.The first 3 are going around (Axl, Elmo & Outlaw).  Now she goes a little further down the line and here goes Zillion Dollar Guy, Yankee & The Real Deal. Scott is leading the next group with Vinnie the Viper, Alex is behind him with Purple Rain and Patty charging hard with The Big Red Dog.  Now Vinnie the Viper is in front, Purple Rain is 2nd,  Axl, 3rd, Elmo 4th.  She is moving Premium Blend, Tr and Diamond Da Vinci.  Premium Blend is now being moved into 3rd behind Scott & Alex.  Here goes Alvin and the building is coming down around my ears.  Mechanical Bull, just took off behind Alvin without his leash.   Here goes Vinnie, Purple Rain, Premium Blend, Axl & Elmo.  Purple Rain just went went in front.  Yankee (let Freedom Ring) has been moved to sixth.  The Crowd is loving Purple Rain!!  Now Helen is going down the line and stopping in front of Axl & Elmo.  Premium Blend is now 2nd behind Purple Rain and the both look fantastic.  Now Elmo goes to third in front of Vinnie.  Now she moves up Joann Corbin with Diamond Da Vinci to 5th. There are still 15 animals in there. Movoing again its Purple Rain, Premium Blend, Elmo .....Never mind, Premium Blend just went in front and Elmo is 2nd.  And that’s it!!!  Premium Blend wins it!  2nd Elmo, 3rd Purple Rain, 4th Vinnie, 5th Axl, 6th Diamond DaVinci, 7thYankee, 8th The Real Deal, 9th Altana’s Outlaw, 10th Zillion Dollar Guy, 1lth The Big Red Dog, 12th  Antonio, 13th ALVINNNN, 14th Mechanical Bull & 15th Sirius Park.

Evan’s bitching about sending the results, but I thought I would take this time to tell a reallllllly long story to all of you instead.  Okay. OKAY!  Just kidding!!

Signing off from lovely Lake St Louis, Missouri.  See you all next year in Colorado!!

The One & Only ..............LANALEE!!!!

This is Evan, and had I been doing it, it would have been out half an hour earlier.  Blame Lanalee, and Dania.

Where Type Movement and Temperament come together

Juniors from the national

Now Jamie is doing the Juniors, and I see lots of young people who will be the future of our breed.  First in was the Intermediate Class, won by Cathy Hampton.  In there right now is Andrea Szabo, and Zane Brooks.  They are from the Novice Senior Class.  Jamie is talking to them both, and they are using only half the ring, and the winner Zane.  The kids hug, no one ever hugged me when I won.  Come to think of it, I don’t remember that I ever won, that might be why.

Now Open Intermediate, and first is Holly Miller, then Shannon Weiss, and the third is Tessa Farrell.  Not a lot of crowd support, but quite a bit of shock.  There they go, and I am not sure how you judge them. That is particularly a problem since I do judge Junior handlers.  Holly is the sister of Ashley who won the Bob Hamilton Trophy for two years in a row and also won the academic achievement award for the highest grade point for this year.

First is Tessa, then Shannon and third was Holly.

Now for the Open Senior class with first in the ring Elizabeth Stieferman, then Elizabeth Kasten, then   Next Niccol Thomas, Melissa Chavez, Robyn Thomas, then Ashley Miller and finally Kim Beniger.  What a great group.  They all do a great job, and again, it has to be hard to decide.  They all take direction well, I wonder if they do that well at home.  I do think it might be a better idea to give them dogs that are trained, but they all seem to have different levels of showing. They sure do a good job with what they have. Fred is talking to Fran and Joan, and Rita and Joan are laughing, so it must be something good.  Bob Freeny just came by and gave me a pocket calendar. And Juniors continue.  Reggie came and talked to me.  He doesn’t have a Special, and someone is missing out.

Mamie is looking them over, and she calls them to the center to talk to her. I suspect she is telling them what she thinks and smiles, and is talking, and they are nodding and listening.  She looks at each kid, and smiles and is still talking, and she seems to have a lot of suggestions, and she tells them who won, but we don’t have any idea.  She has the ribbons, so she hasn’t told them but first is Robyn Thomas, second is Elizabeth Kasten, third is Nicol Thomas, and fourth Ashley Miller.

Now is the first place from each class, and going for Best Junior. There are four in there, and now to see who takes it all. She moves Tessa Ferrell to the front, and is looking at the rest, and now she moves Zane in front and they go around. I guess she is giving them all a chance to be in front, and there they go, and ZANE GETS IT!  The crowd likes it.  And now, on to the dogs. How long can it take?

Where Type Movement and Temperament come together

Bitch Specials

It is early on Saturday and the excitement is in the air. The arena is starting to come alive, and a lot of people are standing around with coffee, and quietly wondering what is going to go on. I saw Jake Jahelka, and talked for a minute to DD this morning, and also Richard Franklin, (Helen’s ex) came to support Helen. I also heard that Helen’s sister flew out as well.

I didn’t make the Lister’s party, we went to Frank and Chris’s open dinner. They had a full steak dinner for anyone who wanted to come. I think there might have been as many as 300 people there, and when we left Tedi couldn’t find her purse, so we are in semi-panic mode today. Someone might return it, but if not, we haven’t any idea how you get on a plane without ID. I know there is an answer to that, but we haven’t figured it out yet.  Cyndy  is here, and she came from the airlines so maybe she knows.  No, she has no answer, so we may call the airlines.

Pat Ayres came by and now Bob is here, and Tony already came and left. They are going to present the Juniors and I wanted to be here for that. Last night they had the Junior seminar, and I think there were 20 entered or so.

Friday evening was the highlight for me, as it always is.  That is when all the champions come into the ring without any grooming and the owners and all friends stand and watch. The handlers take them around in controlled chaos.  I saw some things I wanted to see, and some I didn’t want to. I do have to say, Elmo looked fantastic, and is going to be hard to beat. It is also going to be a hard decision with Army of One, and I think Rollins, (if he is shown) might be one of the contenders. There are a couple of others, certainly Antonio and even Guns and Roses, but we shall know in a while.

I did get to talk to The Famous Linda Bastistoni and she is here early and so is Bob Ghegleri.  Flower Boy is here and said he was looking for Tedi, I guess he is probably going to ask her about her ID. Now they are starting to file in, and I can feel the tension building.  The show to this point is just a dog show, but this is where the rubber meets the road. Daphane and Tony work like crazy all day, and seem to be eveywhere.

Greg Eshette came by to say hello, and I like his new beard and mustache. Now Bob Drescher is announcing the beginning of the final day.  Dick Whalen came by and he is looking like his old self.  The presentation is starting Lew, Nancy, Laurie,  Jake, (Harlow) and the winners from obedience are in the ring.  Tony is announcing the winners and he does a good job on the microphone.  Bob announced that Tony he and I were glad to see everyone. No one knows we are here or who we are, and he said since we had the microphone, he could do what he wanted to. Good for him.  Here comes Sally and Norma, not together.

The crowd is slowly filling in.  And out go the obedience winners. And Jake has to carry the silver, and now it begins.  Bob and Ileana enter the ring, to carry the table out.  What a great job the did, not dropping it.  Leslie is here and I see Fran and Joan are here first thing, and Joan looks better every day.

NOW THE MUSIC TO START THE SHOW:

The Junior handler, and everyone stands and applauds.  They go in with a dog to make a pass and I see twelve of them, and it is great to see such a good future for out sport. Lew Nancy Godek and Nancy Nellis in the center behind them as they stack the dogs. I am concernd that they are all girls, but for one young man. I wonder why that might be.

TEDI GOT HER PURSE BACK, SO ALL IS WELL.

Some stories about the national. About six months ago, Tedi was talking to a handler from back East, and he asked who she thought would win at the national? She said Elmo, and he said, “No, I mean, after Elmo.”  Dave Fritche told me that he was standing in the ring last night as all the champions go around, and she gasped and asked who one dog was, and he said, “That’s the Grand Victor this year, Elmo”.  I told those stories to Karen this morning, just to give her more to think about.  I so enjoy messing with her mind.

Jamie came to sit for a minute, she looks fantastic, (as she always does), and says she feels great, and is ready to start over.

In the ring they come, those magnificent animals. The bitches are in the ring, and what a good looking group.  Jane Kerner is talking to Bob about how hard we work and with no recognition. So, from now on be sure to come by and talk to Bob and Tony and say how great they are.  Helen has just asked for a microphone.  Now Bart Barkley and Gary Szmchzk are in the ring and going to recognize our great friends who are no longer with us.  Gary is ringing a bell for each name, and it is silent here, and I need a break.

Helen is talking to us now.  And she is wearing a red and mostly black outfit. She is talking about how important this is for us, and how everyone is a winner in the ring.  She requests that we pay tribute and admiration for them as they leave the ring, and we applaud them when they leave.  She

HERE WE GO

The first bitch is in there with Kent with Geneva,a nd she goes around. The crowd wakes up, and now it is Georgie with Firecracker, (Peanut), and he stacks her, and now Dania is here, and Cyndy is feeding me the names. I am lucky to remember who I am by this time. I was thinking about the comment Peter made about no one complaining about the judging while he was walking around. I think it probably is because the judging was so good.  Now it is Patty with Double Trouble.  Jake Jahelka came by to say goodby, he had to head home, and it was good to see him again.

Patty stacks her up, and she poses perfectly, and very stylish bitch.  Leslie now with Who’s Your Daddy.  For some reason she is out of order, and we have no idea why.  Another typy bitch, and Helen tells her to take her down and back.  Leslie is giving directions to her friends outside th ring, and she has her stand free.  Helen gives a direction and off she goes.  Helen has a note pad and pen, and makes a notation, and watches her take a pass.

Now it’s Alex with Angelina, and she stands fine for the loose lead. Bill Tank just came by,a nd the seats are full and the bleachers are about half full, so there is plenty of room. Mike Cheeks came by, and Helen gives Alex some directions and off he goes.

Helen is in black slacks, and a top that is almost black but some red, and she looks good.  And she makes a note. She must have a system, because she is not writing anything.  Gail Hardcastle came by to say hello.

Helen tells them to take these five around one at a time and stop on the other side, and she now tells the rest of them to go, but she is spacing them about a quarter of the ring, and she watches each of the.  She makes a mark and now the next five, and Helen marks something as she looks at them. I think she is writing down the numbers.

She tells them to go around, and it is Julie, Liz, Trish, The Guz Steve Granger.  Julie is with Cuz I Can, Tough Decision bred to Cuz I Want to.  Ralph just got here and is talking to Jimmy, and they are together talking about old times.

Now it is Liz with True Calling, a Snake daughter, and she takes her first pass.  Up next is Tish Wylie with Brandy, and a Dallas daughter. Cyndy is doing a good job feeding me information, but I can’t listen to everyone, so I might be making mistakes, (shut up Paul) and so don’t depend on anything you read here.

Helen gives Tish some directions and Tish laughs and goes down and back. Fred goes by and looks like a long night on a short morning.  Tish does it again. Helen makes a note, and sends her around.  This bitch was high select last year.

The Guz has Tanqueray and good sable, and a bitch I know well. He sets a dog or bitch up better than any other person I have ever seen. Bill Lenord goes by and ignores us all.  Jerry is resplendent in tan slacks and a blue blazer. Lauren came by and people like his bitch.

There goes Steve Granger with Sassy, a GQ daughter.  She is a very dark black and tan.  The individual is going on, and Helen is giving him directions.  You know, Steve is a good handler, and he adjusts the lead, and off he goes. Helen is starting to relax.

That’s the group, and they stack and Helen looks them over, and tells them to go one at a time, but she wants to space them, so she will tell each one when to go. She gives a big smile, and off goes Julie.

The next group comes in and it is Scottie, then Art, Gail (MY HERO) and Fred and Lori. There they go, and I like Art’s bitch, but what do I know?  It is so good to see Gail in there again, we used to handle together, how come she is still there and I am not?

First is Scottie with Madison Avenue, who has been select before.   The crowd likes her, of course.

At the Lister’s party, Louie won three packs of Mary Kay, so everyone is smelling him today.

They raised $800 for rescue, and it was a good party, so I am told.

Now with Art is Start The Commotion, who was Best Opposite in Maturity, and has been burning up the shows in California. It is so good to see Art, this is the first national since Linda died, and I know it is hard for him. The last time she was here, at a national, it was here in Missouri. Michael Cheeks is here to give us all a hard time. Jim Spicer came by to pick up his other glove. We work so hard to unite people with lost items.

Now Gail goes out with Ariel, and Helen is grinning and telling Gail what to do. Bob is with his white suit, and a purple tie.  Gail goes down and back and she looks like she did thirty years ago. I have had breakfast with her a couple of mornings, and she seems just like she always did, and there she goes, running like a youngster. I am so proud of her. Kim Schooly is here now, talking to us. Gloria came by to kibitz for a bit.

Now it is Fred with Worth It owned by Emily and Frank DeBem.  My color commentator is Bob who seems to know all sorts of weird facts.  We overheard yesterday Ralph tell Helen that for every 30 seconds you add to each dog, makes an hour in your judging.  A good point. There goes Fred, and the crowd likes that one.

Now we have Lorie with Jade.  A Dallas daughter, bred John and Christine Gibbons, our Canadian photographer.  Ken Tank came by and waved.  The crowd is sitting waiting for the real stuff, the cuts, to begin.  And down and back goes Jade.  Where we are sitting is in the center of the arena, and about five feet up, and we have the best seats in the house. Everyone comes by here at one time or another.  There goes Lorie.

Dave Coleman is here, and seems intent, and is doubling his Maturity winner. Helen makes a note, looks them over from front to back and walks to the back and tells them to take them around, but to space them, and she will tell them when to go.  There they go, and I keep watching Gail.

Helen watches them front to back and gives each a good look. She is moving right along, and here is the next group, with Feeling luck, then Greg, Jack, Jeff and Christi.  Now the first bitch with the unknown handler, (no, he doesn’t have a bag over his head, but with all the years here in the booth, no one knows how he is.  Bob, the color guy here said it is Fred Freeman. But, he is doing a good job.  Greg is up with Loving And Freedom.  Helen is doing a good loose lead test and so far, everyone is doing well.

Jack is now in the center with Show Boat, a Paper Chase daughter.  She looks good.

It is Jeff now with Sagebrush.  And she is not happy about her teeth being looked at.  She is owned by John and Terry Ayotte.  A very nice sable,   Helen has him take her around and Jeff give directions to someone not double handling, outside the ring. Double handling is not allowed, as we all know.

The crowd likes her, and it is easy tosee why. She does present a very pretty picture against the white wall.

Christy comes in with Bearis Hilton, owned by the every popular Frasanos.  Out of Danny Boy, who was bred by Nancy Harper. Helen takes some time to look her over, and tells Christy to take her down and back.

Now the next group.  Diane in front, Cindi, then Lourie, Channing, and a very pretty blond girl, and Joanne in the back. Cindy has her phone on, and she needs to understand that at this level of the Blog, she can’t be taking phone calls.  Diane has Calypso, and goes out for the individuals. And now a pass.

Cindy with Jenny From The Block, and another Elmo daughter.  She is a very dark bitch and Cindy has a purple smock.  I remember when she finished, and I watched her campaign.  Good friends and a nice bitch.

This is Dania taking over for Evan while he is socializing for a while.  Next up is Laurie with Happyanunoit.  She was number two Select, and I saw her a few weeks ago, and she looked just terrific. She is so pretty set up, and moves great. She might be one of the top Selects this year.  Laurie tell Ann to move, she was standing right here, and YES, that is a crowd favorite. What a bitch!  She hasn’t lost a step, and if she keeps that up, she is going to be the one.

Channing has Amanda, a Dallas daughter.  And now we have a young blonde girl (lots of speculation in our midst as to who she is and what is her name) - and she has Hadori’s When Its Love.    Then comes Joanne Corbin with You Ain’t Seeing Nothing of Eden - a move up from the Am Bred class - and this is the end of this group.  Well.... Cindy just found the mystery blonde girl’s name and she is Elizabeth Steifferman - the talented junior. Lots of applause as this group takes the final lap.

Somehow, the first group is back but we have not seeing the other half of the bitches - I wonder what happened.  We are confused. Helen takes Kent in for a temperament test and an individual exam.  And one of the stewards came in and is talking to the judge.  Helen goes back and is huddled with the handlers and then dismisses the group.  It was a mistake.  We seem to have a bit of confusion and now the rest of the group comes into the ring now and it is in the right sequence.  Helen takes the microphone and addresses the audience commenting what a nice group of bitches.

First bitch from this group is Solana’s Into the Fire with Eric Norby.  Now we have Norberg’s Sparkles Plenty with Phillip Moore handling.  Next is Shawn Conboy with Fellsway Shania Twain.  We hear applauses - everyone has a favorite.  Next is Olivia with Ekolan’s EJM Athena v Cypress - Helen takes her time making sure the bitch is not being doubled for the temperament test - all is well...  It is a very typey bitch and it belongs to my good friend Dr. King.  Next is Sergio with Castlehill’s Tuff Cookie owned by Patty Korsch - what a pretty grey sable - I loved her mother, Guido.  This is the end of the individuals for this group and Helen takes them around for a lap around the ring.

Now we have the next group lead by Morris Bartucci  with C.T. Dream A Lil Dream.  Next is Bill Tank with Windy Acres Oh My.  Then it is Kaleef’s All About Eve owned by James and Sherree Moses with Ken Tank (now.... that is an East Coast/West Coast partnership).  Next is Kaleef’s Jezabel with Terri Hower - another Dallas daughter.  Now is Chrstine Szparaga (sp?) with Janry’s Ayla Aura of Ivana.  Last one in this group is Tiffany with Caralon Derouse Bad to the Bone.  The group is now all set and looking pretty and Helen is looking.  As with the other group, she takes them around all together as a group.

Next group is led by Joelle’s Take Another Look with Ashley Douglas with Joelle‘s Take Another Look.  Then Kaiser Lock-N-Load with Melissa Chavez.  It is wonderful to see the young people involved in the sport -we need them - they are the FUTURE.  And now we have Lenny - one of the young ones - he has Jantar’s Chyna Lake.  Cindy brought me a chicken salad sandwich (huuhmmmmm - I am hungry - I am ALWAYS hungry).  Ohhh...nooo... one of my favorites is not here - Hayshills Tiramisu (bummer !!!).  Next is Jezra’s I knew if Scherzar with Ben.  And then Jamie Klute with Top Brass Just-A-Vision.

Now we have what I think is the last group.  Leading the group is Marquis Blonde Bombshell with Kelly Savala and this is a favorite of the crowd - lots of applause as she goes around.  Next is Mike Sherman with Marquis Here I am v Surigo - again lots of applause.  Now we have in the ring Trafalgar’s Pacific Chai with Bill Basu - one of her puppies when bred to Rollins won the 6-9 Puppy dog class two days ago.  Now we have a move up - Norhaus Better Be Worth it.  Then the Veteran Bitch (7-9 yrs old) Joelle’s Beatrice v Diamond - we don’t know the handler but Evan is speculating that it is an European handler - I think his reasoning is flawed.  Now we have the OTHER Veteran Bitch (9-11 yrs) Dusky Sally Zu Apfelsine - nice to see the ol’ gal going around the ring. She is a solid black.  Evan asked me if she was dyed.... I think he has a sick sense of humor.   Then comes the WB, Shadyrock’s Dancing Doll with Nick Fedorow - lots of applause.  The group takes that group together.  It is now 10:45am and we have completed the individuals for all bitches.

The first half of the bitches are now back in the ring.  Helen pulled out Firecracker, Happyunowit , Amanda, When it is Love, Start the Commotion, Tuff Cookie, Jezebel, Lock-N-Load, Here I am.  Now Helen is walking back and forth trying to decide who else - looking at her notes, looking back again and moving to the front.  Helen dismissed he rest of the dogs.   This was one BIG CUT. I am soooo surprised - no second chance for the dogs dismissed..  The crowd is stunned.

And now there are only eleven left in the ring.  You have better looked good on that first round.  She brings all the bitches to the middle of the ring and has them lined up - looks like she gave this some thought and decided to be “decisive’ - she moved Happyunit to the front, followed by Tuff Cookie, Here I am and Jezebel next.  She moves Start the Commotion into sixth place behind Jezebel.  The ring steward is standing with Helen and talking. And Helen is looking at the group carefully.  Here they go together taking a lap.  She is looking over and moves Start the Commotion one up to fifth place.  Helen looks and ask the last six to stand by the wall and she looks at the first five and wants to see them go around.  There goes Lori with Happy.  Happy looks great - easy moving.  Helen keeps looking and everyone is set up looking beautifully and then she moves Tuff Cookie in front and is looking at Start the Commotion who is posed like a statue.  Moves Jezebel with Terry Howard into third.  There they go.... Sergio is leading with Tuff Cookie.  She puts those five aside and brought the last six that were sitting by the wall.  Helen let the last one go, Lock-N-Load left the ring.  Helen now has ten left in the ring.  She has them set up and one end of the room and takes Sinclair with Start the Commotion to third.
Here they go with Sergio leading with Cookie, followed by Happyunoit.  AND THAT IS IT !!!!!! Fastest judging I have ever seen.    Tuff Cookie is the Gvx
Here is the order:
#604- Gvx Exc. Ch. Castlehills Tuff Cookie
#2-595 - Exc. Ch. Jagan’s Happyunoit
#3-584 - Exc. Ch. Ch. Riverdell’s Sart the Commotion
#4-574 - Ch. Kaleef’s Geneva Aeval-Achtung
#5-608 - Ch. Kaleef’s Jezebel
#6-624 - Exc. Ch. Marquis Here I am v Surigo
#7-589 - Ch. Whiteside’s Love and Freedom
#8-583 - Ch. Jerrwen’s Madison Avenue
#9-587 - Ch. Kaleef’s Jade of Tamar
#10-594 - Exc. Ch. Mariner’s Jenny from the Block

And now - Dania signs off......

Best Puppy

Now for Best Puppy, and Helen is in the building. Actually she has been here, and she has worn three outfits that I have seen, and they all were red and black. She has a red jacket, and black slacks and blouse. She looks like she is rested and ready to judge. She is having a discussion with the photographer and Bob about where they should go, and off Bob goes to get eh entries.

And in they come the first one with Jerry Guzman, the second with Bil Basu, the Liz Osler and finally Laurie Bealau.  I love that love that last one, come to think of it, they are all very nice puppies.  Evidently they figured it out, and they all get to compete.

The puppies don’t seem that enthusiastic, overdone by the people watching them.  Boy these are nice puppies. I guess Dan and Jamie did a good job.  Helen goes over now to look at the last one, and does a loose lead temperament test. The puppies all love her, no problem, and Laurie sets her up.  And, now takes her around.

The crowd doesn’t seem to be leaving, but again, it is only three, so it looks like an early evening, and we need it. I am still worn out from the trial, but starting to get my rest, while typing this stuff.  I still don’t know what happened to the one class.

I could go with any of them. I do have my favorite, and when Helen tells me who it is, I will post it.

She looks at them and tells the two males to go in front and take them all around.  I see that Jerry is having a bit of trouble gettting him to settle down, but now he looks fanstastic.  They all look good, but laurie has a fantastic little puppy, and YES, she goes to second.  It is Jerry and Lauri, and in front is Make My Day, and behind him is Happsylsitall.  Great looking puppies, and they go around and Helen is watching and looking and she stops them.  She asks that they be set up and bring the other two with them. Off they go, and Helen watches them all, and she walks over and that’s the way it goes, the BEST PUPPY IS MAKE MY DAY AND BEST OPPOSITE PUPPY IS HAPPYSLSITSTILL.

Now, on to the parties. Thanks for letting me post to you.

Older old Dogs

Now the wait for the old fart dogs.  And then Best Puppy. And finally the day ends.  Jane Kerner came by with Jeff Mobeus to let me know they liked what George looked like.  I guess I didn’t screw up and I didn’t fall.

Now with the old guys. In dog years, I am older than they are. Paul Root just came by in response to a call for Rita Sandell. I know Rita Sandell, Paul, and you sir, are no Rita Sandell.  There go the old guys, and the dogs too.

Al Martin is in there, and doing a good job. I see Tiffany, Patty Breau, (I think) and Christina, (who is in every class).  It is good to be young, some times.  I have a copy of the new Review, and it is a good one.  You will enjoy it. Bill Leonard is here talking to Bob, and Pam O’Dell is siting and talking to Sally Holcom.   Karen Wagner has a white suit, as did I, when I showed. I retired the suit to Channing Sheets. He will do much better with it than I did. It is off white linin, and he should enjoy it. Amazingly enough, it fits him better than me.

And off they go, and they all look good.  They are cutting the ring, but I think it might be a function of the handlers, not the dogs.  In Front is Ch Langlitz-Appelsine Lina Fire. And I guess that is it, I missed the call.  It is first Ch Langlitz-Apfelsine Lina Fire, second is Ch Baker-Ryshers Sunny Boy, third is Ch Eko-Lan’s harley D. Mervern and fourth is Ch Winaki’s Hanzel Apfelshine.

It is a shame that they have to grow old, and that we do as well.  But, such is life.

There is some controversy since the 9-12 puppy bitch went reserve, but still has to go in for Best Puppy since it is a different judge. They are working it out, and I will let you know what happens.

Where Type Movement and Temperament come together

Veteran's youngsters

It’s time to start fussing.  I found out that O’Connor is right behind Elmo, and in front of Elmo is Alex, and so it is going to be a worry evening. I hope Tedi makes some dinner plans that are fun, because tomorrow is going to be a long day.  I still don’t have stuff for the office staff, maybe I will go see Helen, and buy $2.00 pens that don’t work.

It is not very loud in here now, it feels like the show is over. Maybe the Veteran Dogs will sice it up. Alvin is in there, and that should be a crowd pleaser.  He looked fantastic the last time I saw him, about two years ago. I see he is eight, and I suspect he still looks top quality, but I will know in a minute.  In they come.

Pat Ayres told me that I just struck a blow for us old guys.

Jamie looks them over, and she has them at the far side of the ring again.  There are six in there, and tells them to take a trip around the ring.  It’s the young old ones.  ALLLLVIIIIIN!  And the crowd likes him.  Now for the thrilling individuals.  We are all excited to watch. Paula just came by and Tony is leaving and I get the microphone. Always a dangerous thing. I see Eric talking to Dave Fritche, who was standing with Flower Boy, and Alicia is standing off to the side trying to find a way to spend all her money.  I just saw Dave Edwards, and he had to remind me of who he was.  Candace came to talk to us, and Rita is going by laughing as usual.  There goes Lenny, and he stopped smoking and runs like he used to. I did sit over and hug Axel.  He sure did develop well.

I have seen Liz Leshhorn, and everyone seems to like the Red Book. She took it over last year and her first edition is top quality.  I see karen Taylor talking to Sue Witmer, and Bob Ghegleri talking to Lelie, and Cappy and Gloria stopped to congratulate me on not falling down.  Damning with faint praise. Alicia came to join us, and she sure us cute, in a red top and jeans.  THERE GOES ALVIN, AND THE CROWD JUST WOKE UP! Now up to the rest.

ALVIN GOES TO THE FRONT AND THE CROWD GOES WILD. There they go and YES.

First is Alvin, second is Ch Adelhound’s Class Act, third is Ch Todor Puilgrim No Regrets and Fourth is Ch Shadyrock’s Comosh Chimfuga.  Everyone is leaving, and I can’t stop the tears. It is not good for my manly image. The crowd started to chant ALVIN, ALVIN. Everyone is smiling.  On to the old old dogs.

Older Veteran Bitches

Now on to the older Veteran Bitches.  This is 9 to 11 years, and I remember one of the presentation class was 13.  And looked good.  The first one is Dusky Sally Zu, then Cimarron’s Kracklin Rosie, Ch Covy-Tucker Hill’s Queen of Hearts, and Ch Mac Dan’s Tagg.  Dave Rinke just came by to tell me I did a great job with Patriot, and that means a lot to me.  So, I took a break, and reflected on how much I love to handle.  I miss it.
There they go, and it’s Dan’s last class of the National, except puppies, and he stops them, and looks them over.  He back brushes the first one, a black check the tail on the second and third, and touches the wither on the last one. I guess he is telling us what he thinks.

That’s the way it is first is Dusky Sally Zu Afelsne, second is Ch. Covy-Tucker Hill’s Queen of Hearts and third is Ch Cimirron’s Kracklin’ Rose and fourth is Ch Mac Dan’s Tagg.  I just saw Semor Amster, and I haven’t seen him in years.  Sam Colven came by to pick up a ribbon, and I see Flower Boy talking to Gary and Bob is getting frisky, and might need some drugs.

Veteran Bitch

People are milling about, and the excitement s over.  Ralph is sitting with Dania, myself, Bob and Tony.  I did get to say hello to Scottie, and that was fun.  Suzzy Witmer was sitting in front of us for a while, and there goes Jamie with Lou. She even has a purse to match her outfit. I guess she is going to take pictures, and then the veterans.  I see Jen Root and Cheryll Broket, Sheryll is working like crazy, and there are no dogs in there. Interesting.

The Veteran Bitch Joelle’s Beatrice V Diamond was first, second was Bee Gee’Mudslide, third was Ch Ponca Hill’s Christy Binkley and fourth Ch Andaka-Zederlands This Kiss.

Winner's Dog

Jamie is there looking at the class winners, it is Mike, Reggie, Liz, Alex, George, The Guz, and Bill Basu.  Jamie has them set up on the other side of the ring, (I don’t know why), and it is hard to see them, but I have help from Dania.  There they go, Open on down.  If you want to know what good judging looks like just look at this class.  I like the American Bred Dog best at this point, but the 12 to 18 is a good one. She sets the puppies aside, (so much for that dream) and goes to Mike in front to talk to him, And she stands back, and there they go, just the first two.  Mike and Reggie together again. I think she is looking more at Reggie, and now Jamie has her hands behind her back and they come to the end of the line. She watches them, and leaves them like that, and now she wants the other three to look at, and they take off, and are all doing something different, the first is all the way and the second with Alex is going slow, and George cut the ring, and then went to the outside, and the first one is done, and then Alex, a half a ring behind comes up and then Georgie, who Jamie seems to like.  Jamie pulls George and puts him in third, and he could go all the way.  She is looking at the firsst one, and puts her hand on the shoulder, and the same for the next two. The crowd is clearly behind the 12-18 dog, and George directs the double handler, and there they go, and she is looking hard at all three and seems to favor the third one, and she walks the ring, and looks,a nd walks and has her hands behind and gives it to Mike with Marquis’ Stealing the Show.

Bob put up the sire of that dog, with his tail in the air.  And I will never let him forget it.

N ow, on to veterens.

What a way to go

WOW!  WHAT A TRIP.  I got to go in with George, and take him around for the Presentation class.  I was the last one in, of 30, so I got to show off with the dog.  Then we lined up, and turned the other way, and I got to lead the class for another trip. I didn't fall, George, (Patriot) looked great, and I didn't fall, what a treat, and what a memory.

WINNER' BITCH  SHADYROCK DANCING DOLL.   From the Open Class.  Reserve winner's bitch was 9-12 puppy class Signature's Miami V Kridler.

Between Dania's accent and my spelling you are lucky to get any news with the ability to read it.

Where Type Movement and Temperament come together

Open Dogs

Dave Firtche just got here, and said to say he is handsome, young and vibrant, and one out of three isn’t bad.  I am going to ask Dania to discribe what Janie is wearing.  I would say it is a pants suit, but some of the jacket reaches the shoes, and it is black and whileit looks great, the top from the hips down is split into four panels, and yet, there seems to be a separate jacket, that ends at the hips, so I am confused.  ( According to Dania)  She has pants, and like a dress that is divided in four pieces and a jacket and very fluid and gauzy, very elegant.   From my view point, she looks fantastic, whatever it is. I also think it must have cost a fortune.

She sends six out, and keeps eight in, and there is Ken Tank with Broken Arrow, The Guz with Brazos, Diane with Harley, a mystery handler with Carribian Studd, Reggie with Escalade, another who remains nameless Lennie with Studd and Olivia with Armegeddon.  Everyone wants to know the schedule and no one knows what is the schedule, including me.  The Guz is out there now, and Jamie is doing the individual.  And there he goes, and the crowd loves Brazos, and it is clear why. Diane is out there now.  Paula came by to get her Dual Award button, and Tony has them.  Whirlway Oklahoma is next.  And now it is Reggie with Escalade - big hunky sable dog.  Now it is Lenny with Caribbean Stud and Lenny is putting his fingers to his mouth and shhhin the owners. I loooove Jamie’s outfit (this is Dania)- very elegant, black, sort and flowing - it has panels that allow her lots of freedom to bend and examine the dogs while maintaining the look of  a long dressy skirt when standing.  Of course it does help that she is thin, willowy and very classy.

I’M BACK.  It’s Evan again, sorry.  There they go with Ken in front, and then the Guz, Diane. I don’t think anything happened, she moved Lenny to third and Oliva to fourth.  And Diane is in BOD.  And she takes the last three around, and they don’t look like happy campers, but trying to catch Jamies eye. And YEA  Reggie moves to Best of Dump, and the other two go home.  Reggie has a sable, and is working his heart out.  And they go out and the second group comes in.

There are eight of them led by Christina with U Wish For, then Jeff with Odissey, Mike with Still In The Show, Kent with Bugsey Siegle, Greg with Belle Plaine, Leslie with Crusader, then Tiffany with Ellesar and Alex with O’Thyme. Nancy Harper is here to get some information.

I don’t want to dwell on it, but whatever it is called that Jamie is wearing, it is perfect for the dog show, and would also work for a formal dinner.  And, it looks comfortable. No one has mentioned but it has sparkles down the side, and I think it might be a jacket and a coat, but what do I know?  I am but a man.

Now Christina is out there for the individual, and now the exciting Down and Back. The One and Only is here with championship pins all over her. It looks like some very successful breeder threw up on her outfit.  She does look good, however.  Gail Hardcastle came by, and now Mike is in the ring doing the individuals.  Linda Bankhead is walking by, and either I am shrinking or she is getting taller and better looking.  Mike has a very handsome dog, and what a great head.  The crowd does like him, and he moves well. That might be the dog to beat in this group.  Kent’s turn to show how good he can go down and back. I live for this part of the show. Candy Espee is here, and I didn’t recognize her with the new hair color, it is natural, I am sure, and she was handling yesterday, I think, but not in the ring today.  I did talk for just a minute to Bob Eaton, but he thinks I am too liberal to spend too much time with.  He is probably right.  Bob Freeny and Richard Sotile are here to figure out what we are going to do with time.  Sally is here, and she is having problems with some credit cards.  Her stuff is so top quality and she is all but sold out.  I am pleased to see that, Sally has let me remain her friend for years.

Leslie is out there, and has her dog stand on a loose lead. The dog not only doesn’t care, but ignores what is going one. A very good looking dog, and great proportions.  Fully mature, and looks like a winner.  I haven’t seen many of these dogs before, and so it is fun to see them for the first time.  I did see Tom Langlitz yesterday, but not today. I did see Scootie yesterday but haven’t found her today, and I will try to find her.  Pam Stoesser came by as did Gary Szymzyk, and Jamie continues to do the individuals. Norma is here, and says everything has to be perfect.

She is done with the individuals, and she puts Jeff in front, them Mikey, Kent and Alex. She now has the last three go around, Christine, Greg, and Tiffany. Helen Gleeson just came by.  And Jamie looks at them and walks over to them, and talks to Tiffany and Tiffany listens and moves to sixth, (I know she is thrilled) and the last two get to take a rest, and head out of the ring.  Now there are six, and there they go, and in the lead is Lenny then Mike, Kent, Leslie, Alex and Tiffany, and they are starting to cut the ring, and it seems reasonable. Jamie goes over to the second one, and puts Mike in front, then Kent, Jeff, Leslie, Alex, and now Tiffany in the rear, and there they go, it’s Mike, Kent, Jeff, and Leslie holding back and Alex, and Tiffany, and she is looking over them and watching Alex, and looks again and walks over, and calls in her other group.  Jamie walks to the front, and looks at the other group, and tells them to take a lap, and off they go, with Ken, The Guz, another Olivia and Reggie at the end.  Jamie watches them closely, and walks over towards the last few and they run past her. She can’t excuse what she can’t catch.

Jamie now tells Lenny to join the group, and sets the other four aside, and looks at the group with Mike in the lead.  Now they take off, maybe for the last time, and it is Mike in front, Kent, Jeff, Leslie Lenny and Tiffany and Leslie gives her a full lead, and snaps it, and the dogs all look good.

Now Jamie goes to the four standing off to the side, and tells them that she loves them, but not today, and they get to go off and dream about the Specials class.  Off they go, without Leslie and lenny, but with Mike trying for all he has, then Kent wanting to move up and she walks towards Alex, and she brings the other three into the end, and Leslie looks absolutely thrilled to be in fifth, but she drops the lead and Alex tries to hold onto fourth. Jamie approaches them, and she walks with power, and moves Leslie up to fourth, and puts Kent in front. It isn’t over until the fat lady sings. And, Lennie goes to BOD.   She is walking down the line and puts her hands behind her, moves to the center of the ring, and off they go, with Kent in front, Jamie walks towards them, they are all trying as hard as they can and Jamie turns and looks and NO, they stop and she walks towards her group, and she looks at the end ans says something to Tiffany, and walks to the front, and move Mike back in front. The crowd loves it and OFF THEY GO, and the crowd is into it and THAT’S IT!  First is Marquis’ Stealin The Show, second is Signature’s Bugsy Siegel, third is Breal’s Homer’s Oddysey, and fourth is Eagle Valley’s Crusader.  Now for some other stuff and then on to the Parade of those who can’t get any attention any other way.

Open Bitches

It is going to be another great day.  We got here early and watched as the arena filled.  Flower Boy is here so it should be fun.  The Open Bitches are going into the ring. I see Ricky and just said hello to Karen Taylor.  I see that O’Connor is going into the Special class right behind Elmo. Timing is everything. I get to show George in the Presentation Class Today, and I am stocked.

There are 15 in there, and he is keeping eight to work with.  I see Alex talking on the phone, and Also I see that Marilyn is watching Dan who is in a red jacket with black pants, the club colors.  Marilyn told me yesterday that Dan looked cute in there. I wouldn’t have used that phrase, but he is doing a good job.  He looks good doing it too.

There they go.  In front is Mike, then Lori, third is Greg and then Reggie, Diane, Jeff and two handlers whose names I know but can’t remember. The longer I do this stuff, the less names I am going to remember. I can see it coming. I also see I missed the second place handler, Christina, and she is also in red and black. We have the full staff here now, Tony, Bob and myself. We do make a team, and I am not sure it is safe here. I do have to go buying today, and will find stuff for the office staff.  Maybe I will just buy two dollar pens from Rescue.  Norma is here today and her house is coming around, and I did talk to Carmen yesterday for a minute. He is busy, and seemed to be in a good mood. I hope not too many people are attacking him over AKC stuff.

I did lose all that I said yesterday during the American Bred Dog Class, so I may repeat myself. I did see Scootie, and most of the day I was talking to Helen and Ralph Roberts who were sitting with us in the booth. Helen talked about a picture she has of herself at Ralph’s home with her arm around Ulk.  It is amazing that they had cameras then.

Helen is here each day, and trying not to get too involved, and she is ready. Fran and Joan just came in, and it is good to see Joan looking so well.  Bob Freeny came by and waved, and He has been here every day. I did have breakfast with Gail Sprock and she seems just like she always does, and has as sharp a sense of humor as always. I think the reports of her problems are probably true, but she is doing well,, and it made me feel a lot better to see that.  Now Tiffany is walking by and there goes Reggie with his bitch for the individual.

I did say how pleased I was to see Reggie win the American Bred Dog class, he lead most of the class and did a great job.  He had a dog that Bob and I noticed when he first went in, and he never made a bad step, and deserved the class. I saw Jamie at the end of the day, with Sue and Kim, and she still had a smile. This would be a lot of hard work to judge for three days, and I doubt I could do it.  More people here today, even this early. Gail Hardcastle is here, and she has been working every day. They must have just let her out. I see Carlos Navara, and he and I did talk yesterday.

Iza is here with some stuff at a booth, and maybe that is where I will go to spend my money. But Sally has all her stuff too, and it is top quality, but maybe too good for my staff. I do have a reputation for cheap I need to protect.

I feel badly about losing all the American Bred Dog class, mainly because all of my best writing was done in that post. I had solved the crisis in Iraq, and figured out how to save all the children of the world. If I have time, I will try to remember what my solutions were.

Libby is here today, and I did say a bit to her earlier.

Dan moved Jeff to the front, the only one he moved in this class.  The bitch is Dancing Doll, and did take a nice pass.  I see that the booths are open, so maybe it might be a good time to do some shopping, so I will return in a bit.   I hate being Jewish. I can’t bring myself to spend $25.00 for a T-shirt. Now I don’t know what to do.

I did get to see Jane Kerner and Pam Stoesser, (I know I didn’t spell that right, but at this point, who cares?) and also got to hug Diane Brown. So, my national is complete.  I saw Frank Fasano, and he is the only person smart enough to be wearing gloves. It is a bit cold.

Bill Basu is in there with his black bitch and the crowd loves her.  Erin came by and she and Nancy work so hard all national, but the amazing thing is that they do it with a smile on their face. Eric is out in the ring, and letting his bitch go out on a loose lead for the individual.  Everyone is doing it, and there is very little temperament problems. I only saw a few, and that was in the young dogs.  I see Jerry Guzman is entertaining the crowd, and the judging is not holding out attention at this time.  Maybe I will go buy a heater for our feet for tomorrow. Now Dania has joined us, so my life is complete.

Dan is working on his second group and doing some arranging. He has them take off, in the lead is Eric, (but this is the end of the group, so not that exciting) and George is in front of the keepers, and then Patty, Tiffany and Bill Basu.  Dan talks to the steward, and brings in the rest of them.  He has them arranged, and he has now eight left in the ring.  The Guz is here and looking for some candy, and now Dan is pointing, and in Front is Jeff, then George, patty, and Diane. Dan asks the rest to take a lap, and that is not a group with a lot of smiles.  Mike, Lori, Bill and Tiffany, and Dan has his hands behind his back, goes to the front of the Dumps, and looks back and tells them all to stand back and goes over to his first four.  And there they go, in front is Jeff and Dancing Doll, then George with Cazadora, and then Patty with Mega Million and Diane with All American Girl. Dan is looking at Jeff and asks him to go down and back, and he does so. He takes directions well. The crowd likes her.  Dan stands and looks at her standing and goes over her tail.  He now wants George to Come and Go with Cazadora, some applause, but not as much. She is pretty, and Dan wants to see the first two together,a nd so he goes to the center of the ring, and stands, and tells them to go, and off they go. Two very very pretty bitches.  It is a big ring, and That is the Way it is!  First is Shadyrock’s Dancing Doll, Second is Acara’s Cazadora, third is Sunrize Meg-A-Million V Jeri-Lan and fourth is Sher-Lo’s All American Doll.

Dania is helping me with what is going on, and so it should make more sense.  Now, on to the Dogs.  More to come.

My Bad

I can't find the American Bred Dog class. I know I typed a lot and I seem to have lost it. First was Reggie with Von Rech Dances With Eagles and second was Fircrest heart of Gold Sunrise, third was Karizma's Nicaragua, and forth was Greenwood's Achilles.  I remember typing those names, and also a bit of the normal nonsense I do. I am sorry it seems to be lost in my machine somewhere.

I have finished the List, resent it to those who asked, and now for some sleep, tomorrow is another day.

I will try not to screw up again.

Where Type Movement and Temperament come together

American Bred Dogs

John Ayotte tried to make my text that goes through Zoe to the List to not be garbled. Evidently he can’t change what I am doing, so I am posting it both to the List and the Blog. It only takes me a minute, and takes away the challenge of reading it off the List. I do notice it is going directly to the Blog as soon as I post it, so we should thank Zoe for all the hard work to make it available.

I was talking to Terry Kriedler, and she is talking to me about dogs. Tammi has a new hair cut, and has Medusa with her, and Rick is hugging her now. Tami also has Bumble Bee, and the two dogs are up here in the booth with us.  Tedi is talking to Martha Rinke, I just know they are talking about me.   Boy, the crowd likes the bitch that just went around, it is Ruubasse.  Tammi is here and talking about her condition.  Karen Taylor came by for a howdy, and everyone is sitting quietly waiting for the fun to begin.  I see Kathy Potter and she is smiling os either she doesn’t have a bitch in, or she looks good. I doe see George in the center of the ring.  Ed Barrit just said hello to Bob Ghegleri, and Bob is nervous, Show Off is in the ring. I am a big fan of that bitch, even if she is a George daughter.  We finally got hold of Jack Newton.  He is a happy camper.

They are in the ring doing the judging thing while the rest of us are talking.  They ahve opened the ring, and it is a long trip around it.  Now the second group, and Dan pulls Diane Brown and puts her in third, and Ken Tank with Showoff is in front. I do like that bitch. Dan takes them around and now he wants  his other group, with George in front.  There they go, and I doubt any of those bitches will beat Showoff, but the one Georgie has is nice, and Dan sends them out.  Cool.  I have to admit I want Showoff to win, just to watch Bob go nuts.  Dan sends that group to stand off to the side, and brings in the next group.  Great!

The next group comes in, and it is a group of seven with Lorry in front, then Kent, Patty, Jeff, Scottie, Bill Tank and Mike, with a few others.  Art Sinclair and Tedi are here laughing about some of the dogs and how they are nuts, (not spooky) just funny.  Cappy came by and she found Gloria’s catalog, evidently it was missing.

More of the same, judging and now Jeff is in the center. I was told he had fallen in the next door area, and sprained his ankle. He looks find, and I hope he is.  He has Scheherazade.  I see Rita taling to The Guz, and Jerry is sitting in front of us, with his number still on.  Tedi is talking to Bob Eaton and they are laughing again, as is Big Dave. They seem to be having more fun than Tony and I sitting in the booth. I hear Rita laughing, that is hard to miss.

Jeff is running just fine, so I guess he is OK.  Dan is looking over his group and looking at Jeff’s bitch, and he puts him behind Laurry.  (No matter what I do, I can’t spell that name. Scottie is out there iwth Southern Sky, about in the middle of the class.  A long way to go, and a short time to get there.

Dan moves Mike to second, and Laurie is still in front. (Spell check let me get by with that spelling).  I love Kent’s bitch, and he is currently in fourth, and now fifth as he moves Scottie in fourth. It is Laurie, Mike, Jeff, Scott, and Kent, and some other people.  He sets the first four aside, and sends the rest around with Kent in front.  It is a bit ring and takes a bit, they are now only half way, and you know how slowly I type. Dan walks over to them and sets the firs three aside, (they got there first) and dismisses the last two when they get to him.  And off go the first four.  Not much from the crowd, but the bitch in front is a good one, and it is Wings of Gold.  Dan looks at the first four and brings Kent from the other group and puts him in fourth, that puts Scottie in fifth, and Dan has them makes another pass.  Lots of double handling, (even if it is against the rules), and off they go.  Totally loose leads, and Laurie has about 20 feet of lead out there, and Dan sets them aside, and moves over to see the other two.  Off they go to try to make the cut, and two nice bitches, but probably not nice enough, and Dan looks away and he walks over to the group and pulls the second from the other group, puts him in fourth and the other one is sixth. Now he takes his last four in this group, and heads them around.  Kent is second in this group, and his bitch is looking good. Dan looks at all of them and he moves Kent and the other bitch up and Kent is in BOD and they go to take a rest, and the last group is going to come in.

Dan has two groups of five in reserve, and about to work on his last group. Interesting way to judge and it seems to work.  Linda Bankhead just got here, and evidently the airlines lost her bags. Welcome to the National.

Dan’s last group is of ten, with Bill Basu, Art, Reggie, Joanne, Morris, Kenny Cunningham, Olivia and three others.  Helen is back and she looks good, and is going to hide out with me. Since I never talk dogs anyway. Big Dave came by and said hello. Cristy Hyman is looking for a lead she lost, and I doubt she will findit, but who knows. Dan continues to judge. Cindi and Helen are talking about how Helen gave Cindi her bird and how it turned out.  I remember that so well.

Ginnie Altman came by to say hello, and she is walking by.  More judging going on. What a great group we have up here now. Ralph Roberts, Cindi, Helen Franklin and Tony.  Ralph is telling Helen what it is like to judge the national, and I am learning a lot. It is fun to listen to these folks.

Scott came in with a different bitch from an earlier group. It is so hard to know what is going on, but they are about done now.  Scotty is in with the last bitch in this group. The group individuals is over, and now the hard part. Dan is looking at Scott’s bitch and he leaves her at the end, and he moves to the front of the group, and Bill is still there, and dan is looking for his placings. He stands with his hands behind him, and moves them aside, and tells the first four to stand back and takes the last six around.  And they get set aside, and in come the rest of them.

Now the hard work begins.  It looks like three groups, one of five, one of four and one of five.  Or something like that. Dan has them set in three locations,a nd they are changing some bibs off Kenny Cunningham, and I think they got a new handler, and now there are 13 and they set them up.  The first group is Bill Basu, Joann, Reggie, and Olivia, the second goupt is Ken Tank, and Ken goes to the front and I can’t type fast enough. Second is Laurie, then Bill Basu, and Dan is looking and brings Mikey up to fourth, and he goes to the first group again, and brings up Joanne, and then back to look at the three groups, andhe has five keepers and he sets them aside and tells the others, eight of them, to got together.  Dan takes the first four of the dumpers around, and there they go.  Dan looks at thewm and he sends the first one over and sets Olivia, JR and Diane aside, and looks at the last four with Christina in front, with a very nice bitch.  Then Jeff, and another with kent in back.  Dan goes up to them and he looks at them all and he sends the last two to the keepers and looks at the five he has left.  There go the good ones.

Ken is in front, the Laurie, Bill Basu and Mike. Showoff looks great and he moves Bill Basu in Second and Laurie stays in third, and Ken is nervous and Showoff is looking great.  Dan moves to the rest of the group and tells the first four, to stand aside. I am getting excited and there goes the second group four, with Joanne, then two more with Kent in last.  I am watching Showoff and Ken is doing all he can to make her look as good as she is, and Joanne goes to third and Kent to BOD and Dan watches them and everyone is posing as best they can and Dan has his hands behind him and he sets the last five aside and looks at the first three, Ken Tank, Bill Basu, and Joanne.  And there they go.  And Showoff is on, and doing what she does best, and moves as good as she can, Bill has a black in second and then Joaanne, and Dan talks to them, and thank god, sends them to the wall, and takes his last five around. There they go, and those are nice bitches. Dan is doing a great job, and the best is left, and the best have been to the front in every class.  DON’T CHANGE THE FIRST BITCH DAN!

Now Dan takes the first one down and back.  I know her well, she looks good but not perfect, and the black goes down and back and Dan says he can’t see her, so he wants her in a different direction.   And Dan moves her up front. Now Joanne, and she takes her down and back and she moves to second. I think Showoff is out of the running.  Now he looks at the first four, Bill Joanne, Ken and Laurie.  THAT’S IT.

First is Mar Haven’ Black Orchid, Second is Liebchen’s Boogie Wonderland, third is Schatzmar’s Showoff, (she is still a great bitch), and fourth is Sunrises Wings Of Gold Firecrest TC.  More to come.

Where Type Movement and Temperament come together

The presentation Stud Dog/Brood Bitch

We are on to the Stud Dog Class.  Joan Fox did come by for a bit, and we got to talk. It seems yesterday was due to some restrictions on the show, and the fact that 12-18 had to be held on Wednesday rather than Thursday.  I liked it better when we could blame Lew. But, I guess we can’t do that.

Snake was the fist dog in, and a very uniform class.  I had never seen the dog before, so it was interesting ot see what he produces.

Next is Aries and I am anxious to see him and his class. I haven’t seen him since he was under me at a show, and I didn’t put him up. Probably one of my big mistakes, along with not buying Disney stock in 1956.  Here comes Aries.  What a nice dog.  And, an impressive group of progeny.

Kim Schooley is here and we talked, but not in any debth.  I also see that Joan and Fran are watching this class, Joan looks great.

Now it’s Rollin’s turn.  Now that is a stud dog. Big group, including some being shown, such as Army, our Maturity winner.  It is a uniform group and shows a lot of movement. It is nice to have a Grand Victor Father, and a Grand Victor daughter.  Nine progeny in he class, and impressive.

I did talk to Iza for a bit,and I see Richard Sotille got her and is talking to everyone who will talk to him.  They are doing a good job of cleaning up after us. They are constantly cleaning the walkways, and emptying the baskets.

Color Guard without the sire, but good to see.  Frank is out there without a dog, posing and taking the ribbon. Sort of sad to see, but the progeny makes a fantastic picture for The Boss.  It does make me tear up a bit. The Guz comes in first, then in come the rest.  I think everyone knows I have and will always have a special place in my heart for The Boss. Not only because he was such a great dog, but his owners typify what I want to be when I grow up.

They just brought us the raffle tickets to draw for the 50/50, over $500.00.  I get to pick who will do it, and we will do it after the class.  Tammy is here, and looks as good as ever. She lost 35 pounds, and says she feels great.  What good news. We were just told there are no Brood Bitches, so it will right back to judging.

Kent just ran a good looking dog into the ring, and now he returns to the entry. Too soon.
It’s O’Danny Boy, and Kent brings him in.  The Guz brings in the first progeny, and he has been in with every presentation class.  All dark dogs and good pigment, at least from what I can see. A uniform type.

Reggie is here and laughing at everything. He went in for Color Guard and maybe he gets to keep the shirt. I don’t know what he rules are. He still doesn’t have a Special, so if anyone wants a top handler, let him know.

Now, it is BONO!  Six progeny, and different styles, and good to see what he is producing.  They all have a Bono hat, and it makes a nice picture out there, and is impressive. Kent is wearing his hat backwards, (kids) and George is the only person out there without a cap.

Now, here is Woth The Trip.  A very handsome dog.  Candace Skaggs just came by and promised to come back.  Now, back to the judging.
