Friday coming down

It's quarter to three and there's no one in the place except you and me.
In truth it's 7:15 and me and Irv are here and no one else.

I have decided to post while my computer has power and I have something to say.

I am reminded of the man who walks into the blacksmith shop and picks up a horseshow that was just fired. H immediately drops it.  The blacksmith says, "too hot for you?".  "No" he says, "It don't take long to look at a horseshoe".

Bob is gone a lot and he got another person for the announcer's table who loves the microphone. So, not doing the Blog or announcing I tried to just watch the show.  I see a dog, I watch it move, and that's all I need to see. Unless I walk around to talk, the National is boring.

I did get to spend some time with Al Martin this morning.  If you don't know Al, make it a point to talk to him. He is always interesting and has some great insight into our sport.  He is truly one of the nicest people you could meet.

I spent half an hour talking to Alex and Ceasar.  We are all attorneys so we were telling war stories. Alex in Puerto Rico and Ceasar in the Dominican Republic.  Alex looks like a teenager and is 45 now.  I think he was 14 when I met him. I had breakfast with Al, so my day is great so far.

We are running late, it is half an hour since we were supposed to get started, and hardly anyone is here.  Michael was here and we were able to laugh a bit.  Some of these memories of Alex and Al as kids are hard to understand how they aged and I didn't.

The hotel is too plush for me. I am more a Motel 6 type of person. I can't understand a $35.00 hamburger. And I have never walked so much. It is about ten minutes from the hotel to the ring, then another 100 feet or so in the building. I grounds are great and the site is fantastic.  But there is no food in the arena and no place close. Kenny Cunningham is here now and always fun to talk to.

Bob, (the voice of the National) left the microphone in his car, so he went to get it.  He has been nervous about Gunner, but tomorrow is the big day.

I will send this then come back with the show.

Lasting memories

This national will go down as the best quality I have ever seen, the most well controlled show, the friendliness people serving us and the most expensive of all.  Of course, the hotel was more than unbelievable.  I had a chance to sit with Morton Goldfarb.  He  told me he has stayed at some of the best hotels throughout the world, and  this was was the most opulent. It wasn't just the $30.00 hamburgers but everything they did was the best.  It made it interesting but humbled me.

I didn't get much time to talk to Bob, as he had three entries.  I miss the old days when we told jokes all week.

This time he and Martha were so concentrating that it took some of the joy out of the event for me. Also, when we tried to drive out and return it was an adventure to find  the hotel.

I did get to talk to Diane Brown and it was great to see her daughter do so well in the ring. I expect it was hard for her to be there without Tim, and I missed him as well.

It seems to me it is time to stop reading all the names of our friends who have left us. It does not start the day off on a high note.

Speaking of a high note, Julie and Candy were so organized it made my job easy and Gail is amazing how she pulls it together.  I gained even more respect for Linda Bankhead.  I don't know how she does all that she does and keep smiling.

Speaking of my job, I still don't know why anyone cares what I think.   But so long as someone reads my Blog, I will keep doing it.  If nothing else, it will show the progress of my senility.

Now if the plane doesn't cancel, and it does not crash, I will get to the office by noon tomorrow, (we gain three hours), and see what mess i have to clean up.  Dog shows are my life. How sad is that?

Thanks for letting me ramble again, and I hope to see you at the next show.

And then, the end is near

Bob, (the voice of the National), and I want to congratulate all the Select males.  We agree, we have never seen such deep quality in both sexes. The males were so deep in quality Jimmie could have gone with twice the Selects. The bitches are in there now, I have picked ten who could go Grand Victrix.

I want to say that the breeders are doing an incredible job, as the results are astounding. Rita and Jack are sitting in front of Me, and I am sure Jack enjoyed seeing his GV do it in two countries..  And Rita, who hit 45 years old and stopped aging kept laughing for the whole show.

The computer is going to go dark about the same time I do.

We are headed to Orlando, so as to catch our flight Sunday morning. Thanks for being here to share the National.

If you don't buy the tapes you will regret it, as I doubt you will ever see this quality again.

Next year I want to see Pat and Celest, Twyla, Art Sinclair, and so many others who didn't make it to Florida. They were all missed.

The unkindness cut of all

Jim brings in the first group, keeps four and sends six out to dream of next year. And in comes the next group. There is no questions about him keeping the best, but it sure is fast

In comes the second group. He got the best to the front with each group, and off they go for one round.  Gunner is in second and Jim pulls five and takes the other five around and out they go with one more Youtalkingtome at the last minute for a dream reserved. The rest will wait for next year.

In they come with Matt in front. Man, this is fast, but Jim put his top dogs in front when he did the individuals, so he is checking out what he didn't like.No Crying in Baseball in front and the last six have one last dream as they go around, lots of crowd support and Jim is  looking and he pull The Comeback Kid and the rest get to rest.

Now the fourth is there. Ceasar is going to help spot for me so I can get names. Lennie in front with Levi. He takes four. He is picking faster than I can type and takes the last six for a final trip.  And, they are gone.

Now the real thing. 18 in there, I doubt he will give them all Selects, but they are all great examples of the breed.

Ceasar just fell off the stand but he is OK.  Gizmo in front, then Oh What a Night, then Perigen, Gunner, Jack Danniel, Stormy Weather.  Now he is doing Down and back, and Ceasar isn't falling again. Hermes is in front.  Each goes down and back.  He has them in two groups eight in each.  Correction, Gizmo is in front and he goes to his second group.

In front is Elite No Crying in Baseball. This is his second quality group, from what I can tell, and there are some in here I would be proud to own.  And he stops them.  He moves Levi to the front.  This is great judging and off they go.  I have a Levi litter and I am pleased with what I see. Jim looks them over and takes them around again and he is looking and has them stop.  He takes them down and back. Second is Bow and Arrow. I think the top dog in the two groups is who is going to win it all.  But, what do I know. He moves No Crying in Baseball to second.  He Sofia moves up with The Comeback Kid.  Lennie in front with Levi. I think it is Levi, Gunner and Gizmo.  Jim takes the group to the back of his other group.  But keeps them separate and takes his first group with Gizmo in front.  Two groups of great dogs.

Jim walks to his first group and takes the first four and from his second group, one Lexi and then there are five. Gizmo What a Night ten Peregrin, Gunner and then Levi who now goes to Number ONE.

He pulls two more and he leave four off to the side and takes the group of twelve. I think that may be his Selects and he takes the other seven and they stop.  And out they go.

What fantastic job of judging. Jim is my new hero. Levi in first Gizmo and then Frankie, Penegrin, Gunner, Jack Daniels, Stormy Weather, No Crying In Baseball, Heathcliff.  And the rest.  He sets them up in the center of the ring, and shows what he has wraught.   OFF they go and YES, that's it.

ONE Grand Victor Levi
TWO Gizmo
THREE Oh What a Night
FOUR Peregrin
FIVE Gunner
SIX Jack Daniels
SEVEN Stormy Weather
EIGHT No Crying in Baseball
NINE Heathcliff
TEN Bow and Arrow
ELEVEN Maxim
TWELVE Viper

Thank Tedi and Ceasar for help with the names.

Male champions

Jimmie did something I have never seen before.  He told everyone to decide where they wanted to be in the groups, then designated groups of ten. It is hard to know what is going on, since they no longer are in calendar order.

Rita and Jack are sitting in front of me, and Gizmo decided to be number one in the group. Jimmie took them around, and now is doing the individuals.  I guess I can do some extra work and look up the dogs, but I need less stress in my life, not more.

What a beautiful example of our breed we have in there, but how boring it is to watch the individuals. I would rather watch paint dry, or grass grow. But, Jim is giving everyone a good look.

Kelly came by to talk and is nervous as she is showing Gunner. I know Bob is a wreck, but he has a top quality no matter what he does.  Linda Bankhead came by and is going to try to send my Blog somewhere else.  I don't think I will ever figure out why people read this, but I understand some do, so I keep doing it.

On another point, I think Linda saved this club.  There were so many things that she fought for, we all owe her a vote of thanks.

I don't know if I close my computer if I lose everything, so I will send this and come back when I have no longer lost interest in what it going on.

Saturday the Real Deal, The Big Kahuna, the Hot Day, The Ultimate

I started the day sitting with Morten Goldfarb and then Jimmy and Karena came and sat next to us at breakfast. What a great way to start a day. Morten told me he has stayed at the finest hotels in the world, and this one is the most luxurious he has ever seen. No wonder I feel intimidated. To make up for it, I am taking the soap.

They are moving ribbons to the table now and everyone in the 80 or so entered is expecting to win one of them.

The big controversy at the announcer's table is which Kis son is going to go Grand Victor.  Bob (the voice of the National) had the number two Select last year and this year the BOB at the pre-show.  The other Kis son, Gizmo was Canadian Grand Victor just a few weeks ago.  Of course, "The ASSOIATION" is connection.  Jim Hall, Sharon Avery, Michael Avery, Becky McElroy, and Bob Dresher.  Then, just to add some spice to our table, there is Levy, (who Tedi and I bred to)  All three dogs are entered in Specials, so it is going to be tense here at the announcer's table.

I decided not to announce the reading of those who passed this year, and will save my power for males, since few can breed to the bitches except the owners.  So I intend to watch the judging. Jimmie is always interesting and enjoyable to learn from.

Fifteen minutes to SHOWTIME.  Very few people here so  far, but the cocktail gathering last night was great.  Jimmie is walking the ring with Irv and they are going to change how they use the ring.  The rich seats were on the wrong side. Rather than reverse the seating they are changing the direction of the judging so your videos are going to be even better. BE SURE TO ORDER THEM, this could be one of the most famous Nationals of all times.

Lew Bunch just came by to chat. I asked if we shouldn't stop the announcing of those lost to us. It is such a "downer' and I wonder what it does to people like Diane Brown, (one of my favorite people) to hear Tim's name and then have to go in the ring and compete, or their daughter.  I think just put it in the catalog and leave the show without it.

I sure miss Celeste and Pat, of course Twyla, and that does not include those I used to laugh at all week and who no longer are with us.

I am going dark, (like I always was), and will be back later.

Aftermath

We went to the cocktail party. What a spread, and everyone was there having a great time.

I got to talk to Carmen for a minute and see his wife who did remember me, which is amazing as it has been over ten years.  I talked to Errin Ellis who put together the event and did an amazing job. I sat with Sharon and Michael Avery, and Sharon got bit. I suggested it might have been an alligator or an anaconda as they are plentiful after the hurricane, but I guess it was a wasp.

I spent a few minutes with Jimmy and was going to suggest who he should put up, but we got talking about more important things, his IGs and so we didn't get to it. I am looking forward to Gizmo, (who was Grand Victor in Canada), Gunner (who was number two select last year) and Levi who we just bred two bitches to.  It should be fun. I may work from the announcer's table then move.  I don't know how that will work, since Bob won't be there.

I spent a little time talking to Bill Peterson, and agreed this hotel is out of our comfort range. It is so plush I feel like I am an interloper.  I wondered how they afford the serviced and then Tedi found a news item that they just had a horse auction that gave them a fee of $10.000.000.  I guess they can get away with $35.00 hamburgers.

Zac and Lindsey had a great all black puppy at the event that was loving everyone.  I was having too much fun playing with him/her to ask who he/she was.  I guess I should include "them" to be politictiy accurate, which anyone who knows me, knows I am not.

The best of times, the worst of times.

We are back in the room and it was a great second half. If I do this next year, I am going to be sure to ask for an electric outlet.

It's quarter to three, for real, and we are done with judging.  Michelle and Gloria did a great job. I saw some bitches I might have gone higher with, but I was outside the ring and Gloria was up close and personal, so I accept her decision, as if she cares what I think.  I would show under either of them any time, Oh, wait, I already did when given a chance.

I miss being around Kierk, but he is 13, and needs his sleep time.

I am not sure where I stopped so Amateur Handle bitch was Crowne Shepherds Luner Eclipse.  Bred by Exhibitor was First was Queen of Broken Hearts with Kent, Second was What I Like About you with Liv Calabrese, Third was She's Like the Wind. It gives new meaning to Bred By when you have Kent, Liv and not actual Bred Bys.

American Bred Number one was MardiGras, Second was Margarita, Third ws Mona Lisa and Fourth was Glory Alleluna.

Open bitches was First and Winner's Bitch was Chelsea Lately, Second and Reserve Winner's Bitch and one of my favorites was Shinning Star, Third was Very Special Agent and Fourth was What the Hail.

I normally would not mention the Long Coat class, but the winner was such a spectacular bitch that I will announce, her. It was Tasia, who was just bought by Joan Fox.

That's it for today.  This hotel is too much for me, and the food costs are outrageous. I can't digest the food as I keep thinking what it costs and it makes me choke. but, it is plush, the people are very kind and except for charging for everything, there is not coffee maker, and no microwave, it is just fine. Everything is about half a mile apart so I am walking more than ever before, it is probably good for me.

I got to say hello to Don Knight and Liz, I didn't get to talk to them, maybe tomorrow.  I have tried to talk to Kathy Steen each week, and call her to say hello. She is restricted to a wheel chair, and would appreciate hearing from you.  Her number is (770) 751-0311.

I may go back to see everyone working dogs, but I have the new Stephen King book, so maybe I will just read. I am such a party animal.

I know Bob is anxious to go Grand Victor. I saw Jimmie but didn't find time to tell him to put up Gunner. I will try to catch him before the show tomorrow. I know he will appreciate the suggestion.

More tomorrow.

Open Dogs

Only four, but great looking dogs.  First is Viggo, then Camareigh, then Something Bad, and John Wick. The crowd isn't in to this, but four good looking dogs in there.  I think the American Bred should be Winner's Dog.  Off the four go, and it should be a fast decision. In front is Viggo then Camareigh, third so far is Joan Wick and then Something Bad,and that is the way it goes.

Now the Long Coat, only one, who probably will win, so I am posting that Ghost Rider will win.  And, I am correct, he wins.

ON TO WINNER'S DOG.

In they come. Michelle does a great job, and the quality was first class, so some nice dogs.  What an exciting group of dogs. I am at 29% so I  may not get the winner.

Michelle is walking the group, and the crowd is alive. Laurene is working her dog and has a great yell.  Everyone gets a good look and he says, "take them around".  Since no one reads this anyway, I like Kobee the best, but he is from the 9-12 so it would be a stretch.

The puppies are having a good time. All down and back.  It looks like the show might be over by noon. What a change of a National.   And off they go, the long coat, Kent, then Lennie One at a time.

The crowd is alive. I may send what I have and then charge the computer to tell the winners.  OK, I admit it, there isn't a bad dog here. Any of them could be Winner's Dog.  Kobee is too much a puppy and didn't have a great pass. Kent to the front then Lennie then Liz and Kobee. Kent has  Viggo,  second is Kingsley and the rest. Now ju
the first three and he looks them over and uses his hand on each one.  He spends some time on each and they all are great.

He stacks the three and sends them around again and Lennie in front. Each of then gets a chance to lead and now Liz, and the yelling is deafening. I think he has decided and puts Kent back in front with Viggo, Michelle goes down the line and shakes hands with each of them and goes over to the table to mark his decision. And Yes, it's Kenlyn's Marquis Viper the Gunpowder son.   Now for Reserve.  Al comes in with Phineas.

He lines them up, marks the gook and awards it to Kingsley, my favorite from the time of the class.  Bob is still smiling and the beat goes on.

American Bred

Six in there, what a big class. And in comes the seventh. What a challenge to try to pick four. Yes, Sheldon, that is sarcasm.

I see three I like.  The three are special and any of them so far are good. I do like the Levi son, Kingsley.  And now four to juudge.

Olivia has American Sniper.  Lennie has Kingsley. Then we have a handler I don't know from Florida, Steve with Fooling Around, and that's the first group.

Jimmy and Karenna are here, and I will have to go see Jimmy and make sure he remembers the standard. Zoe came by and so far only one Open dog has picked up his arm band. This is going to be a sort show.

Now the other three in the class, I'm on Fire, then Make it Sop Jean and Walk This Way.

I just got to meet Levi's owner, what a treat, not to mention she is a beautiful woman. It is interesting to sit with Bob and hear about Gunner, Gizmo, and Levi.  Much more than I wanted to know.

And Michelle lines them all up. I can't get over how much the breed has improved over 50 years.  Yes, I have been at it that long..

He pulls  Kingsley up front with Fooling Around in second. I am not as stupid as people say I am. Checking the bite on one, who won't be named.

I think he has decided as they all go around again.  And YES that's it.  Just as I would have done. One is Kingsley, Second is Walk This Way, Third is Foolin Around and Fell in Love, and Fourth is I'm On Fire.

It is 9:30 and in come the Open dogs, five entered, we don't yet know who showed up, but I will be back as I am still at 42%, and so is my computer.

Friday more show

He awarded the Amateur Owner Handler, the winner of a class of one was Artikau.

Now the real thing with Bred By with Kent in Front, then Al Martin, and finally Mike.  Sort of defeats the idea of having the breeder handler when you have three of the top handler in the country showing and handling.

Sharon is here now, talking to Bob, who found the microphone.  I like Al's dog best of the three. I like the Gunner dog with Al.  It is hard with Bob next to me and the drama with Gunner and Gizmo and then you throw in Levi.  It's Viper, Phineas and Sundance. The two best are Kiss grandsons.  That's it, Viper, then Phineas and Sundance.  Only three, and three good ones.

Friday

I lost everything I wrote, so it was very interesting and knowledgeable, and showed great insight into the breed.

I spent some time talking to Alex and Ceasar. We are all attorneys, so it was fun. I have know Alex since he was 14 and now he is 45.So, knowing math like I do, I have known him for 31 years..  I just met River's brother, he looks great too.

I got to talk to Kenny Cunningham and always enjoy that.

They started the show so I will be back, (to quote Arnold)

That is it for today. We are back to the room at 2:30. The entry is small, but the quality is good.  Tomorrow Gail is going to set me up a table with Irv who is doing the video.  He is very helpful and if you can, order his video.

I tried sitting over with Irv yesterday, but I couldn't see the show.  If  I get my own table it will work.

I am giving up announcing since Bob arranged someone else, and so I chose to watch the show and Blog. I get a lot of complaints for my Blog, so it is just like practicing law.  I find if I just watch the show, it is boring since I can't talk to anyone and am isolated at the announcer's table.
So, I may try a different approach.

I did talk to Michelle today and he is always fun to talk to. He is very bright and has a great sense of humor. Speaking of sense of humor I also got to spend some time with Sharon Avery.  We can always make each other laugh.

The first dog I saw when I got here was River, and so I got to talk to Rick his owner. Then today he was number one in the Top 20. That is a great example of the breed and it was worth the trip to Florida just to see him and put my hands on him.

Now I am going  to read my new Stephen King book and waste the rest of the day.

Evan

15-18 puppy dogs

I am down to 28% and so is my computer. So, I am going off until I find Gail.

12-15 puppy dogs

I lied about posting since only two in this class. Gloria came by to say hello and is talking to Tedi.

Stallone is in front Frank in second. I suspect they will both be in the ribbons.  Only one absent. Liz is in with Stallong. She looks great and I haven't had time to talk to her yet, but I will. She is one of my favorite people. Her dog does not want to cooperate, but is a good one, and sound as can be. The crowd likes him, and so do I.  Lennie's dog is going to fight him, and does not want to be examined.  It looks like inexperience to me and I told Joe, not what you want, but at any given day anything can happen.  Michelle goes over him and he is sound as can be.

I would not want to pick between these two dogs.  Man those are two terrific dogs,  Stallone wins it with Frank behind, and either of them coulld have won.  Stallone gets to go to "The Big Dance:

9-12 puppy Dogs

Only two absent, and Bob's dog is in there with Kelly, so he has left the table.  I think it is nerves more than anything else.  Seven in there.  A Megabucks son in front, Diego, and he is a good one.  power is at 47% so if I can find Gail, maybe I will move and Blog instead of announce. Now a difficult choice for me.  I see Courti outside the ring, doing a good job and that is a good one. You normally don't want to start in front, but with Michelle, I doubt it makes any difference.  now it's Itsadogshownotthreapy.  That is the name.  I didn't make it up.  Now destiny's Dream.  I do like sables.  That looks to me like a good one. A nice easy moving dog.  Now Elija, The Fasano's dog with Diane Brown as owners.   He is not happy about showing his teeth, but sound.  Good down and back.  Diane is here doubling and Michele checks him again and he is sound. And off he goes, slow and easy.  the crowd appreciates a correct and solid dog.  Now Lennie has Elite Design in there.  He stacks like a pro.  And the dog does well too.  The owners are Kathy, Debbie, Ingrid, Naomi and Cheryl.  Not a man involved.

Now it is Shamrock Falls, Bob and Martha's breeding.  Kelly is handling and she always does a great job. Big masculine pup, and full of life.  Kelly is trying to get him a bit down. And she comes back and tell the double handle to "STOP".   He does look better on his own. Kelly tell Martha to be quiet. and that is a good sound dog.

Last is Kobee Bearyant.  Owned by Manny and Joey, and spouses.  Scott is handling.  He looks fully matured.  A real good looking dog. This is not going to be an easy decision.  Scotty is having trouble getting what he want, and yes, that is a great example of our breed.

I would not want to judge this group, too many good ones, and off they go. Now I have my pics and yes, up front is Kobee and then iItsadogshwnot therapy Jimeni, and Shamrock Falls and in fourth Elite Design.  And off go the first four, and that is a great group.  Michelle sets the last two aside to work his first. I can see either of them winning and he brings them all out, and I think that is it and YES, that's it. Great decion.

First is Kobee, Second is Itsadpgshownot therapy, Third is Falls of Anneisle-Malibar and Fourth is Elite Design. I think were I judging I would have put up the shortest names, just  to help those who post.  I am at 35% so until I find Gail, I will stop posting. Aren't you glad?

thursday

Bob showed me a picture of Gunner who was the Best of Breed at the pre-show, and he posted it to the link.

There was only one club for the demonstration, and so we have a 15 minute break before the puppies.  Not many people here, so they are waiting for the show to begin. I don't see many entries by the ring, Autum Dugan was talking to us, and I didn't realize she was a pool player at the professional level. We forget there is life outside of shepherds at times.  I had business cards made up that said Attorney - Magician - AKC Judge. It gets comments.  I got a certificate from the AKC recognizing me for judging for 25 years. It didn't mention the quality of my judging, just the years.

Here they go into the ring. Bob is in rare form, and although we are the only important people here now, except for Irv who does the video and Michelle who is in the  ring and he watches them as they come in.  I see a few that blow me away, and I suspect it will be a hard class to judge.  Nine in there now. All expecting to win.  Rita is here now, and looking great, as always. Martha is here now, so Bob is away to give her a hug. Lennie has his lucky red pants on, so let's see if it does him any good This table is dangerous, our chairs are two  inches from falling off.  So far we haven't done it, but the show is young.

The first puppy is a sable and being excused. I missed why, and I doubt Michelle would excuse a dog for being a sable. I would guess he shyed.  Now bill is out there with Teressa's pup. He is a handsum  male, (I have two spelling errors, but don't want to waste my battery to correct them.

Tedi is sitting with me, so Bob has no place to sit.  Bill Basu is in from of this group.  Now the next group with Lennie in front, four. Five absent out of 14, about a third which is normal for young dogs. Lennie out there Daneli.  Michael Cheeks is here and tryng to avoid those who hate him for not putting them up.  I like My Heart is on the rebound.  But what the hell do I know?  To quote Ed Barritt.  Lindsey has Beat of my Heart.  A litter mate of Zac's dog.  I like him too.  Now Rebound is going aroung. The crowd likes him too.  He is flashy and correct.  Not many people here but some applause.  With Tedi and Martha here, we have to behave.  Cynthian Wilhelmy is here and explains why people get her name wrong.

Now the second group is in there and so far, no placing. And they are together.  He wants to see Mascot down and back again.  and now he wants to see Beat of my Heart down and back. He is making sure of what he saw.

He is pulling his choices in front and he has five there with Crane in front.  Off they go with Lindsey and Zac in fourth and fifth.  He looks them over stacked and tells them to head around again. Nice looking puppies, the one in front looks ready to finish.  Michelle moves Rook tothe front with Lindsey in second and wants to see his last two dogs.  Jac gpes tp fpirtj/  Rook looks like he is going to sine this one and Michells puts the last two aside and off goes the firth three. The crowd is alive and they all get a good look.  Michelle is one of our best judges.

I think this is it, and they are all out there, First is Tacoras Rook, Second is Silhouette's Beat of My Heart, Third is Peters' Elite Denali, and Fourth is Silhouette's My Heart is on The rebound at Vadara. Great joices.

Now on to the next class.  I have but a little power left and my computer is the same way.

Gunner Best of Breed at the Preshow

Select Excellent Grand Champion Jimeni's Gunpowder Falls of Clayfield-Malibar, TC
Best of Breed at the National Preshow.

Failure

I see after failing many times, and with the help of Zoe, my stuff went to the net. That proves that while it is much easier to give up, trying over and over can work.

I remembered to bring a deck of cards and was able to do some card tricks for Loren.  Bob got here and so all is good.

Here I am an hour early at the arena.
The problem is that there is no power to the announcer's table. So, I can either piss of Bob by going to the other side of the ring and Irv, (at video) agreed to share his power with me, or piss off everyone at home who wants to read this stuff I put out, which I don't agree with anyway.

Gail does such a great job setting up the National, but the people she depends on do not want to do anything extra, so maybe Gail will move the announcer's table to the other side of the ring.  I will go with whatever she decides

I tried to just watch the show yesterday and not Blog.  That bored the hell out of me. How long does it take to look at a dog?

I will let you know what happens by either going dark, (my normal life style), or be back with my regular nonsense.  You will know when I do.

There is no power here. No, that is not a comment on Bob and me. So, Linda came by and Tedi is here.  Bob went to get his bitch ready. Paul Johnson came by and looks great too.  Gloria is talking to Tedi next to me, so I am learning what is good.  Linda is giving an announcement.

Michelle is in the ring and in they go.  Liz in front with Heart of Fire. They are slow coming in the ring. Michelle looks them over as they come in.  I never do that.  I remember when a judge place them all after they came into the ring, and then did the judging and didn't make many changes.    There is no food here, so I am having a giant Payday for breakfast.

And off they go. I might have a problem since there is no power and my computer went off. I am trying to use the power kit that Candy gave me.

The computer went off, the power pack doesn't work, and so I am over at the video table where I can't see the judging.  But, the computer works.

I am not bloging is I have to miss the show. I did just see Bob's bitch and she is something special, Brook Falls.  He is judging a sable now, and there are very few being shown and she is in front for now Centerfold.  I do like her, she belongs to Kenny Cunningham, who I also like, and off they go.  I got to say hello to Jack and Kent, not together.

They are doing a great job on the video, and I can either sit here and Blog, or announce and watch the show.  Tedi is at the announcer's table, but I have the microphone, so I have the power.  I won't be on the net if I am not at the announcer's table since that is probably more important.

Also, I would like to see the show.  Also, of great importance is that I am now on the opposite side of the ring from the restrooms.  The video people let me move to their section and I can watch it on the big screen.  It is even a better view of the dogs.  The video is good, but not as good as the real thing.

Michells is working the first group with both groups in the ring and he is looking them over with his arms crossed and he pulls the sable to the front then George. Centerfold in front, and now he takes the rest.  and walks to the front looking over his first few bitches.  I would probably go with the sable were I judging. That explains why I am not judging.  She is a dark sable and now down and back.  Now George who is so important that he doesn't need a number.  Michelle goes to number three Margarita.

Michelle takes those three.  Three nice bitches and now he takes them around again in that order.  Now he takes the next three.  Twizzler in front and a very nice bitch.  and now Alex with Lia.  Not much noise in here, and sort of nothing happening unless it is your bitch.   People like Heart of Gold, and so do I.  They  do a great job with the video, but it isn't the same as seeing them .

I think that is it and Michelle gives them  a look and moves Zac to fourth.  Heart of Gold, and off they go again. and NO, he moves the last few aside and wants to look at the first three. and they are spectacular.  And, off they go,  that little sable is hard to beat.  Now Heart of old in front and they stop and Michelle puts Leia in front and now just the two of them with the sable in second and he wants them around again.  It makes me glad to now be in the ring.  I have to admit, I like the Pharoe daughter, but George's bitch is good.  Now one at a time.  He brings them all out again and takes the class of five.  And, that's the way it is One is Brooks' Valls, Bob and Martha's bitch, Second is Twizzler, Third Vandendool and Fourth is Heart of Gold.

I have to decide to post or announce.  I will figure it out.

Elizabeth Wilkerson came by and even the membership has no catalog.  Pam O'Dell is here with a load of something walking around.  Gail came by with a microphone and no one knows where the catalogues are.  I see Dave Rinke talking to  Joan.  Frank Fasano came by to say hello.

Bob left the table to go work the crowd.  Dave and Martha came by. Bob is on the microphone, so I guess we are starting. He isn't at the table so I  don't have to do anything since he has the microphone.  I did get to see Rita last night and see her across the ring.  Now they are trying to get the show started. Bill Basu is here with a short beard and mustache, and I understand Art Sinclair isn't coming, and that is a surprise.

More people now, and it is starting to feel like a dog show. I did get to say hello to Zac, and he is going to be showing, or he ois dressed up for nothing.  I see Lennie about to go in the ring. We are starting the Futurity.

Kent  came by to say hello.  Nine in the ring so everyone came in. They are in the ring, but it is quiet here.  Lennie is in front of me and Al is in the middle. Gloria is having each brought out to her for a temperament test and everyone did well.  Gloria always looks great, and always presents well. And, does a great job judging. Valerie Harrington came by with her camera.

It must be me, but these all look like fantastic puppies. Liz is out there with a Levi puppy.  These males look finished, but I know they are young.

OK, the individuals done and around they go.  She stops them and reverses the first two and she lets them go around, not Viper is in front and says take them around for the last pass on this group.  Now the second group with Mike now in the middle.  We got to have dinner with Mary Ellen Kish last night and that was fun.

Martha came  by and brought Bob his breakfast but nothing for me  That is how my life always goes  Now Al in front of this group, I have always liked his dog, he is something special, Phineas. Sheree is here, and nervous. Bob does like the Gunpowder sons and in front are two Kiss grandsons.  That dog is making an impact.  Viper in front, now some excitement.  Molly Snieder came by and commented. I think
Viper is going to win and YES!  Viper is first, Second is Phineas, Third is Gold Rush, and Fourth is Firethorn.

Now on to the bitches.

First day at the National 2022

Here I am in Florida at the arena, an hour and a half before the show.
The ring is interesting. It is gypsum and felt. It looks like dirt with no dust and a light gray. The footing feels good with no slipping.
I did run into Al this morning. He was about to go for a  run before he runs at the show. Just thinking about it makes my back hurt.
Getting here was interesting. After five hours in the air, we followed directions to Ocola, all back roads and neighborhoods until I insisted we use my phone.  What a surprise, Florida has freeways.
As we were leaving the hotel, (fantastic place but very expensive), I  leaned down to pet a dog that looked incredible. The owner told me it was River, who you know I love. He is a great dog, stood like a statue while I petted him and fussed over him.
There is no place to eat at the arena, and this place is huge. We found the Center, and then could not find the hotel. Then when we went out and came back, could not find the hotel again.  I am going to have to rent a scooter.
The announcers table is on a platform which if I lean back, I am going to fall off.
Bob, (the voice of the national) showed his great dog yesterday and went Best of Breed. He was Select number two last year, so I know he has hopes of Grand Victor this year, and I can see that happening.

I have to admit, this is a bit plush for me. The hotel is $180  a night, but worth it. Marble floors and at least six restaurants in the building.

I am here an hour and a half early, but since I don't have a catalog, and the internet just listed Futurity today with no times, I guess I am ready to do whatever comes up.

Zac is in the ring by himself.  I am talking to the video people, who are here.  Lindsey is whistling and got my attention, the puppy not so much.

Ben Bigornia is here and talking to the other few people.  Now some are filtering in, and Julie and Candy are working the tables with the ribbons and bands, (arm, not music).  Ken Cunningham is here, but ignoring me. That shows how smart he has become.  They have the big ribbons hanging on a board. the lighting is great, it is comfortable in here.  We had dinner with Candy and Julie last night, and while expensive, it was a good hamburger.  I see a pattern developing here with money.

Half an hour to show time, (so I hear) and not many people in the arena.  A few are waling around, I see about 12 so far.  I guess I am skipping breakfast. Maybe as the day develops there will be some more people. That is my prediction.

Bob just got; here, and so did Alex.  Sharon is now here, the judge is in the ring.  She brought Michael. I see Joan Fox and Linda at the end of the ring.  Zoe is here and Shelia is here too, but hasn't come by. Michael Chaloux is talking to us, Joan Fox came by to say hello and so did Gloria Birch. Karen came by and looks great, and here is George.

Since all my rowdy friends are coming by, so I will send this and be back.
