Futurity Bitches and BIF

Now Dan with the bitches.  This might take a while ten in there.  Kris Frasano is sitting with me, so I have to be careful what I say, she knows the truth.  Dan takes them around and I like what Scottie has and there are some nice ones in there.  Bill Basu has an all black, she is too wound up, but I think she is a good one.  Michel took the catalog with him, so I don't know who anyone is.

 

Dan takes the first group of six, and the first is a sable, a real good looking bitch.  OK, since I have to be honest, I don't think Kirk would have won the Futurity. But, he would have looked good.  Scottie is out in the middle of the ring with a sable that is a great looking type.  He knows how to pose her, or she is that good.  Nice outline in movement.

 

Now Georgie comes in, and Tish Wyle just walked by. Jimmie came to say hello and shake, it was good to feel a warm hand. It is cold in here and sunny outside. The heat hasn't gotten to the building yet.  Lauren is here to double something, but I can't tell what.  I like the side-gait on Georgie's bitch.   I do miss Paul and Jennifer, I need Paul to make this a real show.

 

Charlotte Funk stopped to say hello, and moved on.  The handlers are running full out, and no one seems to complain.  Another reason why I should never do a national.  Carole Moore is here with a real cut puppy.  Alex came by, and he is smiling as always.

 

There they go, one at a time.  Ileana is here now, and talking to us all.  Another bitch goes around, and tries to cut the ring, but Georgie won't allow it.  A real good pass against the white wall, and there goes the next one. I do like Paige and so does the crowd but I would want to slow her down.  Can walks to the front of the ring, and tells them down and back.

 

Michel went to take a break. It is going to be a while, but everyone is getting a good look.  Now much crowd involvement yet.   He moves Stella in second behind Gone With The Wind, and that is the only one he moved in this group, and there goes Paige. Dan moves her in front, YES!

 

Now on to the second group. The Gus, then Art, JR, Bill and Cindy.  All the California bitches.  Frank Fasano and Ann Schultz are hugging next to me, a lot of power from the breed right there. Karen Taylor is standing next to us now and so is Alex.  Dan is done with the second group.

 

I took a break to take a break. Did you miss me?  Now again, one at a time, and there goes The Guz with Bella.  Now Art with Wicked, then JR with High Noon, JR with Classic In Black, and Cindy with Animus Girl. All the California bitches. Bob Moore is here now.

 

Dan goes to the front and takes them all down and back.  He moves Bill up to third with Classic In Black.  And he moves Cindy up to fourth in this group with Animus Girl. Dan walks over to the microphone and tells us that "our future is great, but he will do his best" and he puts Bella in Front followed Paige, then Gone With The Wind and the fourth is Stella.  He is considering these four and off they go, using the whole ring as instructed. And the crowd is into it.  Dan moves Gone With The Wind to the second place.  Now he wants to see the rest, I don't think it is going to make any difference, but there they go, four together and Dan tells them to sit out the dance, and he looks at the last three, with dreams about to be dashed, yes, Dan tells them to rest and GIVES IT TO THE GUZ WITH JAGAN LENLOR'S SOLIKEHAPPY.

 

Now Best in Futurity. There goes the dog with Nancy.  I think Solikehappy is going to be the crowd favorite.  I do like that dog, League of His Own.  WOW do I like those two winners. I have watched Bella a lot, but I never saw Dave's dog.  The crowd does like Bella.  Dan watches them And he turns and he points to Bella.

FUTURITY DOGS

 

In they come eight, and he breaks them into two groups.

 

I just know that Kirk would have won this all. First is Scottie, then Tish Kent and Mike. Those are a good looking group of dogs and I see some great ptential in there.  I like the Aragon son Kent has, and now that he is standing right in front of me, I like him even more. Now for the individuals. All the double handlers are in front of me. 

 

He is on to the second group.  They are good looking dogs and the second group is Alex, JR, Nancy and Channing.  Bob is getting smarter and staying in the middle of the ring, and having all the dogs come to him. JR is going out there now.

 

I hear the streaming video is going out well and it is good to watch.  OMG there is a temperament problem and the dog is going to be excused. I feel bad for JR, and it is a great looking dog, buat maybe too young.   It is Hitman, and I know the dog and he will come around.  But, not today.

 

The National is one show on one day with one judge. You do need to be ready for anything. I again wish Kirk were here, and I have to admit I wish Summer were here to show him.  But, otherwise it is a good day.  I just saw Joey Perez, and he has been working out.   Channings dog jumped up on Bob to kiss him.  I think that temperament will be OK.  Bob does love the dogs and I think they realize it. At least Jack Bauer Tebe Nobe does.  All the individuals are done. 

 

They all come out and line up, now there are seven.  These doublers are serious and I see Jimmie is here telling Kent what to do.  Kent listens.  Jimmie and Sheree ar both talking to Kent now. He listens to them both. They are all in front of me.  He pulled Scottie in front then Nancy and looks at the rest and tells them to take them around on a loose lead. So far no one has been doing it.  There go the other five and they still go too fast, but slower.  Bob tells them to stand aside, I don't think he is much for those five. Now he has two League of His Own and Dennis The Menace. He moves League Of His Own in front and there they go, and Nancy is going hell bent for leather, and she lets him go and YES, It's Dennis The Menace.

Amateur Bitches and Dogs

It must be Wednesday since I am at the show.  I just heard that the open mike is getting everything that is being said, so I warned everyone.  They did the parade of clubs and now the amateur futurity, and it is show time.

 

I see Bob Dressher in the ring, and got to talk to him for just a minute. Bobbie is putting a mark in the ring to get them to pose there, and here comes Dan Smith.  Lots of people in the ring today, and everyone is ready.   Now it sounds and looks like a dog show.

 

Bob Dressher is so distinguished looking in a black suit and with that gray hair. After sitting with him at the announcer's table for twenty years or so, it seems strange to come to the national without exchanging jokes.

 

Just one dog in the first class, Amateur Futurity, two absent.  I hear The Guz behind me, but I can't see him.  The dog in the ring is Eithan.    The handler looks so serious, and I guess it is tense at the show.  The crowd gives her some cheer, and that is a first.

 

1.   ANIMUS EITHAN

 

Now Amateur Futurity Bitches.

 

Two in the class, two young girls.  I wonder how they like this ring, it is open to full and they use it all.  I see Art Sinclair at the end of the ting with a tie, so he must be showing today.  Dan talks to the ladies and walks to the center ob the ring and takes them around. Debbie Friedberg just walked by.  It makes me feel better to see the handlers breathing heavy. Dan has them stop and let them stand on a loose lead.  There is a gold circle in the center of the ring.  Eric Norby is doubling the bitch.  Eric has a new haircut, a brush cut as we used to call them, and it looks god on him. 

 

Ann Schultz came by and told me the terrible story of trying to fly out of Detroit. They insisted of 700 crate, and then the plane wouldn't take it. What a mess, and on the flight back, they can't take it either. She is not happy, but at least she is here, and so is the dog after 17 hours in a crate.

 

There go the two amateurs and Dan is looking at them from the center of the ring and watches them all the way. He is having them go past the white wall and walks over to them. He loks at them and gives them direction they are huffing and puffing, and he reverses them and off they go. Sandy Anderson jsut came by with a big smile, and Dan watches his bitches and walks over to them, If he keeps standing in the middle, it is going to be along week for him. Now, down and back.   They stand free.  Dan gives them another direction and he heads to the middle, and they take a trip one at a time.  Two bitches, and plenty of experience, maybe that is a good thing. Dan walks back over again. He is getting a workout too.

 

Dan tells the double handlers to back off, and talks to the exhausted handlers and walks back to the center.  The girls are taking a breath and I wonder how many times they can do this.  Off the one goes with some crowd support.  The whole ring and she is starting to take dee breaths, and yes the crowd likes her.  Dan walks over again and looks them over, and stands there to look and he goes over with his hands the second bitch and moves her in front of the other. The crowd likes that.  And Dan walks again to the center and they take another trip, Dan watches them and Yes, that's it.

Dan waves off the double handler for the individual. I am not sure why he is doing it again, but there it is.  Jackie Pillipant came by and it is going to be a long day.  Georgie walked by and said hello, and Bart is here in a lumberjack shirt.

 

Dan did a full exam on the dog again and now he moves to the bitch.    Bob had done the dog, so Dan did the full thing, as he should.

 

He looks them over and gives it to the dog.

Now on to the amateur Maturity dogs and bitches.

 

Mr. Dressher is back in the ring and Bill Basu and Richard Sottille came walking by solving the problems of the world. Again, I am so sorry we don't have Kirk her for his Futurity.  Maybe I can convince the board that if I didn't show him this year, I can show him next year in the Futurity.  Anyone want to vote on that?

 

Two in there and they both look like good ones, one an all black.  Bob takes them around and he too is in the center of the ring.  They have the ring open for the futurity and it is too big for these kids.  Iliana came by, and Bob is doing the individual on the black.  I see Scottie is here and he knew to come a bit later.  Kennie Cunningham is stading watching, I see he has gooming stuff and is calling the dog.  Very subtle however.     And off he goes. Channing Sheets if off to the side waiting for the real show to start.

 

Kennie is grooming the black, so either he is just very friendly or knows the dog.  Sheryll Brocket just walked in front of me, and I saw Rodger earlier.  Bob Freeny is here and gave me a video of Big Boy, Mike and Judd running together. I can't wait to view that one.

 

Iza Kabuska was talking to me, and told me about her move. I seems strange to think of her in the South.  I see Sheri Moses with a dog, and Bob moves the second dog into first.  The kids are breathing hard, and Bob looks them over from the front and seems to be looking at feet.  And gives them directions to take a lap. They each take a deep beath and Bob walks towards them as they go by the white wall and that's it.

So far only two and they take a full lap when no one is watching. Mike Cheeks is here and refuses to say anything.  He has nothing to fear from me.  Ben Bigornia is walking by and isn't dressed to show, but with him, he might be.  Carole Moore came by and is watching the crowd.  We are about ten steps down from the seats so I don't get to talk to anyone. Zoe came by to say hello and tells me what went on with her computer.  Max Thompson came by carrying the trophies.

My aunt who is 97 just sent me a post she is stuck in Ireland and someone stole her money and could I send her $1400 to get home.  I sent her a post to correct her syntax and spelling. My sister called me to warn me. I had it figured out, however.

 

Dan is doing his thing and had gone over the dog, so it can't be much longer.  Dave Coleman is walking by with some awards, so he is working.  Dan back brushes the dog's back and feels the bitches leg. Go figure.  He stands back, rubs his chin, and sends the dog around, there goes Ike.  And they both take off and another trip in dog land and a big ring for them. Dan is ready, walks over towards them and they come to a stop. He walks up to them and he walks up to the dog and is looking at him from the front and tells him to go down and back. She listens to Dan, and does what he says. Good move.  Only half a ring, however.  Now Dan goes to the bitch and tells her down and back too, and there she goes.  And back.

 

Dan looks them over and gives the bitch handler some instructions and she takes her in a different direction down and back. Dan looks her over and gives it to the dog.

Wednesday before the show

I just had breakfast with JR, Dave Coleman and Louie.  It is cold here, but they say it is going to warm up again.  We were trying to solve all the problems of the dog world, and we got through most of them. There are few that we still need to work on.

 

This show is missing Joan Fox, and now and then she would even bring Murray, my favorite person.

 

I got a call from Paula, she wanted to ride over with me, so I get to see Harley again. Bill Bergraff said that Harley Davidson the motorcycle company might sponsor the World Trials. I always thought of Harley Davidson as the German shepherd of the motorcycles.  That should be a good fit.

 

I did get to say a few words to Trish last night, and I saw Jammie. She did another great job of judging. The entry was small, but the quality was good.  And she always makes it look like she is having a good time.

 

The ring is large, and they have sawdust on the edges so the dust is minimal. The footing looks good and no one has complained.  I am sorry we don't have Kirk her, and even more so without Summer, she would  have had a great time at the National.  There are a lot of people waiting to see her, not so much Kirk.

 

It is strange to be at a National without a dog.  Paula lets me visit Harley now and then, so that helps.  Today I have to pick up 14 seat tickets, and only Tedi knows who they go to. So, I may just ignore it.  There are plenty of seats without reserving them.  And with the smaller entry, I doubt it will be a problem.  I saw Kathy Potter yesterday and did get to congratulate her, and I can't wait to see how the dog looks this year.

 

This should be a great day with all the Futurity/Maturity and young dogs.  I can leave in another 14 minutes.

 

I watch the miners being saved from the mine. Am I so crazy that I saw it like whelping a litter. The first one came out alive, yeah. Now another one, and another, and they are all breathing and strong.  I wonder if anyone there feels that way?

Reflections

I can't help reflect on so many that weren't here.

Mostly without Tedi it is a very different National. She keeps me grounded and tells me what I want to do, so I don't have to think about it. She stayed home with the three week old litter, they are all doing great, but I am sorry she missed this show.

 

Helen Fisher should be here as should Rita, I miss her laugh.  Ed Barritt is always important at our shows, and he is not here.  I sure do miss my  crazy friends from Wisconson, Jane Kerner always makes me laugh.

 

A show is not a show without Tom and  Vivian, and where is Tami when we need a cheerfull face?  Of course, Peggy Douglas isn't with us, and that is a shame.

 

Jack Newton needs to be here with Maryloo, and I know so many others that aren't at the Big Show.

 

Maybe some of them will be there today, I wish the show was about to begin.

Final reflections of the day

The reception was great, but we got a bit loud. It was good to see Judy Tidel, and we laughed about the old days. I took Louie back to the motel, and turned in.

 

The judges need to move the dogs against the white wall, not the other side.

We need number bibs, at the national no one can read arm bands.

It needs to be posted as to times, no one seemed to know the show started at one o'clock.

They have asked me to do voice over for Bob Lindsey's video, but then I can't do the Blog. I will see if there is a way to work it out.

I will run from the Blog to put the winner's names on Bob's tape, but I was asked to do a running commentary.  I don't see how I can do that.  But, I will investigate it.

I hope some are enjoying the Blog, it is not easy, and it still is fun for me.

 

I am exhausted, and will need to find a way to rest more. Maybe the next few days will not be so rushed.

Best of Breed on Tuesday

Now the open bitches and another exciting class.  Five, WOW!

 

Peggy Kurtz came by and said hello to Twyla and me.  I feel so important.   Jodie in front, then Jeff, Bill Basu, Olivia and Jennereau.  Only one absent in the class, it is huge, and I don't know how she will handle such a big group.

 

It looks like the biggest class might be Specials.  23 total bitches. The dogs were a five point major so bitches might be the same.    I will have to ask someone who knows, I don't.   Collette Skinner is here checking on the point count, so she is finding out for us.  It is five points in bitches too.

 

There are two blacks in here, unless Bill's is a bi. I can't tell from here.  Jamie moved Jeff to second and she looks them over and stands back again.  Now she goes to the front and looks at each do from the front.  One thing we need for this show is large arm bands. From the stands you can't see the numbers. Maybe we need bibs like for the National.

This is one of the high points of the show.  They pose, not Bob, and Jamie takes a look and there goes Donna Callabreze, and I see Georgie standing in front of me, and Jammie is doing the stare and now the walk and there she goes and she isn't done.  Evidently Lana Lee said this is the Open class, but they are from the winners so I guess it is winners. Tedi was talking to Twyla and admitted I was right, it is winners not Open.  Make a note of that, I am so seldom right.

 

I thought Jamie was done, but no, she is still working them. She takes the first three and looks hard, with some crowd involvement.  And that is the Winner's Bitch.

Seven specials with Winner's Dog and Winner's Bitch for a mighty class of nine. This is just like a small national. Tish Wyle is here and got here yesterday. I saw Dean a little bit ago.  Jamie took off her shoes, and I didn't notice, but she does seem shorter. 

 

I spent a few minutes talking to Ellen Migliore.  She looks great as always. They are doing the individuals, and a lot of good ones here. Ann Schultz's dog isn't here, and I think a lot of people were looking for him.  It is a quiet as it was this morning, I think maybe people have left.

 

Scottie and I have been talking and he is always so kind.  Another person who never seems to get older.

 

Jamie is going over the dogs and I can't tell who is who, since I can't read the numbers. By now I can't read the screen, which probably explains what I have been sending.  I was just told that Bobbie Kindy is in the air, and will be here tomorrow. Big news.

 

Jamie is working the class, and has them divided into males and bitches.  She works them in groups of three.  There they go. Jamie is still barefoot, and seems to be making a decision. She looks them all over and holds her hands behind her back and takes the males together, four of them. Kent has my favorite, but I can't tell who anyone is because I can't read the numbers.

 

Jamie walks back to look over the bitches and takes the winner's dog and winner's bitch together, and now the bitch specials.

 

She walks over to the group and puts Olivia in front with Fire and Ice and Kent is now in second and Laurie in third, but now she puts Laurie in Second, so I think Laurie has the Winner's dog and will be Best Of Winners and There Is The Walk, and YES, it's:

American Bred Bitches

AMERICAN BRED BITCHES

 

There is a real class here with seven in there. It is amazing at what it takes to get exciting, and the crowd is going wild. First is Kelly, then Bill, Loren, JR, someone I can't see, then Nancy and Sharlonna. There they go and it is good to see a whole group at one time.  I love the way they hug the rope, but it makes for a long run.

 

The Famous Linda Battistoni picked her seats from the 15 Tedi ordered. I went and picked up the tickets to get the tickets. We can get the first series today, and then the seats tomorrow.  I guess it makes sense somewhere in the world.

 

Illeana is walking around and we got to say howdy at one time.  There are more people here and I just found out I have another job for the national. When Bobbie finishes his taping of each class, I am supposed to grab the microphone and announce into his tape who the winners are.  Michele is going to help me by making his catalogue, (with big print) and then I will run to Bobbie, then back to the computer to post it.

 

Paula has committed to helping me with Specials on Saturday, so that should be interesting. We work well together, but mostly laugh all the time.  I promise to do the best I can. Ann Thompson is talking to Bob Grady, and it is a most relaxed National. No one is complaining and Lew Bunch even is laughing again. It is good to see him.  Nadine Grady is giving out the tickets, and it is a steady flow. I never did understand why we get tickets to get tickets.  Twyla just came by to talk.

 

I did show her a card trick and she liked it.  Kent ran by with a bitch, I suppose she is in Open.

I am having a hard time keeping my interest up, but I just had a good corn dog, so life is good.

 

There are thre BRED BY EXHIBITOR BITCHES in th ring, with Cindy Tellefson in front, Ben Bignoria in second and Lorene in third.  One is absent.

 

Jamie is looking them over and walks up to them and has her hands behind her back and takes the first one out. She is doing a real loose lead test and does fault bad tet get a chance to talk. There is a lot of problems with temperament. It is surprising with this small an entry, that there is some that do not stand.  It is not loud in here, so that is now what it is, just young dogs and I am surprised what is going on.

 

This would not be much of even a local show, but at the national it is a shame.  When the Winner's Dog class came in, they looked like a top quality group. So, Jamie is doing a perfect job.  Bill Basu came by and is ready to handle.  The bitch in the ring did try to "mouth" the judges hand, and then is pulling away. I doubt she will last, and she stays in.  I think Jamie is not going to break a major if there is one.  Sam Israel is walking by and I just got to say hello to Jinnie Altman and Debbie Hokanan.  Sam seems busy, and so we didn't talk, and there they are, three in place.

Winners dog and Open

Open Dogs, the big class, the whole smear, the big deal, the important ones, the best of the best, and the top of the world. Three dogs.

 

First is Nancy, then JR and Cindy.  This is like a local show. Bobby is here and still in shorts.  He has a new t-shirt, in black and white. I did get one of the purple ones.   Bob has asked and I have agreed that I will announce on his tapes the winner's each class for the rest of the week. Then he will take the microphone into the ring and have the judge talk about the dogs.

 

It isn't too interesting to watch anyone judge three dogs.  Jamie makes it look good, but it is a show I could judge. I would be willing to judge a national if this were the entry.  Not that anyone asked.

 

That is it, and now for half an hour break after winner's dog.

I see Scottie is here and there go the winner's. That is a very very good group.  Cappy just told me not to work so hard.  But Jammie is doing the work.  She stands and looks at them and tells the three lower class dogs to take a trip around. They are good ones, and it was a small entry but good dogs. Cindy, in front, with the 12-18 sof.

 

She brings the 6-9into fourth.

 

22 dogs were shown. And there they go with the Open Dog in front, then Kent and Laurie.  Nancy has the Open Dog and Jamie is looking at Kent (his dog).  She moves Laurie up to second with the Novice Dog Class, that was shown by Nancy, who remains in front. Then it is Kent in third. She takes the two Laurie and Kent, and the   crowd is a bit behind them, and Jamie is looking at them closely.  She brings them to a stop.  She keeps the order, and Nancy has her dog posed perfectly, and signals her double handler and there they go now just the two, Lauie and Nancy. They hug the ring ropes and Jamie walks over to them, and she tells Laurie to take the lead.  Now it's Laurie, Nancy and Kent. That sort of surprised me, but I am typing, not judging.  And there they go all together, and Jamie has the walk and then points to the sable from Novice dogs.

American Bred Dogs

American Bred dogs, and Lindsey is in front, that is the young lady that I think is just a kid. Then Kent, Georgie and Channing.  Four, a big class.  This is strange, and with Jamie, a good judge, I don't know what is going on with the entry. I guess everyone has an opinion.

 

The entire Bred By Class was absent, so if I got it wrong, so be it.  Blame it on Flower Boy.  Another duck call in this class and I see Bob Freeny with Richard Sottile on the other side of the ring.  It is a bit cold in here now.

 

I just found out I am not at the host hotel.  I didn't know that.  I may try to find it for the hospitality tonight, or I may stay in and watch reruns of Gilligan's Island.  Lindsey's dog is trying to take down the white wall.  Linda Curry is walking by. She got me to help with the CGC test. I got to be the passive stranger, not an easy job for me. Then I went to watch herding and that is always fun to see. It was the first test, so many of the dogs took a bit, but did seem to get it.

 

Bret Taylor stopped. I told him that Reacher could take Spencer any day. It is a manly thing.

 

Olivia came by, and she just gets better looking every year.  Carolyn Martello is talking to Frank at the end of the ring, and I did get to talk to her earlier today.  Joyce Eberts is talking to The Guz, and I am bored, as if anyone cared. From the crowd, I am not the only one.

 

I walked up to the top of the ring and saw Dave Rinke, Paul Johnson and Dan Dwier. We discussed the fact that we were all here without wives.  Not that it matters at our ages. It isn't the same without Tedi to yell at me, and tell me what I want to do.  But, I have to admit I do worry about the puppies so I am glad she is home to care for them

 

And, Jamie has decided that is the way they are going to be, and they come by and she places them.

Novice Dogs

NOVICE and one absent, so only three in the class. Frank Fasano came by and I told him it is too late, the votes are in so he doesn't have to be nice to me any more. I think he will be a good addition to the board, and I hope he gets it.

 

There they go thre, with Nancy in front, then Kent and Julie.  Crosstimber's Blackjack is absent.
 His brother was in the prior class.

 

The Guz is here now, so we can go ahead with the show. He isn't dressed to show, so he must just be here to work the crowd.  He told me he had to fly in this morning and so he didn't know the show started late, or he could have shown.

 

Jamie doing her thing, and I suspect she is dissapointed in the entry, but the quality is good.  There is some crowd reaction now, and maybe people have woken up.  The handlers are using the whole ring.  I see Paula watching the show. I understand Harley is not being shown, but he took two more Best Of Breed wins on the way to the show, and is going to one more show  on the way home.

 

I see Barbara and Stacy in the crowd. They are so intent on the show, it is surprising with so few dogs to watch.  Bill Basu is all suited up and ready to go.  I don't think he is looking for Kirk. Kirk is home.  It was an executive decision. Meaning Tedi decided.

Jeff in front, then Kent, JR, and Jenereau with Sandy Anderson's dog, and I know I screwed up his name.  But, I don't have Tedi to tell me so.  I do like the all black with Kent, and it is hard for me to see an all black.  Sally Radabush is sitting with us now, and marking her catalog.  Georgie is here now working on the crowd.

 

Jamie is giving Kent some special instructions.  And he takes him slow, the crowd likes that one.  An all black with real style.   Georgie came by to talk to me. He told me he is 52 now, and I told him in another year I will be 70.  Lindsey came by and her mother reminded me that I thought she was a Junior when she was 22. She still looks like a Junior.

 

 

 

Jamie is checking dogs, and there may be one that doesn't get a ribbon, but then he collects himself.   She keeps doing the individuals, and this is going fast.  She has moved them to the center of the side, so they have to use the whole ring.  But, she is still watching them on the other side from the white wall.  Kelley Sevales came by and she still looks like a kid to me. But so do most of them.

 

Jamie did all the individuals, and they are still in the order they came in. She is only working three, I think she may have decided to not accept the temperament on the other one.  WOW!  They use the whole ring, and That's it.  She did not give a ribbon to the temperament problem but didn't excuse the dog.

6-9 puppy dogs

I got moved, and I am sitting with Michele, and he is going to show me how to put the names on my machine without having to type them in.

 

Sandy Anderson is here and looks great.  I saw Susan and told her how good the ad for Harley looked.  She was talking to Dania. I had lunch with Loretta White, and JR just came by.  Darlene Ghiglari came by to get a candy bar.

 

They are starting to gather at the end of the ring. I talked to Kent for a minute and did get to hug Jammie, who always looks great, and does today too.  I see Bob Grady in the ring now in a green jacket with an orange and blue tie. He is talking to Max now.  I won't be sitting at the announcer's table this year, that might be a good thing.  Rick Whelker is on a camera. I heard from Tedi that she is on line with the video and feels like she is at a national.

 

No pomp, the show is starting. Gloria came by for a hug and she looks like she is relaxed.  Dave Coleman walked by to say hello, and it is starting to feel like a real show.  I saw Sherrie Moses, not Jimmie yet, she said hello, but was walking by. I think she has a dog in the first class.

 

I talked to Liz and Robert. They made the trip in nine hours. They have a new Mercedes and therefore don't have to worry about speed limits, or at least that is what they said.

 

The workers for the center are from the jail which is next door. They all have green t-shirts that say the jail on it. I asked if they would sell them and they said yes. I told them to check with the warden, that could be a problem.

 

There they go into the ring.  Ben Bignoria is outside and first in is Joanne and I see Jeff and also only five in the class. They have set up the ring with a hall between the ring and the outside for double handling and the doublers are able to go around the whole ring.

 

They have the ring opened and that seems a bit big, but Joanne cuts the ring, but Jody doesn't. There Richard Sottile standing ringside watching.  Miss Karen Taylor came by and I did talk to Bret, I had sent him a book and he is reading it.  Karen Wagner told me she reads my posts, but still likes me. She is looking for duct tape to mark where the dogs should stand.

 

Jammie is doing the individuals, and since I am sitting with Michele, I will just tell you the winners, as he has the catalog on line for every to see. Erin and Nancy Nellis stopped by, not together, but now they seem to be watching the ring, I think they have a puppy in there.

 

More individuals, and they are puppies, so they don't all stand as well as the owners hopped they would.  Bob Moore came by to say good morning.  I see the photographers are here, Michale and Sharon. They did a great job last year and so they are back.  Michael is saying it is darker this year. I love what Laurie has posed, that is one good looking young male.  He started to fidget, but then settled down. The pup is clean both ways and being overhandled with a duck call.  I can see why the handlers get the big bucks, and I like that puppy on th sidegate, if the owner would leave him alone.  But, what fun would that be?

 

No crowd reaction yet, everyone seems to be chatting.  Tony is sitting alone at the announcer's table. He probably likes that better than having me there.  Sherrie is trying to get Kent's dog, not in the ring, fired up.  He has an all black that looks like something special, so far.

 

Keven Renolds is here with his truck, so the food is going to be good. I see Tiffany is trying to get a dog up that is in the ring, but I can't tell which one it is.  They line up against the white wall and they run the other side. She moves Jeff in front, and she looks at the last three, and puts Jodie in third and Laurie in fifth.

 

Jamie takes the last three around, evidently she doesn't see what I do, but perhaps it is because she is so much smarter than I am. I see Cindy Tellefson talking to Cheryll Brocket.  Cheryll liked what I did with the foliards, and the dogs are set in position as Jamie looks them and walks back.

 

There they go and some shouting and yelling now, some applause and they are taking a half ring pass and stop.  Jamie walks to them and looks athe the number two dog and then number one and back to number two. Now number three, and then back to the number one, she feels the back on the first two and stands back. She tells them to take the first two around, and dthere they do, Jeff in front the Jodie, and they both are nice puppies.  Jamie walks to the group with no changes, and stands back.  And there they go, and that's the way it is.

Too early to make mistakes

Second mistake of the day. The first was not convincing Tedi to come with me.  The second, which is related to the first, is that I thought the show started at 8:00 a.m.   I got to the arena in time to find out it starts at 1:00 pm.  But, I did see Bill Bergraff, and we talked about some ideas for the future Nationals.

 

Dave is here and we talked about MAGIC MARKER PUPPIES, he is the co-owner.  I saw they had not put out the folliards so I got them and hung them ringside. Be sure to come by and compliment me on how great they look.  I had to think of Pat Brown as I was putting them up, and wish she were still with us.

 

LanaLee is here and working on the cameras. She thought it started at 9:00 and she does not have Tedi to blame for not telling her what is happening.

 

Kenny Cunningham and I were talking to Kris Frasano, who is having her eyes redone next week. I sort of think she looks hot with glasses.  It is sort of empty here, since the show doesn't start for four hours. I guess I will go watch the temperament tests.

Utah before the show before the show

Here we are, and there is sod. The arena is big, and I do mean big. Comfortable seats, a bit cold, but a large dark green sod arena, from end to end. They have me on the floor, and I have a table.  I sw Rick Olowski already and it seems they are getting me a chair. That is a good thing.

 

When I got up the morning I felt that I might not know anyone, and have no one to hand with. Tedi stayed home with the puppies, and I wondered if I would know anyone here. Then I went down for the free breakfast, and I ran into Twyla with The Great Patron, and she let me walk him for just a bit. Then JR came by and The Famous Linda Battistoni laughed her way into the room. Paula was there and so was Laurie Beauleh.   Scotty from San Diego and I talked for a bit, and so, maybe I will know some of these people.

 

It is an hour before the show and the vendors are setting up.  There is no noise yet, but from the feel of the arena, it is going to be another great National.

 

Each year I try not to reflect on the prior ones, as it always seems that I get them confused.  It appears that LanaLee has a plethora of camera people, and the cameras are on the West side of the ring, one at each end. On the wall opposite where I will sit, the East side, (don't hold me to those directions) is a white wall, but lower than before. It think it is about four feet high, enough for almost all of our dogs, unless they are over 48 inches.  A few might be.

 

I have been here before and I remember the drive to Utah, and an hour and a half plane flight is much better. But, if I ever do this again, I will come in earlier. I got in about midnight last night, and I should have taken an earlier flight. But, the car rental was at the airport and it was an easy time.

 

A few people are now starting to come in, and I see some others setting up tripods for cameras.  The very first row of seats are covered and taped down. I don't know the reason, but it might be to keep the isles clear. There is about six feet from the first row of seats, (not benches) to the bars around the ring and then about a five foot drop to the floor, if anyone drops.  They have sawdust from the edge of the sod to the ring, and then a yellow rope around the three sides.  It is time for me to go help set up the vendors, so more to come.

Utah we are here

I made it to the National. Well, sort of.  I am in Salt Lake City. So far I have seen the airport, the highway, and night. I checked in, and it is very quiet here. Tomorrow I will try to find a dog show.  This is strange to be at a National without Tedi.

 

I don't think there are any dogs here, it is very quiet and they seem to only allow small dogs.  But, I think it is the headquarters, for whatever that is worth.

 

If I have a seat, I will be back in tomorrow.

A decision

Tedi has decided she will not attend the national this year. We have four week old Magic Marker/Kirk puppies and they are starting to get socialized and she felt it was not a good time to leave them.

 

I had to decide if I would go without her to the national.  This is a terrible week for me to be gone from the law office, with court appointments, clients coming in, and work needed.  I also considered that without Tedi we would not show our Futurity dog, and so I would be there just to visit friends, watch the Big Show, see some new dogs, and Blog.

 

In the end, I have decided to go. I was in the office on Sunday to line up as much as I could, I played with the puppies more than they wanted, I checked out my lap-top and exercised my fingers.  I will work in the office and then head for the airport.

 

So, take fair warning, I will be in Utah, unless the plane crashes. If so, someone else will have to Blog, and be sure to talk to Zoe, she will show you how to do it.

Nothing is certain

I spent the day at an event called K9 at The Park. I helped to set up and man a booth for the German shepherd. It seemed like every other dog there was a German shepherd. It was fun, and I met lots of new people and got to talk to many people about the dogs.

 

Then, as often happens the plans are up in the air about the National.  Tomorrow we will make plans for the national. Tedi is worried about the three week old puppies, and either she, me or both of us will stay home. We are talking about only me going, her coming in for Specials, not taking Kirk, both of us staying home, or a combination of them all.

 

I will know by Monday and as soon as I/we decide, I will let everyone know. If we don't make it, have a great National.

Less than a week

Here we are less than a week before the National, and things are coming together. I just heard from LanaLee, things are under control and she has camera people lined up for the streaming video.  Liz had the Red Books at class a week ago, and if you don't have one, you are missing a major part of our sport.

 

My dog has not started to blow his coat yet, even after a week of 100+ days. But, we have been carefull not to mention the show in front of him. He is too young to spell, so we can talk so long as we used letters and not words.

 

The new litter is eating real food and although Magic Marker still wants to feed them, she is starting to get bored and looking for ways to bug Tedi. That is a good sign. The dog sitter is rested and ready to move in, so long as I get out of the way.

 

My court appearances are all covered, and my clients know where to call me. I will have a laptop to get in touch with the office when needed, and frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

 

Utah awaits, friends, dogs, vendors, food, wild women and whiskey.  Well, maybe not all of that, but enough to get me to another dog show.

Look out for Mormon crossing the road

As of today, I am going to the national. I have agreed to help out with the cameras for everyone can have streaming video, and if so, I can't blog. So, if you want a blog, then someone more has to agree to man a camera for an hour or so. It should be fun to do that, you are right at ringside and get the best view in the house.

 

There were last minute details to work out, mostly the fact that we have ten three week old puppies. But, we have a young lady who will move into our home, and so we have someone there 24 hours.  I was not going to leave them alone just for a dog show.

 

I am ready, and will get in Monday evening, so will Blog Tuesday as I watch the every beautiful Jamie do her thing.  To me, that is enough to get me to Utah.

 

Be sure to come by and say hello. I will be the guy with the gray hair and typing, (if Bill has a place for me).

First Blog attempt

Here we are, two weeks before the national, and I am still uncertain if I will go. We have three week old puppies and a problem with the dog sitter. The girl who is normally to come live here, may not work out this year.

 

To add to that, I had the wrong week for the show, and booked everything at the office, appointments, court appearances, clients for the week I thought was the week prior to the national. I double booked myself to allow me time to be off the following week. Then I found out that I was working on the wrong dates.

 

But, on the good side, I have asked Zoe, and she said to Blog just as I have in the years past. So, this is the first attempt, and if it works, there will be more to follow.

* SELECT EXCELLENT Two of them are too young to x-ray and the rest out of the 13, we have good hips on ten. That is great.

 

 

 

Wow, what a national.  I got my ribbon, got to spend time with my friends. I made a few new ones, and had a great time. I don't know if I can do this next year, but we will see. The streaming video was a great addition and we owe a vote of thanks to Gail Hardcastle.  She fought hard to keep it going and some didn't want it.

 

Molly was the greatest and her knowledge of the breed, who the winner's were was astounding.  I can't say how much help she was, and what a boost she gave to this.  I could not do this without her, or at least not this well.

Last year the top two were reversed. Last year Diesel was Grand Victor in Canada and the Untied States. This year. Aragon was Grand Victor in Canada and The United States.

Your 2009 Grand Victor

Dave takes the first five around and he walks over to them and looks and he walks to them and looks closely at them and he second six.  There they go.

 

Dave walks to them and he swings his arms and pulls Oscar and Bronson, and takes the next seven. He moves quickly when he gets to this point, and it is hard to know what is going on. I think he is pulling some, but I can't see all of them.

 

He walks over to them and looks at them and now he looks at his last group of three. I think he is not cutting at all.
There go the last three of his picks, sixteen, seventeen and eighteen.

 

He walks back and they are all together and he takes It's All About Me and Joshua. So, he has picked some and let some out, but they all remain in the ring.  Now he takes four around and he sends all four out the gate, Hunter et al.

 

Now he has fifteen.  What a lineup.  Cobe, Centurian, Gable, Key Largo, T-Boy, GV Diesel, Dexter, Aregon, Rocky, Bronson, Ray Bearone, Eli, It's All About Me, Joshua, and Rambling Man. What a group and there is going to be some changes in there, but I think they should all go Select, But, no one asked me.

 

I love that group, and now he is going to change them.  He pulls Diesel, Aragon, Oscar, Eli, Bronson and walks to the front. WOW is it noisy. Now Joshua.  There go the five to the side.  Now he pull Coby, Centurian, Gable, Dexter, Rambling Man Ray Bearone and It's All About Me T-Boy, and Dexter. 

 

That might be the order, but I think there is a lot more show to go. Dave talks to Kent in front, then Morris, Art, and Jimmie.  He stands off and has each of them to, GV Diesel first and he looks terrific.  He says drop the lead, Aragon, another great dog.  He ask Oscar to take the lap. He said something to Kent.  Dave waves him back, and now Eli.  Dave likes the loose lead on that dog and walks over to Eli and looks at them and doesn't do anything with them. Now Bronson. 

 

It is thick with tensiion and Dave moves Bronson up one in front of Eli. There goes Joshua, and Dave walks over to him and doesn't change anything.

 

There goes Cobe with Diane Brown and puts him in front of Eli. Centurian and nothing from Dave.

 

Now Gable and Dave looks but nothing.

 

Key Largo, a crowd favorite.  He puts in front of All About me.  Rambling Man. It seems to me that there is less interest with Dave and he flips his hand. I know what that means.  Now Ray Bearone.

 

There goes All About Me.  He moves him All About me in front of Rambling Man, and now T-Boy.

 

Now we have Dexter.

 

Dave walks the line and the crowd tells him what he thinks. He moves Bronson from four to three in front of Joshua.  He goes to the end and walks back and Dave looks fresh and tells the group to stand back and takes the last eight from Centurian back and lets them take a lap. He may have some more to do. He watches them as they pass the wall.  He walks to the front and looks at each of them as they stand and he looks back up front and now walks the line. He looks at them and he pulls Centureian back to fourth in this group.

 

Now he has pulled the first group of seven with Eli.  There are fifteen still in there. Maybe they are all going Select. I think so.

 

There are the best of the best, Diesel, Aragon, Oscar, Bronson, Joshua, Cobe, and Eli. Now comes the real work.  I do love Diesel.  I liked him before and like him now.

 

He is taking them down and back.  George does a number of false starts, and wants to go another direction as gets his wish. NOW THAT IS A CROWD FAVORITE, and rightly so. Diesel stand free and now Dave goes to Aragon with Kent.

 

Kent takes the full ring and the crowd likes him too. Dave looks at him and moves him in front of Diesel. 

 

Oscar takes his lap, and now Bronson.  Joshua, down and back.  He has his fans.  Dave is looking them over and walks to the font again and looks at them again, and he walks down the line and back again, and is walking back and is reaching into his poket. Puts Aragon Diesel and Oscar together and he looks and looks and is walking towards them What a great trio.

 

He moves Oscar, and is going to let each of those three lead one time.  There they go. You could cut the tension with a knife. And It is great to see those three together. 2009 might be a greAt year for our breed.

 

He puts Aragon in front, Diesel and Oscar. And they pose, and he says "loose Lead" and Kent says something to Dave and Dave laughs and there they go and YES it Aragon.

Male specials, end of the line before final pick

In come those magnificent males. I, (Evan) am back and have come down off the wall from Magic Marker going Select. It is more fun to win. I haven't had a win for so long that I had forgotten.  Tony just told me I was wrong with the junior and it was Maria Oster.  I would trust him more than me.

 

What a great looking group of dogs. I wonder how Dave can keep this up so long, and must be exhausted, and they are still coming in. I am wearing my Harley Davidson sweatshirt. I kept it covered until Markie was done. She doesn't like me cheering for another dog.

 

Man were those beautiful bitches. Dave and Ed are the two best judges I have ever seen. And, now that our board is dominated by women, we manly men need to find solice somewhere.  Zoe has been here most of the day, and seems to be having a good time.

 

Dave and Karen are in the ring to check everyone in with them all standing. I see Charllona is on Harley, and it was touch and go, as to if she would go on.  I just took the last chocolate chip cookie.  It is good the show is about over. Bob and I supply the eats here at the command center, and the only rule is that it can't be good for you. Molly and I did the Junior Mints. The closest we came to healthy food was oatmeal cookies.

 

They are 3/4 checked in and Dave walks out to look them over.  Boy is he tall. Mike Cheeks just came by.  Out go the last of the class, and in there are the first seven. Diane has It's All That Matters, and I like the looks of him.  There they go.  Big handsome males.  I was wrong Cindy Tellefson has Harley.  Now Dave starts the individuals. 

 

Bill Lernerd is here and now I am talking to Ron Peet.

 

First out was I'm All That Matters of Edan with Diane, Kelly with Von Dinheart Midnight Harley, then Nick with Winsomes' Dream Love Bear Peddacre, Dave doesn't even look tired, and I sure am.  I see Frank Fasano and talked to him in the men's room. It was very private.

 

Now we have Suean Lyloak's First Night. That is a very dark black and tan.  He takes his down and back, like a man.  Bob and Molly are bonding and she is supposed to feed me this information.  She may be finished with me when this is over.  How cool was it with the dams of the GV and the second Select being the same the last time Dave judged the national?

 

Now we have Nick with Cade of Fran-Jo. The sire of the Best Bred By this year.  I have always liked Cade.  He still looks like a puppy.  He is five now, and in his prime. Now Dave calls out Nancy with a bi-colored male Brazos of Satr-Nordlicht, owned by Ebertins, he is doing the results on the parent club page. He spent a lot of time in the booth trying to de-frag his computer.

 

Scottie brings out Kismet's Centurion. Having Molly here is like having two of us on the computer. What a great thing. Maybe some day she can take this over. She has a normal mind and you wouldn't hear all the nonsense I put out.

 

I talked to Paula a bit, and she is a wreck. I know how much she loves Harley.

 

ASGARD'S HARLEY DAVIDSON OF PLAMARK  IS OUT THERE WITH CINDY TELLEFSON.  Bob finished that dog.

 

Molly just reminded me that my number eight select means she is within the top ten bitches in America this year. I like that.

 

They are done with the first group and now the second group.   Leading is Ken Tank with a good looking male. I like waht Patti hasin there and I see The Guz with Bounty Hunter.  Diane Brown is outside the ring but has a number on, so she has dreams of Grand Victor in her head, still.

 

Out there is Ken Tank with Amber's Jake The Snake. I do miss Barbara Amadon, who I understand is having knee problems. I hope she does well and we see her in Utah.

 

Maryellen Kish is going by and it is quiet in here right now.  Now up is Holly a good looking redhead, with Lutzhaus Sirkobrasas Winsom.  I hope I spelled that correctly, and if not, again blame Flower Boy.

 

What a tremendous job out board and Bill did with this National. If you haven't thanked the two people who fought for streaming video yet, let Gail and Lanalee know what you think. Also thanks to Molly for all this help.

 

Now we have Ariel with Nikiree's Summer Premiere the Futurity Victor from Concord.  Tedi is sitting down, and still grinning. I see Cappy is busy with friends and there is Channing. 

 

Patti Breault with Marhaven's Next in Line Reno. He was Select this year in Canada. I don't know this stuff, Molly does. One year I said to Dick Jenning who works with me, that Earnie Loeb was doing the national. Without missing a beat, he said, "Do you realize that the last time he judged the national, in his first cut were the next three Grand Victors?"  Who has a mind like that?  This from the man who owned Jennick Kennels and Just Jamaca and others.

 

The crowd likes that dog and he sure does cover the ground.

 

Jullie Hamasaki has Faithrock Carolyn Good Vibrations.  I am amazed that the handlers can deal with this ring after all the years they have handled. I would love to go out in the ring again, and maybe will at local shows. But, my National days are long past, and I have the Wisdom To Know The Difference.

 

The Bounty Hunter is out there with Jerry.  Kent came by and Joe Larosa is talking to Al in front of us.  I see Gloria is still dressed up and what a great outfit. She will be able to wear it to the prom. 

 

Hy-Cliff with Gable, Hy-Cliff Gable. I liked him last year, but he didn't make the cut.  A real powerful dog, and all man. 

 

Olivia is out there with Charbo's Key Largogh V Marjo.  I did some neat stuff and will say in a minute.

 

We have the third group in now. I was asked by Becky Dickson to go on line to look up Bronson's OFA numbers and with help from Zoe and Molly as well as Becky, was able to do it. I am now officially a techie.

 

I love that second dog, a Color Dog son, and I will get to him in a minute.

 

First up is Beth with Melana's Mojito.  That's Milissa Cambell's dog. He is out of Pandemonium.  Randy Chessnut came by to talk about our girls. One the Maturity Victrix, the other number eight Select. We tried to figure out which was better. I am keeping my Select Title.  And they go around one at a time. I could go back and take a nap for this.

 

Greg with the Color Guard son, a real dark dog, Marhaven's Solitare Traveler, and he is impressive.  I think that is one hell of a male, and while I hate his color, I love his type.

 

George with Diesel with Trafalger's Full Throttle. If anyone didn't know, it was last year's Grand Victor. He is young and looks better this year.  He is only three and a half. I would think Dave would love him. 

 

Duane Siebly with Samurai Jette Jackson.  Another Color Guard Son.  The Boss rules.  Mike Cheeks is looking serious and walked over to the ring.

 

This is a girl in Red, Crystal. She has Ketlyns Written in Stone.  There is a lot of milling about.
Molly here now, Evan had to leave for a bit.   Alex is out there with Karizma's Cacique of Inquest better known as Dexter.  Next up, Bill Basu with Mar Haven's Last Cowboy Song. 

 

Kent has entered with the Can GV Tazzman's Aregon. And that is the end of this group.

 

The next group is coming in and Evan is taking over.....

 

We are taking votes on who you want to do this, Me or Molly?  I like her touch and she types so much better than I do. I see the next group is in there. I love the Cowboy dog.

 

This is the fourth group out of seven, (I think).  I see Lew Bunch working the crowd, and walking by now.  Nancy McDonald is sitting down. I saw Lee outside and he said watching is easier than judging, and I know that to be true.

 

Sylvain is out there with Pastor Burgas.  He is a Canadian Champion and is a Canadian Select. 

 

Abby (with the best clothes of the national), with Inverness T Bird Eko-Lan.

 

Cindi with Shanty's Monte Carlo.  He is a Hoodlum son, and I have always liked that dog. He is popular in California. 

 

Jammie Clute with Keylis Bloomsberry's In Thyme. Another dark dog. Either we no longer have a pigment problem in the breed, or there is more going on than I know. That may indeed be the answer. 

 

Joanne is out there now with a dark sable, Echo-Cham's Escalde. Another Color Guard son. He took reserve futurity futurity under Kathy Castile in Tennesee in 2005. 

 

Mike has his entry in there it is Wolf Creek Phoenix V Merivern.  Bill Bergraff is in front of us, and seems to have taken a deep breath. It seems to have all come together, and it must be a relief.  He used to do this for a living and it shows.

 

The crowd likes Mike's dog.   But, this is a bit boring, and a long suffering proceedure.

 

Lenny with Kaleef's It's All About Me.  Carolyn Martello came by, and I was pleased to see Tammy Howard here. She got out of the hospital and looks good.

 

Out there is Trish Wylie with a dark sable Adelgard's Yancy D Von Marquin. He is an Extra Extra son and if you need to ask who that is, sign off this Blog now, and go to the next national. He is seven and a half years old, Yancy, not Extra Extra.
They take a lap together, and there isn't anything to get excited about, yet!

 

Now the second half of the group. Tedi came by but I didn't have time to talk to her. I know I will hear about that on the way home. I might be done with the Blog after this year. Dave takes lots of notes.

 

Now on to group five.

 

Zoe is asleep behind me.  It may be a long day, there are three more groups and it is three O'clock.

 

I see Ron Peet has a camera here at ringside.   They take another lap. Hard to get excited at this point, and I would rather take another nap. 

 

Bill Tank has Kaleef's Joshua V Kenlyn. A Bronson son.  Owned by the Moses and is a Maturity winner under Bobbie Kindy.

 

Now a nice young man I don't know, (his name is Patrick)  with Kebre-Kaleef's AJ VonHornberger.  I am just giving you the names, when it gets exciting I will name the dogs, and you can go back and try to figure out the handlers. You have to so some of the work.

 

Jeff Pyle with Trafalgar's Feature Presentation. A brother to Diesel and Pacific Chai.  They call him Kahnya.

 

JR has Shadow Acres and Castle Hill's In Cahoots.  Her mother is a litter mate to last year's Grand Victrix, if I am not mistaken, and I might well be.  I often am.

 

Jenn Somogyni with Alfaro's Rambling Man, who is a Honky Tonk son.

 

Linda Bankhead, one of the best looking woman at the national, with Donka's Worth the Wait.  Terry Rock is in front of us and we can hear every word she says.  Another one of those Bronson sons, Worth The Wait, not Terry.

 

Morris in short sleeves with Marquis Stealing The Show, OSCAR for those who don't know or who have lived in the woods the last two years. A Bailey son.  A very very nice dog, and a clear crowd favorite.

 

Al Martin has Kaleef's Cochise V Kenlyn.  Fran Ford is still sitting ringside and looks fresh. I wish I felt that way.  I did find out Dave is seven days younger than me, no wonder he has so much energy.

 

Now the class takes a pass together. Just the first four. Dave breaks each group of eight in half, and using advanced math, that comes to four.  Now he takes the second half again. 

 

Now the group with Jimmy in it. He has been my hero for years and while I got older, he got younger.  He has an Aries son called Bronson.  You had to be in a cave not to know who that is.

 

They take another pass.  All eight of them.  The best Junior Handler Liz Ostler's daughter is in there. She runs just like Liz.

 

Jimmy is out there with Hicliff Bronson V Kaleef, and Baily Panach son.  Panash was the second Select under Dave when he judged in Florida and the damn of the number two Select bitch today.
Baily is the sire of six of the Select Bitches.

 

Liz with Winsomes Raybearone.  He is three now.  He won a futurity under Bob Funk.

 

This is the Winner's Dog from Tuesday under the Great Bob Dresher, (The Voice of The National).  He is the move-up, Lindenhill's Machu Picchu with a Canadian handler Benoit Champagne.

 

Now we have Beth with Winsom's Rockybearboa II.  Beth is a Junior who has great style and is going to be a top handler is she doesn't get interested in boys. He was the Maturity Victor this year.

 

This is another move-up, Caretti's Archangel with Steve Granger.  He is a Samari son, so he is half brother to my Samari daughter Honey Be Good.

 

Art Sinclair comes in with the Winner's dog Ejm N' Eko-lan's Eli.  Ellen's dog.

 

Now we have the Veteran winner with John Beyer.  7-9, Donka's Kahlua.

 

The 9 and over Veteran with Maria Oster's daughter Sirius Park Worth the Trip at ten.  He is one year older than the handler.    Now, that is the first crowd pick. I don't know if it was for Maria. A real cute pair.   Her mother doesn't look much older than her.

 

Thankfully this is the last group and now we start the true hell for about half the handlers. There goes the group together.  The first four, and now the second four.

 

That Veteran has held together.

 

Now the unkindest cuts of them all.

 

Dave has left the building. I am a man and wonder how he was holding out this long.  He is a better man than me. But, Martha and I knew that.  He is back, sat for ten seconds and now is back in the ring.

 

It is a good time for a break.

 

The first group is back in.

 

He takes them around again, and it might be the last time for many of them. There they go with lumps in their throat. I only see two I would go with, but no one asked me.

 

He pulls I'm All That Matters, (Kobe), and takes the rest of the group around.  He takes Centurian, and sends the rest to waiting hell.

 

Now the second group: Lots of hope and not much to wish for.

 

Ken Tank is in front and The Guz is in there too.  They take a pass. Those on the Video can see it all, the rest, tough shit. Don't call a bench show committee on me.

 

He points to Cirkrobrass, and takes around Next In Line Reno and YES she gets the nod and goes to heaven at the national, and the rest take a pass to end the day, perhaps.  There is still another chance.

 

He pulls Gable and Key Largo with Hunter.  Five from that group, and in comes another.

 

Molly thinks there will be four pulled from this group. She says it is a strong group. There they go.

 

He pulls GV Full Throttle, and is talking to them, looking them over and seems to want to see them take another pass. I don't think Dave is impressed with them as much as Molly was, and he takes them around and there they go.

 

He takes Aragon, Kent is relieved.  He looks at the rest of them and shoves them back to the ranks of disappointed.

 

Another group and Savaine is leading this group.  These dogs are fired up with hours to go.  Dave goes for another trip, I don't think he is overwhelmed with this group.

 

He looks closely at them and goes over and points to It's All About Me, and no one else.

 

Another group of hopefuls, and not much chance left. I would hate to be in there, glad I have one of those big black and red ribbons that no one can take away. There they go, maybe for the last time, the first four.  He pulls Joshua, and asks for the next group, and passes on the rest.

 

Four with some dreams left, Jen is in front.  He pulls Rambling Man and Oscar.  Baily is doing good here today. He takes Feature Presentation and YES he gets to stay at the dance for a while.

 

Off the rest go.  There is a big group of lost souls in there.     Molly here, next group is in. 
Bronson, Ray Bearone and wnners dog Eli has been pulled.   That was the last group.  17 have been pulled at this point.  Evan is back...

 

Yes, it is I.

 

He is taking those with dashed hopes one at a time.. As someone how handled for years, I know the feeling.  There goes Harley, and he is done for the day, I suspect. But he looked good doing it.  I might as well take off my Harley sweatshirt.  Solitare Travelor (T-Boy), goes out there and Dave looks him over, since the crowd loves him and YES he gets pulled.

 

Boy, this can be hard on the emotions.  Not many of these are being saved, and Dave is such a good job, and it shows. YES he pulls Dexter, Illeana's dog.

 

There goes Cowboy and no, there goes another.  Everyone gets a good look. I like that in a judge.  The crowd is quiet now, and waiting for the end game.

 

I am amazed how what he has left is not Select quality. I know I could not do that well. Dave and Ed are able to do that in such a short time. I would love to know how their brain works. There goes the Junior Handler with the Veteran. He looks good, but no longer great.  The Rest Go Home.

 

Now the rest, nineteen.  All with hopes of Select. None of them can have my ribbon, and I know they would take it. I earned it, and I wanted it, and I am keeping it.
