Bred By Bitches

American Bred Bitches, and this is the last group of the day. We are getting punchy up here, so it is good we are about done.  Cappy is talking to Martha Rinke.  Thirteen in there, an unlucky number for nine of them.

 

AND THEY WALK.  Bob isn't interesting any more.  They are going to let people work their dogs in the ring tonight after the show. But the favorite time of mine is on Friday night when all the champions come in, not groomed, and we get to see them without show poses, or handlers. I will never forget the year I was having such a great time looking at the dogs and bitches, and then in came a dog that blew my mind. After seeing him for about two minutes, I knew he would be impossible to beat for Grand Victor. That was Army.

 

Morton is doing his thing and each dog gets an individual exam. I guess we should expect that from judging. It is no surprise.

 

There is a bench show committee.  Evidently someone got bit in obedience.  I think they would take away the degree.  If I find out what happens, and it is not likely, as they keep me ignorant if they can, I will let everyone know.

 

If anyone is still interested, Morton is still judging.  He is still doing the individuals, and there goes Olivia, and up comes Kent.  Art Sinclair is here and talking to the crowd.  I see it is Lenny going around and Sylvain is up next. The crowd likes that bitch. 

 

Now Morton is on the last bitch, and when the class is over, they will water the grass and then work the dogs in the ring. Morton is checking his notes, and going down the line, he drops his notebook, and tells them to walk.  Off goes the whole class. All of them dreaming of going Winner's Bitch, and Grand Victrix.  But, the odds are against it. But, anything could happen.  Lew Bunch just got here.  Lew said he likes the Blog, an d I am not sure why, but it still is fun for me. And they stop in the ring, and there they go again.  They run and Morton looks them over.  And, there they go, walking again.   Morton is walking them again, but moving them as they go.  The second half of the class.  American Celebrety in front. Now Kelly moves to the front.  I remember Goldbecker who did that, and now Sylvain goes to the front. They want me to buy a raffle ticket, and maybe if I just keep typing I won't have to buy one. 

 

Morton is talking about how good his class is, he says they are very good and lines them up in the center.  Morton says what he likes about them and points it out.

 

First is Signature's Bali, Second is Phil-Car's Bitsy Adams, Third is Von Hornberger's Chardonnay, and Fourth is Foothills Looking So Goo O Banjo. I write em as I see em, so if there is a typo, it is not me.

 

I never make a mistake, and now on to another evening of fun and frolic.

American Bred Bitches

Bred By Dogs

 

A full ring in there.  It looks like twelve in there.  Lana Lee has fourteen.  I understand that there was a collision between a handler and Gloria, so we are waiting to see what happens. I can't imagine what we would do if we have to go to the ladder system. Everyone would move up and the next highest judge would be someone with five votes. What do we have, about 18 judges here?

 

I sure hope Gloria is OK, but I don't want to be part of the crowd.  Gloria is OK, and in the ring. That is enough drama for me.

 

And off they go. Lana Lee is right again, 14.  This is getting to be a habit.  She pulls out a black with Nancy.  It is a Magic Marker daughter. Excuse me. That is Select Champion Excellent Magic Marker. He was the Futurity Victor last year, Black Bart.  His litter-mate is in here Captain Jack Sparrow.  I like the Markie puppies.

 

This is a nice class, but not deep.  She is bringing in the next group.  Kent in is there for the loose lead and Gloria is talking to him, Man in Black, then Leslie and that is the end of the group.

 

I was sitting with Big Dave Rinke, Bill Leonard and talking to Ed Barritt at the same time. I was trying to teach them about judging, but they would not listen to me.   I tried to tell them that you could not show a champion in Bred By. I think, no, I know, I am right. Even if I often lean more to the Left.

 

That group is done, and now she starts to look them over. It is interesting in here, a lot of chatter, but it sounds more like people are talking among themselves. Maybe I should announce that there is a dog show.  Off they go, and now they stop.

 

Now she calls for the other half with the Markie pupps in there.  In they come, and so far they all have dreams.  Now for the first half again, Nancy still leading.  Four sent to the pits.  Now there mare only a bunch left.  Nine left, and four will probably place. So, the odds are against you.

 

Black Bart is still in there, so is Captain Sparrow.  She goes down the line with a head pat, the dogs, not the handlers.

 

Gloria stands back and lots of double handling and there they go with Black Bart and Nancy in the lead. And Gloria really watches him and now looks over the rest of the class and now goes to look at the front again and now she stops them.  Up goes Scott and then Scott, Nancy, Kent and Mike.  Player in front, Spiderman, and Black Bart, and she takes the last five to look them over again.  I have a strange feeling there is a lot more judging to go in this class. The last three head to the heap, including Jack Sparrow. Now there are six.  Nice males.  The crowd like Mike, but he is fifth right now.

 

Kent is yelling at his double and off they go.  Scott in the lead with Player,a nd she is walking towards them but not too fast, so I think there is some change going on.  Gloria stops them and goes to the front, I would put Bart in front of Spiderman, but Spiderman is a great dog, as is Player.  Off they go.  This might be it, she looks them over well, and goes to get the records. That should be it, if she goes as she does. Yes, they line up in the center oft he ring.   And, counts them off.

 

First was Wolfcreek's Player of Elite Design, Second was Ponch Hill-Tantara Spiderman, Third was Laslar-Candia's Black Bart, and Fourth was Billyjo's Man in Black.

 

We are having fun now, and have passed the fatigue factor.  So, Bring on the Bitches, and the dogs they handle.

Dan Smith is in there.  Nine bitches.  Walking.

 

I just got to talk to Cappy and Betty Winthers, and Gloria and I got on the video, voice only.

 

I will go with that. I like the way Morton ends up, but because they just walk, it isn't exciting. If he wants to show off the dogs, to the spectators , he would have them run just a bit. But, he is intent on judging, and I understand.

 

It give me a lot of time to think. That is never a good idea with me.  Morton is making more notes. I told him to Google "George Karavolos Evan Ginsburg".  He should get a kick out of that.

 

I might be getting a second wind, but I feel a lot better today. I don't know about the meeting tonight, I may just wait to see how I feel then. Morton is over by us now, and Frank looks exhausted and is going down and back, two at a time.  I guess that shortens the time. Frank was told to go with her over to his right, an dFrank is not smiling.  Next two and Al and Sean go there, and then Jeff and Morris, and now Leslie and Trevor, and finally Joe. Everyone passes.

 

Off they go walking again.  He is making more notes, and Bull out Frank, Sean, Leslie and Al, Frank in front.  He has Frank up with the bitch who was Winner's Bitch in Canada, and went Select.  Now Morton dismisses all but six. Dan in front and then the rest and that is how it goes.

 

First is Winsome's Crimson Hot Ember, Second is Skylyne's American Idol, Third was Stuttgart's Pistol Packin Glanna Of Janry, and Fourth was Almars Donikka.

Bred By Dogs

I got to walk around a bit and mingle with the little people. Of which I look up to. I am not sure what that makes me, minuscule, perhaps.

 

I got to meet Amanda Dash, and we talked for a while.  I also spent a few minutes with Diane Brown. She never ages and looks great as always.  Don't let Tim I said so.  You have to see their daughter, what a good looking kid.

 

Ed is here talking to everyone, and I understand Dan is taking in a dog himself. That should be interesting.

 

I announced the Stud Dog and Brood Bitch presentation. I loved doing it, but I broke up at times.  I can't imagine anyone who saw that thinking our breed wasn't going great. What a tremendous presentation with fantastic progeny.

 

Now we begin again. I hope we don't have to do this all over. I would not last.

 

BRED BY DOGS:

 

In they come, and a big class.  Bob (The Voice of the National) just went to get us both a hot dog.  Pam is here next to me and it is a thrill.  Now it is Pam, LanaLee and me. That is a trio you do not want to trust for anything.  Pam reminded me that I had already shown her my hot spot. That has to do with computers, so don't get mixed up on that.

 

Bob, (The Voice), oh hell, you know who I mean, is gone, so we can do a lot of stuff we couldn't do if he were here. Sharon Newcom is here too and Ed is entertaining the crowd.    Ann Schultz is talking to me. She said I need to send her a bill for the majors I gave her.  I forgot to do that.   I got to say hello to Butch and he is talking to Danny and Carmen who talked to me for a bit.  Doris Herbert is in there, and if she can do it, I may have to think about getting back in the ring.

 

Six in there and Gloria is checking them over.  Now that I watch them move, I may have to reconsider. Don't tell Tedi I am thinking about showing again.  I have enough trouble telling her I want a new chain saw.   I did sell my Harley, so I can get rid of some of my life insurance.

 

The crowd is quiet, and there they go for another pass. Diane Brown has a very nice male, and he looks great against the wall. It is fun not knowing who is there.  This is one of the best classes, and she excuses all but four.  Christy, Jimmie, (of course) Kent, Joe Beccia, and Leslie.  Jimmie knows a good dog.  Gloria is laughing and having a good time. 

 

I have a deck of cards. If anyone wants a card trick to make the time go faster, just stop by and say so.  I like the quality of the judging, but as I get older, I don't want to spend so much time watching dog being judged. How much time can I have left?

 

Bob, (The) oh hell, went to get us hot dogs. What a great person, with rain and freezing cold outside, where the food tent is.

 

We are going still with dogs in the ring. What a surprise.  Bill Burgraff is here now, and it is good to see so many of these people. And a few I never want to see again. Overall a good thing.  On balance a good thing.  Jimmy stands alone and off go the others.  It is interesting to see the top handlers in the Bred By class.  Gloria just took the microphone to say this was the best Bred By Class she has ever seen. I agree, it is fantastic, and the best of the show.

 

She moves Jeff up front, Diane, Leslie, Kent and Joe. WOW!  Those are five Select quality males.  Now she puts Leslie in front and I can't argue with that.  I could, but no one would listen anyway, and she lets But, he is at the end of the line, and now Leslie down and back and all but six go.  Jeff, down and back and the crowd is behind him.  Each one goes down and back and each one is getting support, so far Jeff the most, but now she is up to the front of the group. Al, but not much applause. Let's see what they think of Kelly.

 

Here she goes.  Not overwhelming applause, but some. 

 

Gloria goes out to the center and lets them loose.  Jimmy has his stacked perfectly and she moves Jimmy to third, Leslie in fourth.  Kelly is still in front, and she looks them over standing.  And off they go.  Kelly, Al, Jimmy and Leslie and the fast walk on the judge and she is looking and leans in and to her right, and they stop. 

 

YES!  Jimmy to second and Leslie in third. I think I might go with Jimmy, but so far no one asked me to judge a National. Shows the intelligence of our members.

 

And, the stack.  Kelly in a great pink jacket in front,  and Jimmy, Leslie and Christy. No, they stop again.  Three against the wall of losers, and the four in front.  Jim to the front, then Leslie, Kelly and Chtristie, and off the go, and I think that will be it, but yes, she is fast walking and looking and Leslie's is showing off.   Tough group to pick from she stands and looks at them, and Jimmy is working with his to get the dog to look good. She walks down the line and thehy like Leslie's dog, and she is standing behind them and talks to the first two and has them down and back. This is exciting for the first time. Leslie is the crowd favorite. Jim's dog is all fired up.  Gloria has a hard test to go here.

 

YES Leslie up front.  The mob likes that and there they go.  All of them.   The FAST WALK and she is looking and they go to the center and line up.  THAT IS IT!

Only three in there.  I guess they evaluate the entries, not the handlers.  Gloria has them go around and watches them.  They are starting to tell us what to announce for the presentations, and it is amazing what they want us to say.  There goes the third one. Some nice dogs there.

 

I tend to enjoy a class of three.  I guess the winners go in with the Winner's Dog class, so everyone gets a shot.  Gloria wants to take another look.  If she is looking for a big name handler, she is in trouble.  The go, they stop.  Gloria is looking at them and changes the placings.  That's it.

Novice Bitch

Novice Bitches are up.  I see people milling about, and interest seems to be limited.  Ten entered, we will see how many show up.

 

Debie Hokanan came by and is now talking to Sam.  Only eight there, so using my math skills, I know that two are absent. Now another comes in and I will take off my shoes to count. 

 

We have a lateral move, from another class. I have never seen that before. Dick Jones just came to say we would have a specific time the Bred By.

 

Hello everyone, this is Tuti Sabat, better known as Ileana Nogueras' daughter. I'm just popping in to say hello while Evan takes a quick break. Currently watching the Novice Bitches go round. Also, trying to decipher the pattern on Morton's bow-tie.

 

I am back, and the bitches are still going around. Now Morton has his own clip board, and goes over to the bitches.  Morton goes down the line touching but not looking at the bitches, and that is the last one.

 

He pulls out George, Bill Lenny Mike, Then Nancy and Tish.  And, three more.  The second one is a Dexter daughter, one of my favorite dogs, and in front is Next in Line. With a name like that, he can't be first. He takes his fifth and sixth, looking for Best Of Dump.  There they go.  Next In Line, On Wings of Night and others.  He accuses the last three.  And another bites the dust.  Five left standing.  In third is Abby Scuito and then Consider it Done.

Novice Dogs

Gloria is back with Novice Dogs.  Big Dave is here and talking to Bill Leonard.

 

Novice dogs and only six in the class.  I can't see much of the individuals, but I get to see them when they move.

 

I saw Illeana, and her daughter Tuti.  I can't believe how she has grown. And, so has her daughter.  The dogs are starting to look better to me. It might just be because I ate.  Pam is here to criticize my typing and Martha Rinke is sitting next to me. She doesn't read the Blog so she is still talking to me.

 

Off the dogs go. Remember, this is a dog show?  Six in there, still.

 

Bill and Dave have decided that only two matter. It is too hard for me to see them, which is probably a good thing.  I got to talk to Bob Eaton, it is good to see him back at a dog show. It has been a number of years.

 

Gloria is walking around the group. I saw Helen Franklin a few minutes ago. Off go the dogs. No relationship to what I just said, and Gloria is walking towards them, and now stops, so there may be some more judging to go. They line up again.  She talks to them and give them instruction and Moves three to look at, this might be the dump group.  Now again for the last three, with four against the wall, and Gloria stops them and talks to them and they go back against the wall now, and she takes her first four, Lennie, Mikey, Olivia and Kent.  Now Mike goes up with the Futurity Victor, (yesterday with Gloria).  That looks good and she stops them and they stack again.  She lines them up and puts Olivia in front.  With Louisvuton.  Interesting.

 

The crowd likes that, and she goes back in second.  Man U Man stays in front, and they line up again.  I like those first two dogs a lot.  The other two are nice, but don't blow me away. Another reason I should never judge a national. Now, down and back for everyone.  That quieted the crowd. The do like Man U Man.  Phoenix sure is a producer. I guess that is no secret.

 

Gabriel is in Fourth place, a very good looking male too.  I guess I like all four of them.  Gloria takes the last four around again, so she wont make a mistake.  I think she is sure of the first three, and now goes with all of them stacked, and gives some instruction.  And there they go with Mike, Olivia, Kent and Lenny, and the rest, and Gloria is walking faster and looking at them, claps and YES, that's it.

 

First is Kannelwood's Man U Man, Second is Kiefrnfel's Louisvuiton Aramist, Third is Welove Du Chien's Carbon Copy and Fourth is Nosturne's Gabbiel II TD NJP UD.

On to another class.  15-18 Bitches, a class of six.  Here are the results.

 

First was Kismat Anne-Isle Hold On To The Memories, Second was Stuttgart's Hot Shot Remington, Third was Topline's Moulin Rough, and Fourth was Welove Du Chien's American Honey, (another Captain America progeny).

 

The full results are us already from Michele, but I will post anyway.

 

I left to get another hot dog. The food here is great, the dog show is a bit slow, but the people are just great. On to another group.

15-18 Dogs

Julie Tittl and Gloria Erskine are here from Michigan, and talking to me.

 

Gloria is doing her thing in the ring, and the individuals.  There goes Olivia.  Six in the ring and Bob is telling me bad jokes. The crowd is awake and gives some love to Kent's dog. Gloria looks them over and tells them to take a lap.  Lennie in the lead, Morris, and a bunch more.  It is hard to hold my interest.

 

She moves George to second and Phillip in third and Kent in fourth, and she is taking Olivia down and back.  She moves Morris to second and Kent to third. Olivia is Best of Dump so far, and off go the end of the class with George, Morris and Olivia.  Winning that doesn't seem important. The crowd is underwhelmed.

 

She seems to have her first four, but now she takes her first three, and off they go for one more lap. At least they get to trop, and Lenny is yelling at his double handler, Gloria is giving them a good look. She walks towards them and scratches her head.

 

Lenny must be holding his breath. It did no good, Morris goes up front and Kent now in second. 

 

Go Morris. The crowd likes that.  I understand that Jamie Walker just bought that dog with Bill Basu.  I hope I have that right. They do to the end of the ring that way, and those are the winners.    The Sable won.

 

First is Topline's Bellagio, Second is RiverRock's Starsky, Third is Windover's Rolls Royce of Abijah, and Fourth is Rallyns Nelson.

 

Tell me the truth. Does anyone care if I announce the winners?  You can get those from Michel, or Lana Lee.  Are you just waiting for me to say something to get myself in trouble?

Now on to more dog show.  Bill Leonard came by to talk to me about the class.  He has the tapes from Germany wit him. 

 

12-15 bitches in the ring.

 

Eight in there so far.  They are still calling for entries.  And Scottie, for nine.  Morton has them walking again.  I wonder if they might look better at a trot?  Against the white wall, they don't look that good.  I took a break to talk to Ed Barritt. I think he sees the world differently than I do. 
I notice the class is still in there being judged.  I did see Ann Schultz and Jamie Walker, and Cappy Pottle.  Alice is here with Gloria, so they are all together.

 

Michelle talked to me for a bit, and I got to introduce Linda Furgeson to Ed Barritt. I think they both enjoyed that.

 

There the dogs go again. I have to keep reminding myself that there is still a dog show going on.  Is nine thirty too early for a hot dog?

 

I see Kristy Hyman bundled up. It is a bit cold in here, and everyone is wearing coats. Not as bad as Lexington, but not warm. 

 

He pulls Leslie, then Lenny, and Kent, and Scott.  Now Kelly and Jamie. Now there are seven, and around goes the first four.  Leslie, Lenny, Kent and Scott.  Material Girl in front, then Lucky, and they are too far for me to see. He stops them next to me, and tells them to relax. In third is Kiss Me and if Kent would turn I could tell you who is fourth. Morton is looking at the othr four, and walks towards them.

 

Bart Barkley is here to give me some changes to the Stud Dog Class.  And Morton excuses two, and now there are six, and off the go. This has to be near the end, or maybe that isn't a good phrase for me to use at my age.  They keep walking.  And two more bite the dust.  Now there are four. I hope no one bits him. He pets each on the head, Leslie, Scott, Lenny and Kent, and he puts Scott in front, and does it that way, First is Grey Pine's Lucky, Second is Amber's Material Girl V Carma, Third is Jerwen's Kiss Me Or Not, and Fourth is Phil-Dar's Lady GAGA.

12-18 Dogss

Here we are again to start a new day.

 

Bob and I are both here, and so is LanaLee. There are no one extra here. Bill Basu came by and is looking good. Linda Ferguson is here early, and talked to me. That always starts my day right.  Pam Stoesser came by with Jane Kerner. They had a great day yesterday.

 

We didn't stay for the free dinner, but ate at the hotel. The food was good. We ate with Celeste and Pat, with Liz.  It was fun, but that had to be the longest day, in my mind.

 

DD is here now, and so things are looking up.  I am looking forward to Specials and Icon and also Ruby. Bill said he worked Ruby and she worked well for him.  As everyone knows, I am upset over Exxon, but today is a new day. Thank god for that.

 

I think the first day is always the worst.  Kathy Potter is here now, and I am getting help from my new best friend forever, Bob (The Voice of The National), Drescher.

 

I got to talk to Gloria for a bit. She looks so much younger.  We just finished with the anthyms and it reminded me of Christina. She just opened in Vegas for Kid Rock. And, we knew her when she started and sang for us.

 

Dave Rinke is here now talking to DD and Paul Johnson.  I now see Martha on the other side of him.  Big Dave came and talked for a bit. 

 

Gloria is all in black with a wide bottom. I know there is a fashion term for that. 

 

Eight in the ring, so that should not take too long. It is not the right attitude when all you hope for is a small class.  The handlers look alert, the rest of us, not so much.  I have to admit, I miss having Summer here to laugh with.  I am doing all I can to make sure she is here next years.

 

I see Jane Kerner there with her bell and it is quiet in here. I understand the dinner in the ring, (free) was great, but we missed it. Helen Gleason is in front of us, and has been working the crowd.  Kent just went around with Leather Neck.  He is a Stevie son, (Captain America), and I do like him, I saw him yesterday.

 

Ann Schultz is talking to Cathy Potter, and in the meantime, Scottie is going around.  Now I see George is telling his handler where to go. My handler never says that to me. She does, at times, however, make it clear to me that she isn't listening to me.

 

The ring is set up with chairs on the one side, and bleachers on the other. The chairs are wood and comfortable.  And, for those who wonder, (thanks Flower Boy), there is no charge for parking. It is a normal Holiday Inn. It is nothing specials, but nicer than a Motel 6.  I am old enough to remember when those opened and it was $6.00 a night. I think that lasted about six months.  Sam Colvin is here talking to DD and Dave.

 

I got to say good morning to Olivia, but she seems intent on his entries.  Kelly is in the ring, and wearing pink, which looks great.  Lana Lee spilled on the table so I walked all the way over to the office to get a roll of paper towels.  For a reason I can't understand she just spilled again. I think it may be one of those "build it and they will come" thing. If you have towels, you have to spill. 

 

Gloria is taking them all down and back again, and she is talking to Scott and has him go in another direction.   One more to go, and everyone gets down and back again.  It is weird to hope for people to be absent, but that is how I feel.

 

Now she is done with that, and it may be time to pick.  She walks to the front, and now to the center, and yes, there they go. Bill Basu is in front.  She sets aside te group, and puts them back in the ring.  And now they line up again a little further back. The dogs stack well.  Gloria goes down and touches each entry on the head and then the back, a few on the side, and she looks them over and walks to the front, and stands and looks at them.  She seems to be counting them, and now sets the back four aside, and is ready for the first four, and off they go, with Bill still in front, Diane, Phillip and George.    Boy, is it quiet in here.  Gloria is talking to them,a nd says something to Bill. 

 

Up front goes George then Diane, Morris, and Bill in fourth. Now the crowd is awake.  Bill is out, but the rest stay in there. And There go the other four, with Liz S in front, then Kent, Scott and Kelly.  Up front with Kent, then Scott, and she looks more at Liz S and Kelly.  Now the other two, George and Diane join them. There they go, four on the floor.  (Those under 50 have no idea what that means).

 

The arena is full, and it is still early.  Gloria is looking at those four,a nd has her hands behind her back and takes George to second.  No one is impressed.  To me it looks like she is in favor of Kent, and Scott, and not so much on the others. I do like Kent's dog, Leather Neck, and so does Gloria. Bob said he gave him a major from the 12 -15 class. 

 

All together,a nd that may be it, and she looks at them all, and stands back and watches them, she is looking them over as they stack and moves  Kelly up one.  Then she is in fourth.  Gloria is looking them over again and tells them to take a final lap, in my opinion.  NO, she stops them again, and is saying something.  George and Diane must be frustrated, in the back.  Just the firt two. I do think they are the two best in there,   Oakley with Scott is not as smooth, but a great pup.

 

Now Gloria has them standing.  And looks them over from all angles.  Now the two of them again.  And they stand again, and she moves Scott up front.  Now she looks at the rest of her class.  She is talking to Kent, and Scott is listening, and they are instructing the double handlers.  And, now the entire class.  Gloria is doing her fast walk now, and She did it.

8-12 Bitches

One more class to go.  9-12 puppy bitches.

 

If nothing else, the food here is the best ever.  There is wood fired pizza that is as good as it gets. Then they is another booth where they carve off a lamb shank, and they put it in flat bread, with some onion and lettuce with dill sauce. I loved it.

 

In they come. Eleven, that can't take that long. On the other hand, my flight is on Sunday morning, so I guess it doesn't matter. 

 

WALK!  There they go.  Second time around and they are still walking.  Morton says to slow down.  And they keep on walking. Morton only watches them as they go by, and now he turns to look at the ones in front.  He says to keep walking and they continue.  This is the third time, and he tells them to stop.  He calls out Dick Jones with the pad. And he counts off the first six and sends the rest to the side. 

 

I am tired and have decided to spend some time talking to Bob (The Voice of The National), and working on my office who wants me to solve some legal stuff.

 

I will be active as we get down to the details.  Michele, LanaLee, Bob and I had a lot of fun today, so far.  But the day isn't over. 

 

Sheree Moses is here talking with us.  She is telling Jim stories.  There goes the class.  He pulls out George, Scott, Kent, Lenny, Craig, Mike, Diane, Tish, Sean, and one more.  Off they go again.

9-12 Dogs

On to the 9-12 puppy dogs. Only seven in, so that is reasonable. Exxon is sure big and mature looking. He is with Nancy in second place as they come in.  Six absent.  Lana Lee said they may have aged into the 12 to 18 while we waited for the judging to finish.

 

Now the individual with Leslie and the first one.  He stands fine, that is Argo.  Now Exxon.  He wants to kiss Gloria, and now stands to be examined.  Now Art with Gentleman's Quarterly, and Alex with Marauder.  Next is Ursa Major with Christy, then Huricane with Olivia.  Eastbound And Down with Kent, and that is it.  No temperament problems with these young guys.

 

Gloria says, "Everyone ready?" and off they go.  About to hit the white wall,a nd there they are Exxon has settled down, and I like him, and also Christy's dog and Kent's too. 

 

Individuals, but only eight, so it should be short.

 

Nancy is having a hard time with Exxon.  She has only handled him one time, and she takes him down and back again, and has to stop and start twice.  He is a handful and a very big dog.  Art takes Gentleman's Quarterly.  Next up is Marauder with Alex.

 

Christy with Hurrican.  Eastbound and Down with Kent. We have a comfort break, and I may take a break too. 
And there they go, all in a row.  Nice looking dogs.

 

Gloria is standing with her arms behind her and walking to the group, and she sets them back next to the wall, and they set up.  What a picture Exxon is, winner or not.  Celeste is squeeking and is very clear not anyone else.

 

Gloria walks down the line and goes over each of them and now walks up and puts Exxon in front, and Art in Second, Kent in third and is looking at the rest and takes the last four, looking for a fourth, not for bridge, but for the class.  I am excited. I love that dog, and I think I have made it clear.

 

There go the last four.  And looking at them again. I just want Exxon to stay in front.  I get to say what I want since I am unofficial.  That is the story of my life, by the way.

 

Gloria looks them over and tells Leslie and Alex, they are done for this class. And, now there are five. Always have an extra in case someone bites you.

 

They are stacked and Gloria takes the last three, Kent, Christie and Olivia.  Art in second and YOU KNOW WHO IN FRONT.  They stack and Gloria looks at what she has left. And then they pose, and now she gives them instructions with Nancy in front, Art, Kent, and she takes those three.

 

She moves Art in number one.  Too bad I am not judging. But Art does have anice dog, Gentleman's Quarterly.  Gloria looks them over and walks towards them and Nancy needs to get him going, and yes.  There he goes.  Gloria is giving directions, and there they go.  This has me nervous. Come on Nancy, do it!

 

  They cut the ring and line up in the middle, that is probably the way it is going to go.  Five nice dogs.  Gloria does it that way. Number two is Exxon, number one is Gentleman's Quarterly, number three is Eastbound and Down and fourth is Ursa Major.

6-9 Bitches

I may have blown the winners in the last class. There is a real disagreement about the winners, but I did what I could. I would check with someone with better credentials.,  It is a real mix here at the table.

 

Michele posted the results and I would listen to him.

6-9 Bitches

Morton is in there now in a pink bow tie. He said he is doing it for breast cancer.  I thought he was just looking sharp.

 

9-12 bitches.  22 in the class, and now for the long exams. I have to admit, I didn't expect to get this old at the show.  Paula is here with HARLEY, one of my all time famous dogs. And Dawn is here too, (Vandyken) looking fantastic too.  What a couple of funny ladies.

 

Morton is still judging.  And I am losing interest. But, I have a job to do, so I am back to the dog show. He has the bitches lined up and makes notes.  I have to admit, no one seems interested.  Here we are in 6-9 bitches and it is 4:00 p.m. Jimmy is wondering and now sitting next to us.  I bought some raffle tickets. If I don't win, I will never do that again.

 

Bob has taken over for Lana Lee. I see dan Dwyer talking to everyone, and I saw Ed this morning, the place is filled already and that is not normal for Wednesday.  But, no one seems to be paying attention.  The individuals aren't that interesting unless someone spooks. And, that isn't happening.  So we are all doing our own thing. 

 

Dick Jones is in the ring, holding the judge's note pad. I haven't seen that before, but I guess the ring is big enough. Only five more individuals to go.  Last bitch for the individual. Now it will get exciting.  I need to wake up. I will have Bob throw some water on me. Then I can sue him.

 

There goes the last group. And I think I will wait to say anything until something happens. 

 

Here they come into the ring. Morton says to bring them in and stop.  In comes the entire class.  No placing, no choices or changes yet.  In they come and entire side of a National ring. I doubt he will do the individuals again, but who knows.  They are walking around again.  Twice around so far and they are going again.  Morton is watching them and finally told them to stop. He gets his notes from Dick and is reading.  He is walking down the line and making more notes as he looks them over.  Morton talks to some of the handler, and is still taking note, but is at the end of the line.  Writing and writing, and now he walks back to the front.  He takes them one more time around and tell them to stop after they take the trip.  Off they go.

 

He wants them to walk and Lenny is in front, so that is what they all do.   Morton watches them pass, not following, but he pulls out Sean and says something to him, and takes him down and back. He must have had a question about it. 
 
Now up goes Leslie, Kent, Sean, Diane, Liz, Lennie, George Olivia, Kelly, Liz, Trevor, and who the hell cares.  They all stay in, but he has eleven to look at again. He takes the end of the group around, still walking.   Second trip around so far.  He tells them to stop and I have to depend on Bob to tell me what is going on. Between the camera operator, Bobby, and Dick Jones, I can't see a thing.  He has 14 left, and looks them over.  Anyone want to know who is there?  He moves Cristie at the end, and he takes Kelly down and back and moves her to Best of Dump.

 

There they go, one big group, walking.  He bring Olivia to sixth, I think she is thrilled.  Now he walks to the front and counts off this group.  He excuses three, I think.  He takes five, walking again.  Liz, Leslie, Kent, Sean and Liz S.  Zoe was here and took Paula to go get a beer.  I would rather go with them, and I don't drink. Morton said, "one last walk".  Only five left from what I can see, but another group. Walking and walking. Morton stops them.  He takes Leslie and Kent down and back.  Now Kent and Jeff Pyle and now Liz and Olivia, and Liz goes into fourth. 

 

This must be near the end, and there they go, with Liz in front, then Leslie, Kent The Other Liz and Jeff and Olivia.  That's it.

9-12 Males

Gloria came by to speak on the video. She looks great.  I got to say hello to Charlotte Funk and now on to the 6-9 Puppy Dogs.

 

Ann Schultz came by, and is walking a puppy.  She is talking to Sam Colvin now, and I saw Big Dave Rinke and Martha.  He can't watch before the puppies but he is here now.  The pups are coming into the ring now and Lana Lee works every minute to keep the video going. I try to hear who the puppies are, but mostly I depend on the catalog. It isn't as cold as it was, so the show is pleasant now.

 

In comes   Dogs, Sylvin, then Lindy, Abbie, Al, Leslie, and lots of others. Too many to name each one.  This is a big class and I will try to count them Bill Peterson came by and is talking to Sandy Lindsay.  19 in the class if I have it right.  Gloria is talking to Tom Mesdag and goes to the first dog.  She is walking down the line, and it takes up one side of the ring.  That is going to be a lot of walking and she is counting.  She is dividing the clss. And sends out all but the first eight.  The rest are just waiting in the wings.

 

Gloria goes to the center and tells them to take a lap.  She brings the first dog out to the center with Slyvin.   Now Lorry, and then Linda.  Individual examinations and no real problems yet.
Gloria is in a long black dress.  Done with the individuals and now starts the judging.

 

She has the first group over by the white wall and is giving them some directions, and send them out to bring out the next group. And now on to the individuals.

 

The arena is full and yet it is quiet. Maybe when it gets later and towards the end, people will wake up. There is a food stand with fresh lamb. It is fantastic. Gloria says take them around and leave space.  She is sorting them out and holds three off to the side, Kent, Alex and  Liz Steifferman.

 

And, on to the third group.  This is like watching specials. Gloria is sorting them out, but this was a big class in there are the last five, not to be outdone by the first 14.  They just put the entry in late.  Trevor is the first out there. He won the Junior last year and turned 18 before I got the Trust Account sent up, so he got the money. I never heard what happened to it.   But, it is up to them.  At least I know they can't drink it up, not being 21.  I might have to reconsider it.

 

The individuals are all done and Gloria tells them to take them around. Gloria looks fantastic, and must be feeling good to look that good. There they go. One of them is limping, but seems to be working it out. 

 

12 absent, and 19 still in. That was one big class.  It started with 31, for those of you who can't count.

 

I miss Twyla, who decided to skip this year. It is a good thing as she took our Army daughter who is in season. Kirk does not do well with a bitch in season, especially if she looks as good as Kisses.

 

Gloria said something to Tish and was smiling. She looks good judging, but she always did.  Now she has another dog in the middle.  Gloria walks the line and looks them over.  She kept three and sent them out.  Now there are twelve, and Gloria takes the first five.  Now the next four.  And, there goes the last three again. Gloria gives them all a good look.  She walks down the line and looks at the first one and wants them down and back.  One at a time.  The first one, now the third one, (not the second), and she takes the third one with Al again.  Now the fourth.  And now the fifth. Maybe I missed the second one.  No, she doesn't go over any more. I guess she has them in some order, or not. She moves Leslie to third.  Now Diane to fourth.  Olivia in front, the Kent, Liz and Sean.  Down and back.  And around they go and where they stop, only Gloria knows.  She is taking them down and back again, and I think we are getting to the end of it.

 

She is looking over her second half, and gives everyone a long look.  Very quiet in here right now.  She excused four and then there were seven.  She has them at the other side of the ring, and there they go except for four that stand and watch.  And, now those four. I think she is getting ready to chose, and I think the ones in there are exceptional.

 

Here we go. Gloria walks over to them and she is at the front, and now she walks to the back and moves Liz to fourth. Leslie in third and Lindsey in second, Sylvin in second Diane in fourth, then Kent Olivia and Al.  She talks to Al and seems to want to see him again, yes, down and back.  This must be his tenth time.  To the front again and she is looking them over. 

 

Off the first two go, Diane with Kent, (actually they weren't in front).  She takes Kent and puts him second in this group behind Liz.  She is taling to Diane.  She has five to work with, Liz, Kent and Diane.  She excuses Olivia and now here are five.  Now Sylvine in front, the Lindsey and then Leslie, and off they go, just the three.  Some crowd reaction.  And they stop at the end and wants something else. I hear here, she wants a loose lead.  The handlers say to the doublers, do nothing.  And they line up next to us.  And Gloria looks them over. 

 

I thinnk she likes these three males and keeps looking them over. 

 

Now she has the next four, led by Lindsey and then Liz, Kent and Diane.    I like Kent's dog, Full Metal Jacket.  But, no one asked me to judge, so it is up to Gloria. She wants them to go again.  Just Sylvain and Leslie.  These six to nine puppies will sleep tonight.

 

Now, on to the others and she pulls Leslie to the front with Glittering Treasure, and then Sylvain with name of the game,a nd she is walking faster and lines them in the center and moves Lindsey to Second.  It is Leslie, Lindsey, Sylvain, Kent and then Liz and Diane.

 

Goria went to get the record and that is it. She says to us, "100%? And that is it.

 

First is Stylefite Alfaro's David B. then second is Jagen-Lenior's Mens Room Red, and third is Harmonia's Name of the Game and fourth is Welove Du Chien's Full Meal Jacket.

Maturity Bitches

In come the Maturity dogs and there they are. What a great looking group, but there are only eight in there.I see a black with Nancy, the first dog out is with Lenny, Maawi Kaleef Von Loar.  I like the sidegate and how he moves him slow.  Now Nancy with Laslar Candia's Black Bart, one of the best breeders in the country.

 

Karen Wagner judging and she moved them around and sent Bart to the front, I think.  No, Nancy just went there.

 

There should be sound on the tape now. 

 

Now it is Can I Trust U with My Heart, and Kent.  I love those names. 

 

Now a Phoenix son, Player of Elite Design.  That is a real handsome male, all dog in type.  Scott on the lead.  Joan Tutthill is here with us, and there goes Scott. 

 

Now Liz with Apollo.  With the microphone on I should be careful of what I said. Like there is any chance of that.  Bob, Lana and myself are eating candy, so we are having a sugar rush. 

 

Diane Brown with Ridley.  I like that dog.

 

Gambino with Bill Tank.

 

Bearly Legal with Cindy Tellefson. It is so good to see Cindy after the show last year. She fell in the ring and broke her ankle and wrist.

 

Karen walks down and gives a pet to each dog, and goes down the backs.  She takes the first four, there they go with Lenny, Kent, Nancy and Scott.  She moves Nancy to second. What a beautiful black.

 

Now the other four, Liz, Diane, bill and Cindy.  Nice dogs.  Diane up to fourth. And, now that four and the whole class and Karen names off four, (not the way it is usually done), the winner of the Futurity Dog is Karizma's Malawi Kaleef Von Loar.

 

I remember when Ben was shown in the Maturity he got third place, behind a Grand Victor in the next year.  I like it when they give four places, even without ribbons and awards.

 

On to Maturity Bitches:

 

This is a full load of bitches.  Eleven in there now. Carolyn Gerganoff just came by and worked on my computer. She is another one who gets younger each year.  Working on collections for DNA. 

 

Karen also looks great as she judges. I had forgotten how many judges we have, so it is interesting to see who goes into the ring each time.

Amateurs

The amateurs are in there with the dogs. Four dogs with four ladies. 

 

We are setting up a microphone for the ring, so everyone can hear. But, we blew out the electricity, and working on a generator, so be patient. 

 

Only four dogs in the amateur dogs, but still some good ones.  Lana Lee and Bob are having way too much fun.  Sharon Newcome by and there goes Tom Brown.  Jake Jahelka is here, and now Bob is working the class.  They seem to do a good job.

 

Liz Steifferman did the wall for the Juniors and it is great to see all those kids. Some not so young any more.  I don't think I was ever that young.

 

It is great to see these amateurs running a ring I couldn't walk around. And the winner is Lyloak's Like aRock.

 

On to the Bitches. Bob told me the Futurity would be littermates, and he also said the Maturity would be the same, s let's see if he knows anything. Nevermind, I already know that fact after sitting with him for over 10 years.

 

Only one amateur Futurity bitch, Adorher Lucky Lucy. So that is the winner.They are checking the microphone, and we just blew a breaker, so we have no power.  Now I see more people. I saw Karen Taylor and Art Sinclair, and Michele just came by.  I see Paul Johnson, and there goes Alex. Bobbie is working, but no power.  Kathy Potter is sitting down, and she said she had some back problems, but seems to move well.

I am blown away by the reception for the Juniors.  There is the great wall with all the stars,and now someone came by from the trials. They had a raffle for the Juniors and just handed me cash for next year.

 

Amazing, how everyone is helping and I sure do appreciate it.

Futurity dogs

They are checking the microphone, and we just blew a breaker, so we have no power.  Now I see more people. I saw Karen Taylor and Art Sinclair, and Michele just came by.  I see Paul Johnson, and there goes Alex. Bobbie is working, but no power.  Kathy Potter is sitting down, and she said she had some back problems, but seems to move well.

 

Sam Colvin is sitting by us, and I got our catalogues, but Tedi is still at the motel.  The handlers are milling about, and I see Lenny and Kent, and there goes Morton with a pink bow tie.

 

There they go in the ring.  Lennie in front, the Leslie, George and Slyvine, Mike, Alex and Kent, and there is Scott with Al in the end, and I can't see but then Zac, and that is the class.  Jane Kerner just topped by and they are checking in everyone and Bob Slay is checking the numbers.  He looks them over as they stack.  That is a great line of dogs.

 

We still have no power and I see Lana Lee is going to try to tell everyone. 

 

There they go, everyone and "Nice and easy" Now the second half of the class. I liked what Mike had and I am watching them against the white wall.  Leslie just gave the "stop" command to the handler.  Mostly we have the dogs, the owners, the handlers and no one else.

 

I haven't seen Kent with such long hair before, and there goes Mike. They each get a pass.  Now Kent.  There goes Alex with a little clapping and now Scott. It is very quiet.  I like his dog, but he is jumping a bit, and there goes Al Martin in a white suit.  Now Zac and that's the end of the class. 

 

Bob is walking down the class and giving everyone along look, the handlers are stacking and pointing out what they want the judge to see, and hiding what they don't want seen. Now Bob goes to the front and is looking at then head on.  Michele is going to put up the catalog on line as soon as he can.

 

He is doing the individuals now, and so far, no problems. Of course they were all winners, so it isn't going to be a problem.  A nice group of young dogs.  Bob isn't pushing them, and so long as they stand, he is fine.  There goes Kent, and he has Marquis Finnick Odair, and so far no problems.

 

Al Martin and there goes another check, and no problems and then Zac.  A good loose lead test, and no problems that I can see.  Now the individuals.   Pam Stoesser is talking to Lana Lee.  We are three at the table, Bob, (The Voice of The National), me and Lana Lee. 

 

Individuals and a pass for everyone.  Summer said to say hello to everyone.  WE JUST GOT POWER.

 

The seats are staring to fill in the seats. Michele is trying to get on line.  I have it worked out, but so far he can't do it. I am on line.  There goes Leslie with Elite Design Avalon V Tokaye Derschimer.  Nothing much happening here, and Kennelwood's Man U man gets some applause.

 

I did get to see Bubba J and Icon this morning so my day started out well. The crowd liked Man U Man and it is starting heat up here now.  I hear that Lana Lee is announcing the names, so I won't.

 

Paula just got here with Harley.  Harley loved me, and jumped and barked. That is a good feeling.  My computer just told me that I can't connect, so I will send when I finish the class.  I just sw Barrett Jackson, and he is a good one too.  Back in line and Bob splits the class and there go the first five. Lenny, Leslie, George, Sylvine and Mike.  Now the next group, with Kent, Alex, Scott, Al and Zac.  Where are the new people?

 

He icks Leslie, George Mike and Alex.  They go to the corner and everyone else goes out.  Now the handlers are taking off the bibs, and I guess he is bringing in the bitches and so some of the handlers have to leave to get their bitches.  So we have as keepers Kennelwood's Man U Man, Tr's Jager V Whitside Ya Gotta Know When To Hold Em, and California Dreaming. That is the males.

 

They moved the electricity to a generator, and so we are back on line and the video is going out.  Now the bitches are in the ring. They line up, in front is Al Martin.  Michael Cheeks is here and I see Tedi is here now.  She brought the candy but left it in the car. There go the bitches, the first group.  And now for the rest. And they line up with Kelly in front, then Kent, Nancy, Bill Tank, Zac, Art, and Lindsey.  I just asked Bob who was behind Nancy and he asked me "on the dam's side or the sire?"  No one likes a wise ass.  I see Ann Schultz, and Scott has her bitch or at least the bitch seems to know her, Hylowe's I Saw Her Standing There of Edan. There goes Hold on To the Memories and very very nice bitch.  Some fast stepper in the rest of the class, but also some great looking girls.  I do like Foothills Looking So Good of Ben-Jo, and Mike with Kennelwood's Morning Jewel gets some sound and I like her too.

 

Michael is on line, so the catalog will be up in a minute.  There goes Legend's Kensington, and She takes a good stride. And now back to the beginning of the class.  Bob does another temperament test and sends them each to the other corner. So far everyone has passed, and I thinnk this is his temperament test on a loose lead and so far no problems.  There goes Kelly and her bitch all but pulls her to Bob.  Ben Bigornia goes by and Ken's bitch is happy to see Bob, and there is Nancy, NO PROBLEM. And Bill Tank, and now Zac.  Art is there with another sound bitch. Karen Taylor is here and Ben is trying to protect Bob. And everyone passed.

 

On to the individuals.  The fans just came on, and there is a real draft, and cold. But, the dog shows go on. If Bob weren't between us, I could hear Lana name the entries.  THE CATALOG IS UP.

 

Tom and Vivian are here and sitting, and it is quiet and the individuals are not that exciting.  Plenty of seating and the crowd likes Lennie's bitch Martinique, I think. The ring is so big, I can't see that far, but I can see them against the wall, and some great ones here.  Laurie has Looking So Good of Ben-Jo, and I like her. The Futurity dog class was nice and we should have a great one for the winner. Scottie with I Saw Her Standing There of Edan, and the crowd likes her, and so do I.  Lida Kurry came by to say she is doing well, and there goes Kent. 

 

Frank Fasano is here with a pink tie.  There goes Lilley the only Icon daughter.  She sure can move, and Kirk and Icon put on the movement.  There goes Art.  Linda Bankhead is here, and she and her mother and the best looking mother/daughter combination I have ever seen.  Joe Baccia is here now, and there goes Legend's Kensington, and that is a great package, moving slow for a change. 

 

They line up, half the class.  There goes the hald class with Kelly in the lead, Kent, Nancy, bill, Zac, Art, and one more with Lindsey. He pulls Hold on To The memories, Ca-She Katharine Hepburn, Vista of Aramist Peters Elite, Vista of Aramist Peters Elite and Morning Jewel.

 

Now we have four bitches and four dogs. Now for the dogs.

 

Leslie, George, Mike and Alex. California Dreaming, Jager V Whitside, Man U Man and Ya Gotta Know When to Hold Em.  In from is Ya Gotta Know When To Hold Em. That is a great group of four, and now in front is Jager with George, and he pulls them over to take them down and back.  George stand him and Bob puts him over.  And now Man U Man. I like both of the two in front.  Mike stands him and now Alex, When to Hold Em.  I could go with any of these. Leslie has a popular dog with California Dreaming, and he leaves them that way and off they go.

 

Each dog takes a pass, and the crowd seems divided, and some cheering now.  I don't hear a favorite. Bob comes to    Lookk at them, and he is studying them stacked, goes to the front.
 And that is it, Man U Man, and his half brother pushed him.

 

I know the catalog is up, but he is a Wolf Creek Phoenix son, and that dog sure can produce.

 

Now on to the bitches.  Here they are.

First of the day

Seven in the morning, and we have a table.  Few people here, but I have my table, Bobbie is here with me, and they are setting up the system.

 

The ring looks fantastic. I am facing the "white wall" and the follards are up and great grass.  It is silent in here, and me and the workers are together, they are bringing a bigger table, it is six foot and they said they will get us a nine footer.  Lana Lee is behind us in the area, so it is going to be extra fun. Bob (The Voice Of The National) just got here now.  He got here at five.

 

I saw Icon first thing this morning, and he remembered me, and jumped on me.  That made my day. The first dog I saw was Bubba J, and he looks great. I think it might be between him and Koby, I love both of them. I also think Icon could be up there, but I may be just having Asgard dreams. 

 

A few more people are starting to wonder in, and I saw Bud Drew at breakfast, and sat with Debbie Hokanan.  I don't know what she is doing, but she looks ten years younger than she did. Speaking of age, Jane Kerner looks like a kid.

 

I had a terrible time getting on line. LanaLee is here now. I bought a portable hot spot, so I finally used that, and it is working. Amazing stuff.

Tuesday at the show

We had a dog show.

 

What a perfect day f or a dog show, topped by dinner with my best friends, Jane, Liz, Pam and Jeff and the young lady who owns Kisses' sister, whose name I am too tired to think of.  We argued about everything and solved nothing as normally we do.  Pizza and fun, with the day full of dogs.

 

Celeste and Pat made it and were at the show, they enjoyed the drive.  It must be nice to be young. I saw Lindsey, speaking of young, and Georgie, and of course Jimmy.  I got to talk a bit with Kent and Liz Oster both looking great.  I saw Michele Ebertson checking in, so he made the trip.  Terri Stout had Ruby there, and she is looking great.  There were so many people to see and places to go.  I will try harder tomorrow.

 

The arena is about ready, and they were putting the finishing touches on it.  There is a wall of Juniors, and it made me feel funny to read my message about why I did the Juniors award, and proud too. I hope to make it even bigger next year.

 

I ran into Bobby and his beautiful secretary Sandy at the arena, and also talked to Bob (The Voice of The National) Drescher there. We are ready to go and ready to rumble, whichever comes up.  I don't know where they plan to put us, but we are going to insist on chairs.

 

I am planning to go over early and get set up. I want to be sure there is internet or if not, that the unit I bought works, so that everyone can listen to my nonsense. I promise to say nothing of importance.

 

At the show the Canadian Grand Victor went Winner's dog, Billyjo's Man In Black and his sister went Winner's Bitch Billyjo's Through The Looking Glass.  Selects were Grand Champion Asgard's Constant Craving and Grand Champion .454 Casul of Richeterslust.  All in all, a good day, a great location and some excellent dogs.

 

Wednesday we get serious, and it looks like another great national ahead.  More to come as I learn how to type.

Temperament Test

Early Tuesday morning

I woke up this morning in New Jersey.  I have no idea why I wake at 5:00 a.m. every morning, no matter what time zone I am in.  I have learned to live with it.

 

Tedi Liz and I had breakfast with Libby Cameron and Ed, and I also got to talk to Kathy Potter for a minute. Then we went to the arena. I saw a big dirt floor, (not to be confused with a Big Dirt Nap) and they were putting down sod. The sod is thick and soft.

 

The handlers have big posters on the side of the arena. There is a wall of Junior Handlers with their names and a star. I found Summer and it was a great picture of her with Kirk. I have to admit, I miss them both. I thought about telling someone to put Kirk on a plane. It is too quiet here in the room.

 

The park is like them all. I walked out to see the Temperament test but they hadn't started yet. The arena is about ten minutes from the hotels and I saw Zoe for a minute. She was in a rush. Nancy Harper was there and we exchanged a hug. I saw Pam Stoesser this morning and I love the look of her new puppy.  Jane Kerner is here but I haven't seen her yet.  Carolyn Putnum was at the arena, but not set up yet.  Jeff Mobeus and Jane drove in with five dogs.  That is dedication.

 

We came back to the room rather than work the arena, and will head out again for the Show before the Show.  I see the entry is about 20/20 with but five Specials. I know that Ruby is one of the Specials so it will be fun to see her again after a year. I wonder if she will remember me at all?

 

Nothing exciting yet. The work for GV is Kobe or Bubba J, and if either of them have a great day, it could happen.

Monday evening in New Jersey

I don't know if this will get to the Blog, but it indicates the trip into Philadelphia.

We got up at two a.m. to make it to the airport. I had arranged for my office manager to meet us at the office and drop up off at John Wayne airport.  She was to meet us at five a.m.  When she wasn't there, I called her at home. It seems she was so worried about oversleeping that she got up at one, two and three, then over slept and was woken by my phone call. She got to the office a bit late, but we made our flight. When we got to Chicago, we found the 45 minute connection didn't matter, (see above).

 

We met Liz in Chicago, and flew in with Tom and Vivian.  I had a bit of a dust up at the airport about a rental car. I won't go into details, but I ended up going to another service and only doubled my costs.

 

But, we are here, saw Jimmy and Linda Fox.  Saw some nice dogs already at the hotel, and now am anxious to see a dog show.

 

The host hotel is OK, but nothing special.  All I have seen so far of New Jersey is woods and an Applebee's where we had dinner.

 

I purchased a portable hot spot in case there is no internet in the building, so I will test it tomorrow.  It seems simple enough, but it took the salesman an hour to make it work.  Now we will see how it does it with me. Of course I have Michel and Bob at the announcer's table with me, and one of them will understand it.

 

Life is nothing but excitement.

The Sunday before the trip

Tomorrow we leave for the Big Show.  I plan to pack some time before we leave at four in the morning, like a normal man.

 

This should be an interesting year. Not only is it the 100th celebration of our club, but one with a number of different judges. So, there should be a difference of opinions as to our standard.  It will be a challenge for us to figure out what is going on, and I will do the best I can to describe it in the Blog.

 

Again we get the streaming video, and while I have never seen it, I understand that Lana Lee does include some comments.  So, you have another opinion.

 

I have enjoyed hearing of the road trips, and hope everyone makes it a safe ride, and for those of us flying in, the same. I have heard of so many who will not be going, but also those who are attending.  There will be new people, old friends, new ones to be made, and laughs each day.

 

Again the GSDCA has ended another year with the most well respected breed in the country. We have fought over the Whites, the Judges, the Locations, and now we can pull togther to enjoy the celebration of what we have developed in 100 years.

 

I will be posting again from the East, and am looking forward to getting off that damn plane.
